One thing you could do for me (if you haven't and I missed it): would
behaviour make any difference if you played a track in Connect mode vs.

Nope. See https://github.com/librespot-org/librespot/issues/342 - I

2019-08-18 Thread Michael Herger

I have reinstalled a clean version of LMS and then it works, but as soon
as I add the Spotty Plugin v2.8, it fails as above.

I have seen issues where LMS would hang for quite a bit while trying to
authenticate in the past, too. I tried to mitigate it. But eventually I
think the behaviour was also improved by some more tweaks to HTTPS
handling. Please make sure you run the latest and greatest LMS code (I
think the changes were around end of 2018 or very early 2019).

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty 2.8.x - Spotify Connect for your Squeezebox

2019-08-18 Thread Michael Herger

There's one thing that is strange but maybe has nothing to do with the
plugin. The difference in the loudness is sometimes really high. You
play one song, almost hear nothing and increase the volume...NExt song
could be upt to about 10db more (I did a measure with a few examples).

Do you have normalization enabled (Settings/Player/Audio)? If so, make
sure you haven't disabled it for Spotty (Settings/Player/Spotty).

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Touch vs. SQB Classic with TIDAL plug

2019-08-18 Thread Michael Herger

Decided to give Tidal a try and quickly noticed that my old SQB classic
have problems with playing Tidal FLAC's without glitches and
stuttering.

Q ; is the Tidal plugin even supposed to work with the old SQB classic?

Yes, it should work. Alas...

If it is, what could be done to have it play the flac stream correctly?

the problem with the Classic and streaming FLAC is its minuscule buffer
compared to the Touch. It can only buffer very few seconds of audio
data. The slightest hiccup in your connection (or the player's) can lead
to re-buffering and hiccups.

I'm not using LMS since that is the whole idea for me, ie not have to
rely on running a home server. I also tested with the player connected
ta LMS (7.9.2.somthing) but it makes no difference.

LMS would allow you to use "proxied streaming". In this setup the audio
data would be proxied through your LMS, which gives a somewhat improved
behaviour.

Also worth mentioning is that it seems that it's not all files that
doesn't play correctly. But playing the same "problem" files again and
again show the same stuttering + there's no difference if I connect by
wire or wifi .

I think there have been issues with some FLAC files using a really high
compression. Maybe you could give us the track's URL so somebody can verify?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Google Music plugin

2019-08-18 Thread askvictor

Unfortunately, given that Google Music is due to be retired soon,
there's not much work happening on this, particularly given that any
work with the API is stabbing in the dark, since it's all unoffical
reverse-engineered anyway. It's time to change to another system. I
believe Spotify is well supported in LMS (for paid subscriptions at
least), and has a publicly documented API, so is likely to be more
resilient. No idea about Tidal though.

I don't have anything non-standard "exposed" to the internet (it's a
vanilla install), but of course you must have SOME exposure to the
internet for Spotify to work.

I believe that Spotty is hanging the entire LMS server while it looks to
login (but is unable) to Spotify servers.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: UPnPBridge = integrate UPnP/DLNA players with LMS (squeeze2upnp)

2019-08-18 Thread Ron F.

I have been using the UPnPBridge plugin for a few days, streaming to the
Android app BubbleUPnP, and I now have a question regarding how to
configure my server's firewall.

My home server, running LMS is using iptables for it's firewall,
configured using ufw. I try to keep the machine locked down fairly
tight. I have found however that after a reboot, that I have to disable
the firewall for a while, in order for LMS to be successfully notified
of the presence of the UPnP rendering point on my phone. I believe this
is because squeeze2upnp is broadcasting SSDP M-SEARCH packets using
destination port 1900, but the server's source port is chosen randomly,
and changes on every reboot of the server. The rendering point, (in my
case BubbleUPnP,) responds using as it's destination, the server's
source port, not 1900! Since I don't know what that port is going to be,
I have come to the conclusion, possibly incorrectly, that I have to
either drop the firewall for LMS to learn about the rendering point, or
accept all UDP packets that come from my phone, neither solution seems
acceptable.

It might be possible that a different firewall could do some kind of
stateful packet inspection on UDP packets, and take care of this kind of
issue - I don't know. It exceeds my knowledge concerning server
security.

So, question: is it possible to get squeeze2upnp to use a fixed source
UDP port number on every use for sending SSDP M-SEARCH packets, a
configurable port number that I can choose?

Since I do not use the tag 'recording' I am not sure about that. But
basically you may use any custom tag in minimserver, there are no
limitations.

I played around with the dynamic tag menus in LMS Custom Scan. I works

CenturyLink has said they will fix their issue later today.
But it seems odd that Spotty would cause this behavior of NO access to

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBCiPlayer V1.6 (and higher) & BBCiPlayerExtra 2.0 (and higher) Support

2019-08-18 Thread bpa

@paul.burden

I booted an old XP laptop with a Pentium M 1.7 which is roughly same as
your processor.

Before the LMS July 2018 patch and plugin 1.6.* - the BBC live station
would always show symptoms you describe - long pause and then stop/start
playback before running smoothly and requires the "delay" setting to be
1-2 minutes.

It's been a while since I booted the laptop so I had to instal latest
LMS nightly and 1.6.7 and set BBCiPlayer setting delay is "none" and
tested on an SB Receiver so transcoding is required. - BBC live playback
is practically instant and no stop/start.

The first "Live" station to play had a slight initial pause of about 3-5
secs. But subsequent plyaback of station had no pause - so I put this
down to Windows caching faad.exe & flac.exe needed for trasncoding.

So, in summary - the symptoms are of a system that is either not up of
date somewhere (or perhaps an old cached version is being used) or else
something is messing with the internet streams (e.g. security s/w).

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Settings Manager instructions?

2019-08-18 Thread kidhazy

Anyone got instructions on how to use Settings Manager to export player
settings from one LMS server to another?

I've updated Settings manager with the fix mentioned here
https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?109113-Settings-Manager-no-longer-works&p=914841&viewfull=1#post914841

I've gone through and can copy player settings from one player to
another, but I want to export the settings as I'll be moving a player
(Boom) to another LMS server.

I've exported the player settings to a customer group, and can see they
end up in prefs/plugin/SettingsManager.prefs

How do I now import this to the new LMS server, and apply them to the
reattached player?

Do I just cut-n-paste the contents into the text put of Settings Manager
import option?
How much of the file do I cut'n'paste? It appears there are some header
lines, so not sure if they need to be included or not.

Anyone used/still-using this plugin? Or is there a better way to
transfer player configs between LMS servers?

Thanks,
Dean.
