I didn't change anything - just updated.

Just double check the settings. You might have changed it long ago, but
it only came into effect with the latest Spotty update.

(Distinctly off topic and I apologise...)

I was going to do exactly this with a Pi 4 (and did initial testing with
that), but then remembered I had an old NUC 2820 machine in a cupboard
doing nothing
(https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/78953/intel-nuc-kit-dn2820fykh.html)...and
I recently went down this path.

So recently I decided to get on board the docker train, and I thus now
have all of these running in docker:

- 1 * Reverse-Proxy/Let's Encrypt SWAG gateway thing
- 1 * LMS (have previously run two, and might again, kids vs. adults -
rather than trying to use multiple library approaches within LMS...you
just switch the player between the available sources and off you go,
  works well!)
- 1 * MariaDB
- 1 * MariaDB-backup tool
- 1 * OneDrive (this only runs overnight for syncing my music to my
work library, as this one -is- a bit of a CPU hog when it does its
  periodic re-syncs otherwise)
- 2 * Headless Kodi instances (allowing for 24/7 library updates
without the need to run library scans on client machine -> pointing at
two libraries, one for kids and one for adults)
- 1 * Beets (for largely automated incoming music processing)
- Some youtube-dl and other containers I spin up as-needed

...all running on that puny (Celeron 2830, 8gb ram, some sort of basic
2TB SSD in there) machine...without performance issues. CPU rarely goes
over 10% in day to day use.

The Pi 4 is now doing duties with PiHole and PiVPN - but it would easily
run two LMS instances I'd say. Initial scans might take a while but
other than that, the WebUI/Material was very responsive (I have about
1800 albums in all), Spotty worked fine etc.

Docker is _great_ for this sort of thing. You have one compose file
which very clearly defines all the ports and folders used, so everything
is nicely in one place. Then simple commands to upgrade, start and stop
the services defined in there. I have another docker-LMS instance on a
Kodi (Coreelec, Odroid N2) machine I take when we travel (well,
theoretically, travel being a bit constrained of late :( )

And the performance is near nativeamazingly so, really. From a
practical perspective you just can't tell it's virtualised really. So
in summary, I think for multiple libraries the docker approach with
separate LMS instances is a great way to go for multiple libraries, if
you're on the fence...

Changes:

- Handle Modern Standby better. Windows 10 Modern Standby is an
alternative to regular Windows sleep found on devices such as Surface
Pro, Surface Go. It works differently than regular Sleep and the
application does not get any messages when the computer goes to sleep

timeout eventually (often overnight for example) and SLX was slow to

Well not quite. But I'll happily send one through the interwebs.

Decided to do my annual LMS maintenance today. It's been 16-months since
I touched the server, except Windows update does it's own thing.

Delighted to find the BBC Sounds plugin. Updated to LMS 8.2, added the
plugin, rebooted, added BBC userid/password and it all worked great.
Thank you.

One request, I know BBC Sounds has their own bookmarks, but I'd really
like to add a show to the LMS Favorites. I listening pretty much every
day to an iPlayer/Sounds reply of that days show. Previously I was able
to manually edit the LMS Favs file and add the show.

Then when I selected it from the favorites menu it would display the
list of shows. I don't have to remember if it's in BBC Sounds Bookmarks
or BBC Sounds Subscriptions

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Material Skin

2021-08-12 Thread cpd73

For 2.6.1 I -think- i have resolved the issue where swiping up from the
bottom in Android (and iOS?), to show the navigation bar, caused
Material to switch view. For 2.6.0 I changed the WebApp mode from
"fullscreen" to "standalone". "standalone" mode allows the WebApp to
function like a normal-ish app, but shows the statusbar (top of screen)
and navigation bar (bottom of screen). In this mode there is no issue
with swiping, as the navigation controls are always shown. But with
Chrome the navigation bars are drawn in a grey area of a different
colour to Material - which looks odd to me. "fullscreen" hides the
status and navigation bars - and you need to swipe to show these. This
allows more screen space for Material. Prior to 2.6.0 fullscreen was the
standard mode, but some users (rightly) complained about issues when
swiping up to show the Android navigation would also cause Material to
think its bottom nav bar had been pressed, and change view.

As stated, I'm pretty confident for 2.6.1 I have fixed this issue with
Material changing view, etc, when swiping to show navigation. So, my
question is, should I leave the WebApp in "standalone" mode (with
controls shown), or run in "fullscreen" (pre 2.6.0 behaviour) now that
the issue is resolved? It would be nice to allow both, but (AFAIK) a web
app can only have 1 manifest file - and its this file that defines the
mode.

if u look at the attached, the rate seems to have changed. I seem to
recall I did either see 320k or sometimes a FLAC rate there... now it's

curious. It's not a problem at all since bandwidth isn't an issue in my

After playing a short section directly with
sounds://_m000y5fp_m000y5fq_0
I checked and Sounds still showed sounds://_m000y5fp_m000y5fq_1680

But after a long delay (i'm guessing an update sent to BBC or cache
expiry) - the link now shows sounds://_m000y5fp_m000y5fq_18

Interesting on a program with "play 1 min left" a brief press of rewind
- does NOT reset to start but a long press and turn knob in timebar does
work.

