Yes - I was getting those too! Normally didn't originally (back 2012 -
2013 or so) - but sometime later, about when the online scaning started
failing for places like Amazon and similar (for album info & images),
the lyrics also started going to custard... Think when APIs all got
updated/changed and the shift to https for all web browser traffic
basically broke it and it's never been properly fixed. Means MediaMonkey
lyrics fall back to chartlyrics.com (which is erratic in accuracy) and
azlyrics, metrolyrics, etc. azlyrics is the one that implants urls
through out the lyric text (like after every verse) and the others are
the ones you end up with just the url to the webpage and no lyrics IIRC
(azlyrics may even do this now - as they may have 'upgraded' their
site)...

Thanks @d6jg - yes had seen that - I've traditionally tagged them at
time of ripping (via MediaMonkey mainly, occasionally manually) so they
are in the file itself - but found the auto tag of lyrics has become
erratic (probably for similar reasons to this thread). I was running
Song Lyrics to cover for it. May end up using MAI's save function, but
was trying to avoid having them in separate files in a separate
directory, etc, for the moment... :)

Michael - quick question - if MAI is not putting an artist picture file
in the album directories, and I have no configured folder with artist
artwork, etc, where is MAI saving the files - or is it not (just
dragging from web and caching temporarily or something)?

e.g. there is an artist pic for 10cc, but no artist.jpg (or png) in the
2 album folders I have for that artist (nor the parent '10cc' folder). I
have no other configured folders for MAI (in fact I have no other
folders on the NAS other than a separate playlist one - I have checked
directly on the NAS's file explorer also for files, just to be
certain).

Have I missed something obvious?

Many Thanks - I've just implemented Squeezelite-X this week in my Win10
PC to provide a third player in the house. Nice, especially in
conjunction with the material Skin. Great work @rgdawson (and @cpd73 for
contyributing the Material Skin)!

Just FYI - I noticed an odd quirk (it may already be covered previously)
with Host Name field in the application settings page. It correctly
identified both my LMS libraries by name, and had the correct ports for
them, BUT when you selected either of them it reported "-no LMS Library
Found-". Manually entering the NAS or Server IP address instead resulted
in it connecting fine and consequently it isn't issue as its all running
fine using IP library addressing.

(FWIW if relevant, my libraries are on a QNAP NAS (running QLMS), and a
Vortexbox Server).

Good Plan! :)

Although extra effort in a way... It seems an odd bug though that that
one drop down list is affected by Material Skin deployment... from what
I could see at the time everything else in settings interface was fine.
Presume Material Skin hasn't been designed specifically to deal with
settings UI?

FWIW I had the exact same issue on my Windows 10 PC the other day - I
was playing around with Material Skin to see how it looked, found a
couple of constraints that meant I needed to go back to the classic
'green' UI and there is no option to do so as that control field (drop
down list) is missing from the interface page. I was able to get around
it by reopening the settings page from a url in my browser history IIRC
- its was all garbled (the format/layout) but it had the drop down field
showing that allowed me to select the default one and save the setting,
then reload...

Doh! Good spot Jeff - a complete fail moment there I think! You are
quite right I think; I had seen the Windows references and misread what
was meant by 'local' and not thought about where the output would be.
Oddly enough I had been looking at 'Squeezelite-X'
also - so will go down that road instead...

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Local Player plugin and Squeezelite for Linux/Windows/OSX

2020-01-14 Thread Mycenius

Morning All - I've just installed this plugin last night to try out,
first time I've used it (as usually haven't listened to music while at
my computer desk); and I am having an issue where it won't actually
start, despite restarting LMS and rebooting the host NAS. I have LMS
running on a QNAP HS-453-DX NAS via QLMS and my client is a Windows 10
PC (with the latest 2019 major feature updates). All I get is "(Not
Running)" showing on the LMS page next to the tick box where you enable
the player (and the box is ticked)...

Can someone advice the first basic troubleshooting steps I should take
(e.g. anything obvious I should check is enabled or installed, etc)?

