And could you please provide a log file of the full session?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBC IPlayer runs late and slow

2018-02-27 Thread mikebainbridge

Many thanks for the super-fast response. Apologies for my
misinterpretation of your instructions.

1. Original convert.conf put back
2. New custom-convert.conf created and saved as per instructions :set
list seems to show just NL which I think is what is required. (file
attached)
3. Server re-started
4. Debug player.source enabled from Server settings / Advanced / Logging
[apply]
5. Attempted to run BBC R4 on demand - same as before: 'Connecting' on
screen a brief flick of 'now playing' and then back to resting state.
6. 30 second wait and log file zipped and downloaded from web interface
(attached)
7. Debug turned off and applied

It "feels" like a syntax error in your custom-convert.conf file.

Attach your custom-convert.conf file to a post so I can check - spaces
and tabs and end-of-line are critical (i.e a file edited on Windows
editor often have incorrect end of line sequence)

Use the MAC address version - that is guaranteed to work. Don't use the
"Squeezebox" one as I couldn't test that - e.g. there may be a case or
spelling issue.

Check what is being executed by enabling logging player.source to debug
and then try to play a BBC station. Note time of start of test, wait 30
secs and copy from log every line between start of test until end into a
text file, zip and attach to a post. Do NOT edit any out - sometimes
missing lines

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBC IPlayer runs late and slow

2018-02-27 Thread mikebainbridge

1. Removed previous line with MAC address
2. Added this line - note I removed the double space before the first
pipe and before the second $FILES in your example

Code:

aac pcm Squeezebox *
  # IF
  [faad] -q -w -f 1 -b 1 $FILE$ | [sox] -q -t wav $FILE$ -t raw -r 44100 -c 2
-2 -s -

3. Squeezebox runs but slow so it's not "seeing" the name

Thanks for helping though - I'm going to have to do some reading as this
is not in my field of expertise - Happy to try any suggestions and if I
come up with something I'll be sure to post !

2018-02-27 Thread mikebainbridge

Many thanks for this @BPM
Server is max2play 2.45 running on Odroid U2

1. Copied /etc/squeezeboxserver/convert.conf to convert.conf.safe
2. Added lines you suggested as below into convert.conf after existing
entry

Code:

  aac pcm * *
  # IF
  [faad] -q -w -f 2 -b 1 $FILE$

  aac pcm * 00:04:20:05:90:fc
  # IF
  [faad] -q -w -f 1 -b 1 $FILE$ | [sox] -q -t wav $FILE$ -t raw -r 44100 -c 2
-2 -s -

3. Re-started Squeezeboxserver
4. Tried the BBC R4 'on demand' - "Connecting" displayed briefly then
back to resting current time display
5. Same for live (overseas)

I'll now try the second suggestion

Because this somehow hints that you might think the database problems
are related to any tinkering: I did nothing of the sort. I installed
QLMS manually and did nothing funny with the settings or edited stuff.
It's vanilla.

Ok, thank you. I'll leave it the way it this, then.

I didn't know that, thank you. It's funny, though: Instead of
remembering not to delete the InstalledPlugins folder I also may
remember not to delete this yaml-file as it will reinstall the files I
forgot not to delete. :D

It wouldn't have been tinkering if there would be an official way to
move it (there's three places for plugins I know of already - why not
assume there's a fourth one). But I guess normally people just don't
delete the cache. :D

All other devices work fine, its only the HomePod. It used to play for
2-3mins the stop playing then resume playing later when streaming from
LMS library. I set it to send Meta Data and then it works.

However it will not work with ShairTunes, Doesn't matter what
configuration it is it just doesn't work. Very Strange eh?!? Could it be
to do with volume feedback? As that doesn't work correctly on the
HomePod? Maybe trying to get the volume from the device and its not

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce - Song info plugin for FIP radio

2018-02-27 Thread Paul Webster

Aha ... we did a debug session and might have found the cause.

One of the data sources for FIP does a HTTP Redirect to HTTPS
In this instance the LMS is 7.9.0 running on a MAC
So - my current guess is that it is missing the Perl SSL module.
I know how to install that on Debian style systems but not on a MAC.

So - can someone say how to install it on a MAC that is using 7.9.0 ?
Alternatively ... is it provided as default with 7.9.1 nightly?

Is there a simple command line to show that SSL module is missing (on a
MAC)?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Move plugins from Cache\DownloadedPlugins to somewhere that's not the Cache

2018-02-27 Thread Michael Herger

I have some trouble with false positives with Full-text search, did some
testing and while clearing the cache, I also "cleared" my plugins. That
was not so great. I just want them to be out of harm's way.

Rather than create new problems by tinkering a working environment you
should learn from your mistake and not do it again. Now you know you
shouldn't just wipe the cache folder.

No - plugin manager only deal with Cache. If you want to go manual
route - then everything is manual (e.g. no auto updates, no checking
plugin in directory matches the OS or LMS version, you will lose all
manual installed plugins after an update)

Plugin manager is only one to use DownloadedPlugin and Installedplugins
directory. IIRC I think if you delete cache EXCEPT for plugin-data.yaml
file - manager will reinstall plugins.

testing and while clearing the cache, I also "cleared" my plugins. That
was not so great. I just want them to be out of harm's way.

If I move the plugins to SlimServer/Plugins, will the automatic update
still work?

Why do you want to move them ?
Plugins managed by the Plugin manager will always be put in the
Cache.\InstyalledPlugins

User installed plugins can be installed in the LMS top level Plugins
directory. LMS Plugins are installed in the Slim/Plugin - no user
plugins must be installed in this directory.

There can be no duplicate Plugin names regardless of directory.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Move plugins from Cache\DownloadedPlugins to somewhere that's not the Cache

2018-02-27 Thread dolodobendan

I want to move the plugins from Cache\DownloadedPlugins to some other
location that is not the cache (but obviously, I still want them to be
found and used in LMS). Is this possible?