I think I set the player to "sleep at end of song" (in case I fell
asleep before end) so perhaps LMS shut the connection down within say 5
seconds of end of program and this resume point has been saved.

If that is the case, if restarting a program, make sure it starts say 20

Hmmm, I'm having trouble recreating this. Although I've never seen the
"0 minutes left", which is probably the problem.
I presume you are not able to press rewind (briefly) before the end of
the programme, because it is so near the end.So, by the time you
press rewind, the audio has stopped and it is not reseeking but just
starting the resume point again.

I'll have a think what can be done about that. Maybe the answer is just
to add an additional "Play from the start" menu item when a programme
has a resume point

When I select the program and get the display "Play - 0 minutes left".

I have to press play. I then get about 5 secs of end of program.
If left alone it then stop.s
If I press rewind briefly - I get the same 5 secs and then stops.
If I press rewind and get timebar and then use knob to go back to a time

You can rewind to the beginning by short pressing on rewind on the boom.
Or by going to a seek point using any controller e.g. material skin.
(although its a bit odd that it said 0 minutes left)

Clearly I need stronger coffee! The first two Music Mixes that I tried
worked happily, so I assumed that all would play outside of the UK. I
just tried the errant example from my laptop and it says 'not available
outside of UK', however others do work, so it's hit and miss.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

this because Spotty uses Librespot where tracks are not reported and

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Qobuz.com streaming plugin

2021-08-12 Thread d6jg

I've noticed an annoying tagging anomaly from Qobuz and I'm wondering
whether it is fixable inside either the plugin or Online Music Library
integration generally?

Here is an example
https://play.qobuz.com/album/0060252783189

If you look at this in the Qobuz web player you will see that although
quite clearly the Album Artist (in our terms) is Etta James each and
every track has a Track Artist of "Various Interprets" - in other
similar examples it can also be "Various Artists".
If you add this to your Qobuz library and then into LMS via integration
it is the same.

Obviously this is a tagging error at Qobuz end but I'm wondering whether
it can be corrected inside LMS as follows

Where track artist = "various interprets/artists" but album artist =
something else then insert album artist into track artist table instead
of track artist

I already have that sort of set up - currently 1 x Pi3, 1 x Core32 and
an old HP Microserver with SSD all using the same QNAP NFS store. The HP
is still the fastest! There is another Pi3 at a remote location with a
synced copy of the music files on another QNAP. I recognise that most
people don't have the amount of kit that I do. Multiple dockers on a
single Pi sounds an interesting approach - an excuse to get another Pi4!

The problem with all on one machine is port 3484, which can't be

It seems very likely to me that this is time related (or lack of) and if
so it is perhaps a small flaw in pCP where if it is operated
disconnected from LAN/WLAN it will never have a valid time (unless you
add an RTC board).

Perhaps a small modification to pCP time settings where at initial setup
you could write your own time setting i.e. "if my Pi can't get a valid
time give it this one just so that things work"

On the other hand one wonders why WWTT won't work with Epoch at boot -
could it rather than the missing time itself be the lack of any timezone
on which to calculate offset?

What would be great would be if LMS supported the concept of users. Then
each user could have their own favourites, playlists, virtual libraries,
Spotty credentials, BBC sounds credentials, language, etc. Could be
achieved by adding an optional "user_id:XXX" parameter to JSONRPC calls,

No, material does not require a restart of LMS - just reload Material in
your browser, as Material does not get any event when the language has
changed. (This is the same as for the Default skin).

Having Material use a different language setting from LMS would not
work, as some strings come from LMS. Therefore you would have a mixture
of languages.

Ah... That is somewhat of an issue. Because I myself am more comfortable
with the interface being in English whereas my kid (who uses the mobile
device and thus for whom I installed Material) rather sees Dutch. It
would be nice if the language could be selected per device, but checking
the cookies that my own machine sends to LMS it seems that in the main
interface language is a global setting as well, be it that the main
interface allows changing the language on the fly whereas Material
requires a restart of LMS?

Yes, that's becaause 2.6.0 tries to detect if the app is fullscreen, and
applies the padding. Detecting full screen does not seem to work on all
devices, so for 2.6.1 it will do this for all iOS devices - even those
with a home button, where its not really required.

Also, for 2.6.1 I've removed the longpress handler from the 'Now
playing' bottom nav button. This should -hopefully- help when swiping up
from the iOS bar at the bottom.

*Material debug:* 1. Launch via http: //SERVER:9000/material/?debug=json
(Use http: //SERVER:9000/material/?debug=json,cometd to also see update
messages, e.g. play queue) 2. Open browser's developer tools 3. Open
console tab in developer tools 4. REQ/RESP messages sent to/from LMS
will be logged here.

Everything still works fine without the ?ios. My understanding is that
?ios adds a few pixels of additional spacing between the iOS task
switching bar you can see at the very bottom of your screen shot, and
the "Wiedergabe" icon you see above it. Some people were triggering the
iOS task switching when trying to use the Material Skin buttons at the
bottom.

(Somebody feel free to correct me if I'm wrong - that's what I thought
it was being used for!)
