There is no way to do that now, but one or two of the Qobuz managers
engaging us over on ComputerAudiophile have agreed there should be a way
to at least filter searches by Hi-Res in general. I doubt that's on the
pre-launch priority list, but it is on a list.

It hasn't been discussed in this thread, but remote access in general
has been discussed many times on these forums. The general
recommendation is don't do it, but if you do then use VPN.

Is that what you're doing with iPeng? Squeezelite-X would work the same
way; you'd just enter the IP address in Settings. But a VPN tunnel
directly to your home router is recommended, not just basic VPN, and not
opening a port on your router which is dangerous. Problem is, VPN
tunneling from your PC would interfere with your work by preventing
communication with the local network. And getting around that would
reduce security.

Now, maybe someone else here has a solution to that, but it seems to me
your best alternative would be to back up LMS and some or all of your
library to a small server, and bring that one to work. If they'll let
you attach it to the network. I wouldn't.

Hi.

I am new to this tread and i apologize in advance if this issue was
already disused.

I would like to be able to use this player at work to stream remotely
from the LMS located on my home Synology server. I currently do this
using iOS iPeng LMS software player on mu iPhone, but am often limited
with the office Wi-Fi capacity which tends to get too busy for
streaming. Doing the same with Ethernet connected PC should be easier.

It's surprising. No problem with Firefox on my PC (interface in French),
but problem with Firefox for Android (interface in English, even after
removing the traces of the browser, cache included). I probably have a
problem with my smartphone...

I've spend some time looking into the aspects of providing updated
metadata in the flow mode for gapless, and also into providing custom
metadata or modified UI in the track by track mode.

This plugin uses Google Default Media Receiver and you can NOT update
metadata without restarting the stream. OK, so I looked into Custom
Receiver (we could have fancy LMS logo). I have created one, registered
with google, can play it and debug it. But can't find a method to update
the metadata property on the default UI that is delivered with Custom
Receiver. From what I see so far, one would have to go not only with the
Custom Receiver (which is not that difficult) but also with custom UI
and UI bindings (this is possible) and Events control to update all of
the custom UI.

The two GCC players that can play gapless that I found are, Hifi Cast
and squeeze2cast, both employ uninterrupted stream flow and static
metadata (or no metadata), HiFi Cast populates metadata at the begging
of the flow but does not change the metadata when playing different
tracks in the flow.

Google Play does play gapless, they have implemented Media Source
Extensions, but since they play back mp3 only (even if you upload flac)
, this is again not a solution.

I don't think there is an easy solution to real, non-flow gapless
playing currently available without creating a Custom Receiver with
Custom UI and Event Handlers. And this is not trivial work.

Here is the GCC issue to enable live update to metadata without
restarting the stream.

https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/117796638

If this is resolved, one could look into sending a message from the
player to the receiver in the gapless flow and update the metadata
accordingly. I certainly look forward to play without breaks as intended
and display up to date metadata.

That's odd. I can see why the item in the queue would be different. But
the background image's URL should be set by the -currentcover.js- file.
This listens for the current track, and 'emits' the cover URL. Both the
now-playing and queue views listen for this, and set the background too
it. So, its odd that they are different. Not sure how that could occur.
I'll look into this.

An issue I thought was only there in the old web UI code: on streams
which update their metadata (eg. radio stream) the playlist would not
always update, while the currently playing song does. I thought I fixed
this in the web UI a few days ago... but anyway, Material isn't using
that code at all. Are you caching some data a bit too aggressively?

26305

You can see the correct title at the bottom. In the playlist panel the
previous title is shown. This might have been this way for a long time.
But the great new artwork background makes it really obvious.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: CastBridge = integrate Chromecast players with LMS (squeeze2cast)

2018-12-20 Thread mruddo

Just wanted to add my thanks for this plugin.

I've just re-organised my Squeezebox setup, and because of space issues,
I switched an SB3 in my living room, with a receiver I had in another
room... Trouble is, that left me without any visible display (aside from
the remote obviously). So, using this plugin, and syncing my Chromecast
with the main player, I now get a nice display of album cover art and
track details on my TV which is great.

With this setup, I'm still listening to the audio output from my
stereo/squeezebox, and just using the plugin's display so show what it
is playing.

The only issue I found is that I have to make sure the plugin's
configured to play FLAC so as not to impact crossfade, but that's fine,
however I'm wondering if it would be possible to effectively configure
the plugin to just not output/decode audio as in my case it's
superfluous? Just a thought - it would effectively then be a meta-data
only display, and have a lot less work to do.

Another nice to have - It would be nice if the display were configurable
too - i.e. so I could add/change the displayed metadata. (e.g. to add
detail like year/genre etc. as preferred.)

Whilst I appreciate this is deviating somewhat from the plugin's
intended use, this setup is by far the best solution I've found to
display what's playing on my TV!

Thank you again - it works great!

P.S. Would it be possible down the road to have the ability to also move
items from the main menue to the top of the menue (or pin them to the
top)?
I.e. I often use 'Favourites' and 'Radio' - which are at the very bottom
and need to be scrolled down to in the mobile smartphone view.

Have a look in the main material thread. There is a long discussion
about this. New version fixes it.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Material Skin: Problem with Safari on iOS 12.1.1 iPhone SE and Mojave

2018-12-20 Thread rkrug

Hi

I love the Material skin - thanks. I only always get "shocked" when I
open the settings of LMS, which only use the old skin... but that's a
different story.

I have problems when using the Material skin in iOS 12.1.1 on an iPhone
SE and under Mojave.

The "Durchsuchen in Safari is on both skins empty.

26302

Initially, it was working on the Mac.

Clearing Cache, restarting Safari, does not work, same for reinstalling
the Material skin.

It works on Firefox (iOS and Mojave) and I am using Fluid
https://fluidapp.com now on Mojave where it also works.

Let me know, if you need any further info to debug this - or am I doing
something wrong?

Thanks,

Rainer
