Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] PiCorePlayer - Installing Tidal --- Error Message - Plugin Failed to Load ...........
pCP is a minimal software. Originally less than 15MB. Player Only. While LMS is small in today's software world, in the scheme of pCP, it represents significant bloat to someone wanting to just be a player. So we leave it as an additional download. 8.1.0 is the latest version, there are no required patches. Those that are on 8.1.0 and saw that something happens when you run the patch update..it is a placebo effect. It does download a few updates that are only relevant to an upcoming release of pCP. piCorePlayer a small player for the Raspberry Pi in RAM. OK, Thanks ! --- My Thoughts I was in the Software Business for over 30 years, so I am familiar with software releases etc. --- The people I help mostly just want to push a button and play music Ideally, the fewer buttons to install a given release is better I have been a user of PiCorePlayer/LMS for over 10 years now. The release packaging of PiCorePlayer is not obvious to me, and the people that I help are pretty much clueless and gravitate to a Volumio solution at the first sight of a problem... Not sure what your objectives are in terms of getting new users running PcP. But ideally, a PcP Release such as 8.1.0 would have everything included when you downloaded it, patches and all... --- Yes it is more work to patch a couple releases with Bug Fixes. (Not development). And having just 1 or 2 releases on your download page should be plenty... I don't think you would want people going back 3 or 4 releases to install PcP, so I'm not sure why they are there We used to drop support of our Software Releases on a Regular Basis to limit the amount of Patches. And I think, the way you have things structured is that; No matter which version of PcP you download, you get the same version of LMS? - Correct? -- This is confusing to me. It would seem that you would want to package LMS with the Player portion of PcP.. But at any rate, I love the features of PcP and encourage all of the new people I install to donate to your efforts Cut-Throat's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=43167 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116212 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

The problem I was wrestling with is that I'm obliged to follow their branding to keep within what's allowed under their distribution policy, but their branding is so bland that it is essentially a colour, the 3 boxes don't really represent anything recognisable as their brand once the colour is gone. So I compromised with including the monochrome BBC logo so it could be themed, but with the orange splash underneath for the Material icon. This is similar to their Android BBC Sounds icon which is what I used for the standard LMS png icon. I've got no strong views on this, and happy to switch, but just as an aside (and I'm not an expert either!), I agree that Material "action" icons should be monochrome, but should (what are essentially) "app" icons be monochrome? I don't see that in Material themed apps elsewhere. e.g. the right side bar on Google Sheets or Google Docs to access embedded apps are represented by Material style colour app icons (for google calendar, Maps, contacts and add-ons etc). But anyway, I can see why you want to maintain the look, I'll have a think, maybe I should just use the monochrome "BBC" squares ? To clarify. The main LMS package in pCP does not contain architecture specific files. This is what gets updated when you press the "Update LMS" Button. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce : BBC Sounds Plugin
Release 2.24.1 updates the branding on the icons. The rebranding for BBC platforms that was 'announced last year' (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-58970323) has now reached all their apps, including the BBC Sounds apps. So I felt obliged to propagate it through to the plugin. 37633 Hilariously, those familiar with the comedy programme W1A will know that they predicted this branding years ago, in a weirdly familiar way to the BBC Sounds branding :D:D !! https://twitter.com/scottygb/status/1450436596336050188 +---+ |Filename: BBCSounds2_svg.png | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=37633| +---+ Stuart McLean expectingtofly plugins : 'bbc sounds' (https://github.com/expectingtofly/lms_bbc_sounds_plugin),' global player (uk)' (https://github.com/expectingtofly/lms_globalplayer_plugin), 'times radio' (https://github.com/expectingtofly/lms_times_radio_plugin), 'uk radio player' (https://github.com/expectingtofly/lms_ukradioplayer_plugin), 'virgin radio (uk)' (https://github.com/expectingtofly/lms_virgin_radio_plugin) and the 'radio favourites plugin' (https://github.com/expectingtofly/lms_radio_favourites_plugin) for bbc sounds help see the 'bbc sounds wiki' (https://github.com/expectingtofly/lms_bbc_sounds_plugin/wiki). expectingtofly's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=63263 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113045 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spicefly SugarCube - DSTM and Google Traffic
I do use Trackstat, but for filtering by playcount rather than rating - I've never managed to get my head around rating my music, and it seems a bit late to start with nearly 60,000 tracks! The play count filter still seems to work just fine with SugarCube, but I have recently decided to uninstall other plugins by Erland (CustomScan and CustomBrowse) as they seemed to be working less reliably in the very latest versions of LMS - I'm on the nightly betas, so currently 8.3.0. With SugarCube in such heavy use, I was finding I directly browse through my library so much less anyway, so didn't really need the extra views that these plugins presented, and the library function of CustomBrowse that I used for separating out our children's music was replaced by the native Additional Browse Modes in any case. goharbourview123's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=23031 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=112703 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Yes, Double checked after you posted this .. I wonder if this may have something to do with it. If you recall I was having difficulty installing Tidal a couple months ago and you wrote this post when you figured it out. The log snippet you posted was complaining about lack of IO::Socket::SSL. As long as that problem is not resolved you'll have problems using LMS.
