Good tip, sweet! I am seeing an unexpected behaviour, you may be able to help me out. I have been using MS for control, and my primary receiver Zone is z2. I also have LMS connected into z1. Power on LMS, z2 comes on, can play music and control volume etc. Select z1 in zone menu, z1 powers up, again vol etc. controls perfectly. Select z2 in zone menu, z2 is now controlled for vol. All great and running smoothly. Now turn of the LMS (via MS) and LMS powers off, but Denon Z1 & Z2 stay on. Turn LMS back on (MS) and I can turn Z1 & Z2 off using Denon AVR settings and they turn off. Then power down LMS (MS). I had debug on while I was trying it out, attached just in case you want to have a look. 38970 Earlier in my testing, may not be in the log file, I found no responses at all for volume or on/off by the receiver, and I could only resolve it by rebooting pCP (and by default LMS). This happened a couple of times. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty 4.0 - integrate local library with your Spotify collection (LMS 8+)
I can't think this is an account issue (especially since I've gone in and removed all links to apps in the Spotify account) and that the account works on everything but LMS but simply won't sign back in. This isn't an account issue. Are other network connections (eg. MySB integration, online radio) working? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty 4.0 - integrate local library with your Spotify collection (LMS 8+)
After debugging my whole setup, it seems that my network issues were mostly related to running LMS in a VM. The only remaining issue I have left is Spotify occasionally getting stuck on the very last second of a track and not advancing automatically. Is this related to the OGG setting? I don't know. I've seen this happen occasionally, too. I'll have to ask my kids how the situation currently is, as they use Spotty all day long, while I'm mostly using a mix of local music, Spotty and radio. And I think Spotty is configured slightly different in my office vs. at home. I'll double check. ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

@Sportswagoneer I have made some changes that should prevent this situation from occurring in the future. These changes will be included in version 4.7 of the plugin, scheduled for release within the next few days. Thanks for your help in locating the source of the problem. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty 4.0 - integrate local library with your Spotify collection (LMS 8+)
So all of a sudden Spotty isn't interfacing with the Spotify system. Looking back at the logs it appears it has been having difficulty with this for a few days but I hadn't tried to use it in that period. So when I tried to go onto it, I got an error message about it not being able to connect for some reason, which I didn't get hold of, and to check something in the settings (which I did and it all looked OK). So I deleted the account from spotty and thought it would work to sign in again. When I try to do this it presents with the Spotify connect thing (which doesn't work, even though the authorisation appears in the players - even if I run it on Spotify using the machine LMS is installed on - simply I click the Spotify authorisation option, and then nothing at all happens, even after several minutes). If I try and enter the Spotify account username and password (which are correct) on applying this, it just comes up Authorisation failed In the logs all it says is [22-10-27 22:18:38.4980] Plugins::Spotty::Settings::Auth::handler (83) Authorization failed: Though looking back through the logs I've also been getting earlier: [22-10-27 21:50:41.3300] Plugins::Spotty::OPML::__ANON__ (198) Failed to get featured playlists and/or token - do not continue [22-10-27 21:50:45.8988] Plugins::Spotty::OPML::__ANON__ (198) Failed to get featured playlists and/or token - do not continue [22-10-27 21:51:46.6217] Plugins::Spotty::API::Token::_gotTokenInfo (168) Failed to create session or connect to servers. These were coming up when neither LMS nor Spotty were being used to do anything I can't think this is an account issue (especially since I've gone in and removed all links to apps in the Spotify account) and that the account works on everything but LMS but simply won't sign back in. LMS and the host have also been restarted but this hasn't made any difference at all and the errors don't suggest what I can do about this... Any ideas? Okay. I think I see what is going on. It's a timing problem that can happen when the volume is being rapidly changed on a fast network. In this case, the SB volume was being decreased from 40 to 27, which generated 13 consecutive volume change requests to the plugin in .35 seconds at a rate of more than 1 every .03 seconds. Despite logic in the plugin that buffers volume requests in order to prevent overloading the AVR in cases such as this, it sent a second request to the AVR (vol 27) before the first one (vol 39) completed, which is not necessarily a problem in and of itself. However, the first one completed just as the second one was being sent, causing the socket to be closed and creating the error. That doesn't explain the loop, however, or why the plugin's error handling routine is apparently not being invoked to take care of the situation. I will look into how and where