It's no that I need that. It's just the difference between the working
and not working. A really funny thing is I found albums playing on
normal pitch  So the input from from is doing something with
squeezelite and ices. the properties of the album is 224kbps CBR *48kHz*
MP3.

forcing -r 48100 gives high pitch again.:confused:

Hi,
I am trying to get youtube video to play on pi4b.
I have two pi4 devices, one a server, the other a player.
I have Youtube loaded into LMS
and playing audio out from both devices to LMS and usb dacs. This all
works.
I want to play video out on one pi, and sound on the other. I get
video outputs from both hdmi ports on my pi4 ok.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Pipe Squeezelite to Icecast

2022-03-01 Thread Matt Drown

squeezelite is going to take any input and turn it into pcm uncompressed
16 bit audio. (flac/mp3/ogg/etc)

ICES (not icecast) is going to read that and send ONLY ogg-vorbis
upstream. The upstream either needs to deal with this, or you need to
use a different tool.

In my usecase Azuracast is my receiver, and accepts ogg-vorbis and
re-encodes to mp3.

If you need something other than ogg-vorbis streamed out of squeezelite,
you can't use ICES, you need another tool that accepts STDIN as input.
Darkice appears to send mp3 data, but my metadata update script is only
going to push metadata via ICES.

No difference there. I think it is already 44100 by default.

>From what I see in the ices log It starting in VBR 44100 2 channels and
Icecast shows ogg vorbis. When I connect to icecast with the Radiocaster
(windows) tool it shows an audio mpeg stream and this is not happening.
I can not seem to find any option to change this with ices2. Can
squeezelite or ices force this?

My mp3 library have many different formats CBR and VBR.

I suspect that you are playing it with a URL found outside of my plugin

Try playing it from the menu in Radio Now Playing.

Maybe Ac/Dc would look better than Ac/dc if you consider camelcasing

Yes the Hi-Fi Berry one does emulate keystrokes.

Actually thinking about the the sMS-200 running squeezelite has the
choice to run LMS remotely on another computer - therefore I could plug
the usb dongle (which emulates a keyboard) into the computer - which in
turn should control the volume on LMS.

Just an update, you don't need pulse audio if you just want to stream
out, just pipe squeezlite output directly to ices:

Code:

squeezelite -s 192.168.0.100 -a 16 -o - | ices ices-conf.xml

I got this too starting from yesterday. Has worked flawlessly for years.
Did not update anything before this.

Today, I updated the server, LMS and Spotty. Still the same error.

I even nuked my Spotty settings and tried again. Same error.

I got this error in server.log, but might not be related (I also updated

I wondered why all my others were 50/50 too, but I only noticed it on a
new install on a cheap refurbed fire Tablet I just picked up. I figured
that all other instance were installed at 50/50, then, similar to other
prefs, remain after updates. The new install os obviously 70/30, So
that's why I thought that I did it, and noticed I couldn't undo.

Had it not been 70/30, I would have never noticed the dragging issue.

In principle, running application as root is not a good idea as it means
things are not being done properly and could end up very badly.

I think you need to read up about running services which I don't know
much but you probably need to create a script where the sequence of
commands is done but with each step tested.

A simpler approach might be to check - if it worked before and not now
- what has changed ?

Spotty is generating a lot of threads, so CPU is overloaded and LMS is

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] squeezelite output to file for snapcast

2022-03-01 Thread gekoch

hmm I was able to solve it...

as soon as snapserver started and no /tmp/snapfifo was available
snapserver did create a file with "snapserver" as owner and group

when I then tried to launch squeezlite with:

Code:

/usr/bin/squeezelite -s 192.168.1.47 -n evita -a 16 -o - > /tmp/snapfifo

I would get an Persmission denied.
When I stop snpaserver and let it run from the terminal with root
everything is working as excepted.

So what is the best way to start squeezelite also under the "snapserver"
owner so it has permission to write to the /tmp/snapfifo file?
Or should I both run as root?

Squeezelite cannot just generate junk - it has to play audio all the
time. It outputs the audio from its source or silence (which is a stream
of PCM bytes of data) if there is nothing from the source.

Use "tee" to see what is being put into fifo.
Use squezelite logging to see exactly what is going on.

IIRC if LMS is playing nothing to the player, squeezelite when
outputting to a file will output silence (probably bytes of zeroes as
PCM) as quick as fast as the destination will accept.

SO What has changed on the LMS playing side ? Are there no files to play

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Radio Now Playing plugin

2022-03-01 Thread Paul Webster

Beta 0.0.19l Now includes the live streams for all of the RTBF stations

RTBF Mix does not seem to provide any song or programme information -
possibly too complex for them since it seems to be a "best of" station
playing output from other stations in their group.

The apostrophe is missing from their song information - my guess is that
somewhere in their systems they have lost it because of encoding
problems between systems. They also put a lot in UPPERCASE which I
transform to leading upper and the rest as lowercase - which can lead to
errors like AC/DC become Ac/dc

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] squeezelite output to file for snapcast

2022-03-01 Thread gekoch

now after it has worked for almost an year I have a problem with the
filesize of the /tmp/snapfifo.
It gets insanely big as big as the hardrive allows it (several GB)

How can I stop it from growing that big in a matter of seconds after I
launched:

Code:

/usr/bin/squeezelite -s 192.168.1.47 -a 16 -o - > /tmp/snapfifo
