I had never heard of Volumio before this post, so there's that. But I
think you answered you own question to a large extent. For me, I am
very fond of the LMS community and my development of Squeezelite-X is
like gardening. It's just a very satisfying pastime. The community is
very nice and super appreciative of what the devs do because everyone
knows we are volunteering our time. That said, I went and took a quick
look at the Volumio website. So maybe I'll dig a little deeper and see
what's there. I'm not sure I understand their business model yet, but
it looks like its core open source, but if you subscribe you get a few
extra features and plugins. That might be a bit of an issue. Why would
a dev make a plugin/app for them to make money on, or what if he/she
made a free plugin that competed with one of their subscription-only
plugins/features? They probably would not approve it. As for LMS
longevity, I think its prospects are very solid with such a mature
product and an army of users and devs. And no one to say, hey I'm not
making money on this, lets shut it down, or I'm not approving your
plugin because it undermines my business model. Maybe there is an
opportunity making a Windows 10 client like Squeezelite-X for it. (not
sure yet). I'll be looking into it.

Sorry, took a while - the fix was easy but then i had no time to test
it. The context menu should now also be visible on older players (At
least i can see them on my Boom).
I also restrict the context menu to the currently played track (i. e. it
is suppressed for other tracks in the playlist). This should work on all
clients.

Another small improvement: In the previous version the plugin always
created it's own playlist if you bookmarked a remote track. I now
changed that so that, if you are playing a saved playlist, the bookmark
will always be created for this playlist.

Thanks for getting back. I've triple checked the UN and PW, also the PW
is nothing complex, a mix of upper/lower case letters and numbers, 8
characters long. I'm in the UK, running LMS on a Win10 machine. So
nothing that peculiar as far as I can tell.

If anything springs to mind let me know and I'll give it a go.

Thanks.

wooowww :-). That's perfect, don't bother moving the cog, I can now
access settings from the burger menu! Thank you Greg

As for DisplayFusion (again, no need to change anything for it, this is
just FYI), they shift their icons left on most apps, eg Spotify. I don't
know if they manually configure for popular apps or if there's a method
to know there are icons occupying the title bar. No action needed for
me, I'm a very happy camper!

This indicates the server failed to allow the login, possibly because
the username or password was mistyped. Please check this first, when the
login is successful you will no longer see a password field in the
settings page.

That said, one other user had an issue with logins that was never
tracked down. Since the plugin works for some users it seems to be
something specific to the account, or possibly some problem in the
plugin for how it handles encoding the password request.

Unfortunately, I can't really debug that remotely. Is there anything you
can think of that might be unusual about your account? For example:
- Is your password especially complex (non alphanumeric? unusual
symbols?)
- Where are you located (I'm US, not its possible this a difference in

The plugin doesn't attempt to deal with published or air dates at all. I
can add that as a feature request, but I'll be honest that its unlikely,
date parsing and presentation localization are a pain and many podcasts
are episodic in ways that don't map to air dates.

I suspect you are seeing some air dates in "up next" because many
podcasts with a strong sense of "air date" include the date in their
titles anyway (NPR news feeds, for example).

I guess he's not (yet) tested them on 8.0. In the plugin xml files
there's a range of compatible LMS versions, and the maximum is probably
set to be 7.* or something like that. If you install a 7.9.3 (say)
install the plugins, then upgrade to 8, they should still be there,
although whether they will work I can't say.

If you go to http://downloads.isaksson.info/download/ you can download
the plugins. I can't currently remember how to install them from those
zip files, but I know it's possible. The install.xml file specifies the
maximum supported LMS version.

I notice that in
Code:

some plugins have * as the maximum, and some 7.*. It may be that some
don't work under LMS 8.

And it's a great plugin that I use almost every day!

Like others, I've poked around and looked at other software, but so far
I haven't seen anything that comes remotely close to LMS. It *can* be
complicated for a tinkerer like me, but it can also be simple enough
that my 75 year old aunt uses hers every day without any fuss. Yes, I
had to install and configure it for her, but she knows how to get just
what she wants out of the web interface. (She would not be able to
install/configure *anything*, not because she's stupid but because "I
don't understand computers" would prevent her from even trying.)

I'm extremely happy that development continues on LMS, but frankly it
would still be the best even if development stopped tomorrow. Certainly
there could be some fundamental shift down the road that suddenly makes
LMS seem lacking, but I don't have the imagination to think of what that
shift might be at the moment. I suppose too that if development stopped
tomorrow we'd eventually hit a point where future hardware would no
longer run it, but...well, I mean, we can come up with a million "what
if"s? for anything and everything. So I just continue to enjoy LMS as I
have for well over a decade now.

Am I correct in thinking that Erland's plugins are no longer available,
so the only way to be able to use them is to already have them?

I notice that they're available under 3rd Party Plugins on LMS versions

I noticed an issue after doing a clean install of LMS 8.0 and connecting
a SBR with custom clock settings.

The Custom Clock Helper applet is installed, but it's not available in
the plugin setup page.

The solution is to revert to LMS 7.9.3, the Custom Clock Helper plugin
is then picked up, and you can then upgrade back to LMS 8.0

If only I knew what "progressive volume" is, I'd happily test if I do
have it :-)