this timing problem should be addressed in the long term, possibly in LMS. For now, I will look at changing the plugin to better detect and prevent the scenario from happening and try to get some form of that in the upcoming v4.7 release, which is imminent. In the meantime, I would suggest refraining from aggressively "spinning the volume dial". With regard to that, are you using a client app such as Squeezer or iPeng to control the player, or just the SB Touch player itself? I ask because there are differences in how each of the client apps handles volume changes. My favorite in that regard is the Material Skin client which, in addition to the standard hardware/software volume buttons, supports changing it via a swipe up/down on the Now Playing screen and buffers the resultant volume change requests in a smooth and intuitive manner. You also might want to consider upgrading to LMS v8.3, as the version of v8.2 that you are running has not been updated in over a year and there are fixes and improvements happening on a regular basis. By the way, I understand that this problem is a major one that has caused you some real inconvenience, and I appreciate your patience and cooperation. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] announce: ShairTunes2W - Airtunes on LMS (forked version with Windows support)
I noticed that the piCorePlayer has a setting called Shairport-sync under the tweaks tab. I guess that ShairTunes2W exposes all Squeezebox players instead of just a single player? Anyway, I did experiment a bit with the ShairTunes2W plugin but experienced a few annoying quirks: after a while of use and inactivity I need to reboot my piCorePlayer because there is no more sound or sometimes there is no more artwork on the player. Unfortunately it wasn't at a time I could investigate. There is only a bit of caching going on in the plugin when you view a podcast list (for 10 minutes) The plugin is going via the Global API which is the direct route (and the same as their mobile app), so i'm not sure why it would be different. It could be that I need to put something in the url to stop webcaching at their end. I'll keep an eye out to try and investigate, or you could prod me again when you notice it happening and I'll see if I can trace it through to confirm. Yes, my mistake and now updated in my post above, but the (correctly named) series is saved as a Favourite and does, eventually, show the full episode list via any route through the menus, but often with a significant delay compared to the native Global Media interfaces. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Radio Now Playing plugin
Beta 0.0.28a - Start adding Rogers (Canada) - 22 done so far of the 50 or so I have added representative samples of each station group (e.g. CityNews, Country, KiSS, SONiC, Sports Network). In general, the stations with music (apart from Country) will not play outside of Canada. There was a lot of copy/paste for the station configuration so plenty of scope for mixing up some of the info. Experiments have shown that the song timing is not very accurate, especially around adverts and news breaks. For music stations you should get artist, title, cover, album (sometimes). For speech programmes you should get the programme / segment name and sometimes some artwork. If things do not look right then please check the web site of the broadcaster first before letting me know ... just in case it is their data that is wrong rather than me getting it from the wrong place. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce : Global Player (UK) Plugin (Classic FM, Capital, Smooth, Heart, LBC etc.)
Hi Stuart - Thanks for all of the work you've done on this and the BBC Sounds plugins, probably the most used sources on my Squeezeboxes. During the recent UK turmoil I've been listening avidly to "The Rest is Politics" and "The Newsagents" Podcasts via your Global Player plugin but I'm finding that new episodes are delayed, often by several hours, compared with what's shown on their Mobile app and Web portal. Even stranger, yesterday's Newsagents episode was showing before I restarted LMS to apply the latest build but then vanished for a few hours after the restart, with earlier episodes still shown. Both Podcast series are saved as Favourites but the episode list is the same if accessed via the Global Player -> Podcast menu tree. Does this make sense to you? Is the Global Player episode list updated / cached via a timer, or is it refreshed on each lookup, and if via a timer or rate limited then would it be possible to add a manual refresh button to the menu? Or maybe they've deliberately handicapped the API to steer people towards their app? Thanks again for a really useful set of plugins.. Thanks again Sam! So then it finally happened again! I've truncated and zipped the server log file and uploaded the first part of it here. This time the LMS ended up shutting down when the disk was full, compressing the server.log to a .gz file which left the rest of the system with enough space to operate... 38967 +---+ |Filename: server.zip | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=38967| +---+ Sportswagoneer's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=35227 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=60114 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
