Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty 2.3.0 - Spotify Connect for your Squeezebox

2018-08-12 Thread Michael Herger

@ Michael - can you check the ZIP?

Wow... ok, that file was indeed f... up! Not on my server, but the copy
delivered by the CDN. May I ask in which region you're living? It seemed
to be working fine for many users. Which means that only one copy in one
of the CDN's edge servers was broken. That shouldn't happen IMHO :-(.

Please try again. I've wiped the caches and am now getting the correct file.

Guys: don't mess with the plugin installer. You're asking for problems.

Did you wait a minute or two after you got the reboot prompt? Last time
somebody reported issues, this fixed it.

Enable debug logging for plugin.extensions and server.plugins. Re-try
the installation. Send the server.log.zip file.

2018-08-12 Thread Michael Herger

I tried multiple times since yesterday to update Spotty from 2.3.7 to
2.4.1 with no success.

After removing Spotty I am not able to reinstall it.

How does it fail?

Also trying to download ist to
@appstore/SqueezeCenter/Cache/DownloadedPlugins and restart the service
will not bring Spotty back to my Ds214play.

Don't mess with the installation folder inside the cache. It's asking
for more trouble. Try to understand why it's failing, and address that
issue.

I tried to get involved in Peter's project but I missed the boat and am
on his list to try when it comes to Beta. Then, I saw your "announce."
Looks intriguing. I just don't understand all of the moving parts.

I may try poking around with MQTT just to know what "you kids" speak of.
;) It's not that I don't want to learn anything new. Actually, if I had
the time like I used to, I would love the challenge. I just don't. And a
lot of things that I am interested in anymore not only require me to
teach an old dog (ME) new tricks (which would be fine again if I had the
time), but a lot of the time it requires learning multiple tricks which
goes back to the time issue. I just wish I had more of it like I used
to. Life is so much more complicated than it used to be when I was in my
20s, 30s, 40s, ..?? My wife had cancer last year (she's okay now) and
my dad now has it (again). But I may try to learn if/when. There has to
be "more" to Alexa and not being able to control LMS is a major turnoff.
Too bad Logitech didn't stick with it longer.

Thanks, Nick.

Sure, understood. Good news then - this isn't necessary now - you can
use 'the new MQTT transport'
instead if that takes your fancy. This requires no ports to be opened,
no LMS plugins to be installed, and no security settings to be changed,
though definitely a fair bit of setup still. It's a little "beta" still

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: squeeze-alexa - DIY secure Alexa integration

2018-08-12 Thread NFLnut

I would love to try this as Alexa/Echo seems fairly useless to me (I
recently purchased a Show and a Dot to experiment with, the latter which
I really needed to connect directly to my Denon receiver, and I'm pretty
nonplussed by the whole experience). I have no interest in listening to
Amazon Music as it's pretty much a facsimile in many ways of Pandora
which I never use. The boredom from Pandora and its inability to play
crap that I like. My extensive collection is MUCH more enjoyable to
listen to, and the lack of a LMS skill makes Alexa pretty dull. I have
been voice-controlling my home since around 1999 with HAL Deluxe and HAL
even of that era was a lot more useful to me. I could even use "Jeannie"
as the action word.

Having said all of that, and I am somewhat tech and computer literate
having built my own computers and set up several Rpi, I'm afraid my tech
skills aren't advanced enough to competently set this up. Main reason
being, I don't want to accidentally and unsecurely blow open a port on
the innerwebz for every script kiddie on the planet to play with.
Therefore, and until future notice, I guess I am out. Kudos however to
meep and nickb for taking the plunge. Maybe someday old geezers like me
can find our Alexa/Echoes useful.

Strange - my post a few hours ago has not been made visible so far (a
moderator has to approve) - so I give it a try again:

The way I was able to install Spotty manually is:

- Install Spotty via the webinterface
- when the messagebox (Restart LMS now or later) appears copy the ZIP
from http://www.herger.net to the DownloadedPlugins directory
- set permissions for the ZIP (sudo 666 Spotty-2.4.1.zip)
- then restart LMS

I believe that this has always been the case, I do not believe its the
switch from WiFi to Eth or vice versa.
I think this is an issue that inbetween the switch the network goes
"Down"
I have seen this when changing the DNS or IP address etc on a wired only
PC
I simply close SL-X and restart it and this has worked every time for
me.

Thank you for sharing this with me. Has this always been an issue or
did it begin recently? I was able reproduce this issue on another
machine and I consider it a bug. I don't know if it has always been
there or if I introduced it recently. I need to dig into it. (My dev
machine does not have wifi, and for my machine that does, I had never
tried switching back and forth.)

If restarting the app does not always solve the problem, I recommend
manually setting your player mac address using the -m switch under
"more" in settings. That might help. To set the mac address manually
you'll enter a line under "More" that looks something like this:

-m xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx

In the meantime, I need to do some digging on handling this exception
properly.

Using the 0.2.15.1 version of UPnPBridge running on the WHS to "publish"
the Jongo as a squeezeplayer, LMS on the RPi can play flacs. So the

I guess the directory structure on your NAS is different - you should be
able to find it under Settings / Information (at the bottom there is a
section with the important directories).

Thanks for your reply!

Yes, I can see the Device and can Cast to my TV

I just disabled the C.B. Plugin again and re-started LMS... Enabled C.B.
again and then re-started LMS again.
Then I clicked on 'Settings' next to the Pluggin and nothing happens.

I still do not see the device in LMS in my list of Players.

2018-08-12 Thread slamdunx

I saw the "400 Bad Request" error message in my log file when I copied
and pasted a new API key in to the plugin configuration page.
In my case the problem turned out to be that the copied key had a space
at the beginning which needed to be removed.
The unwanted space character was present in the copied key whether I
used CTRL-C or the copy button next to the key on the Google webpage.

Btw latest version from W10 store. Did a reinstall hoping this would
solve this behavior but it does not.

Thanks for your Reply!

I never was able to see it listed under Players in LMS.

First I was not even sure where I should plug in the Chromecast. I
plugged it into my TV, as this was the only place on my network with an
HDMI Port.
Is this Correct or do I need to plug it in somewhere else?

When I first enabled the Chromecast Bridge (C.B.), I was able to get
another Screen by clicking on the 'Settings' next to the Plugin.
However on subsequent attempts, by enabling the C.B. and disabling it,
clicking on the Settings did not bring up this screen again.

So, I am not sure of the steps I need to follow, Hardware and Software
on this.

Hi,

I've got the same problem on my RB3 - after experimenting for some time
I found that the ZIP file at http://downloads.nixda.ch/Spotty-2.4.1.zip
is broken. I managed to install Spotty by manually downloading the file

@ Michael - can you check the ZIP?