TIA

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2020-01-13 Thread Mycenius

Morning Pippin,

Another recent observation - and possibly an idiosyncrasy of my iPhone
and/or Network/LMS Environment - but I have noticed a strange lag many
of the times I open iPeng that affects the quick access bar along the
bottom. I have this customised, so mine reads: *New Music | Artists |
Albums | Genre | ...* (and my '...' more list is also sorted into a
custom sequence). The issue happens about 75% of the time when I first
open the app (e.g in the evening after work and its the first time I've
used the app that day):

What happens is it opens with what I am assuming is the default sequence
showing (although I haven't recorded it each time to verify its the same
4 options every time, and on a couple of occasions I have had a very
abbreviated list showing in the '...' more section) - and not my
sequence above - and then after a delay of anything from 10 to say 90
seconds it updates and adopts my custom sequence. On the odd occasion it
hasn't updated after about 90 seconds so I close the iPeng app and
reopen it and it has my correct sequence on opening. Everything works
fine from then on and its only the first time each 'session' - I can
close and reopen the app as often as desired after that and it will
immediately have my config showing.

I have only observed this since implementing my new QNAP HS-453DX NAS
with QLMS and building a new library on that. Because it's fanless and
relies solely on the heat sink for cooling I have it do maximum power
saving (hibernation/sleep) to keep the activity low when not actively
listening to music (to minimise the processor temperature). So I am
guessing it's caused by the lag from the 'wake on LAN' or similar being
initiated by iPeng, when its trying to connect to the library on the
NAS? But, should this cause the effect on the iPeng UI (i.e. is it
reliant on the library connection first before it adopts the user's
custom config) - or is it unrelated and might be a minor issue with my
iPeng App (e.g. needs a fresh reinstall)?

Many TIA.

One last small query - does iPeng work directly with the iOS font size
settings (i.e. the ability to enlarge/reduce the font in the UI), or is

Yes - thanks Pippin - I had updated my post above to say I had realised
I had been causing the DTTP issue (I had forgotten how the play mode
toggle worked and wasn't paying attention)! Thansk for the prompt

P.S. Do you have a donation option somewhere? I have had iPeng for a
long time (10+ years and almost as long as I've used LMS - although
obviously not as long as some people), and have got far more than my
original App Store purchase price value out of it - so was looking to
contribute something more towards the ongoing support & development. :)

Hi Pippin & All,

Quick question on defeating DTTP in iPeng - sorry if it's been covered
recently (I just spent ½ hour running searches trying to find anything
recent on it) - how do you enable this in iPeng now? I'm sure there used
to be an option to inhibit touch to play for albums & tracks (i.e you
always got the context menu to choose what you wanted)? I haven't used
LMS & iPeng much last 9-12 months and have been getting into it again
last couple of weeks or so and 3 times now I've destroyed playlists that
I've spent 30-60 minutes building by inadvertently touching (instead of
press+holding) an individual track :(

TIA

Interesting that the discovery didn't work with data enabled, that's

Yep - but I did have it on auto-update so maybe it updated at a time I
was just leaving home and dropped off my home wi-fi as it was finishing
so only had mobile data available - by the time I reached work wi-fi it
had locked up? Would iPeng look for servers by default after an update
even if the app's not 'open' on the device (which might have caused it
to try and find them on mobile data network)?

The iPad Mini is wi-fi only, and my other iPad Mini doesn't have a
mobile card so neither had mobile data available.

Hi Pippin,

iPeng 7 is looking great but I noticed something it seems to lack from
the prior iPeng - the ability to add songs to new playlists (and create
those playlists on the fly) without adding them to the actual active
playlist? Am I just blind and it's hidden somewhere - or has this
function gone from iPeng for good? It used to be great and I used it
constantly in the older version but can't seem to find it now? Sorry if
this has been asked previously I've been away a bit and haven't kept up
with this thread since 7 came out...

Just an update to say I got LMS Squeezelite working all good with the
Devialet 170 (soon to be the 200) from a Windows PC via USB. Above
solved it and only other issue was the admin rights being the same for
install run of LMS AND the network shares for the music library.

One last question - is there anyway to disable the soft volume on
Squeezelite (or lock it on 100%)?

Thanks!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Local Player plugin and Squeezelite for Linux/Windows/OSX

2014-05-06 Thread Mycenius

Hi,

Is there any issue with SqueezeLite on a Windows x64 PC? I have a PC
with a Devialet 170 connected via USB, and I have installed LMS and am
trying to get SqueezeLite to run as the player using the Devialet
(Windows USB Drivers are installed and Windows Media Player will play to
it okay).

However seem to get weird things with SqueezeLite when I install (e.g.
shows as a player in the LMS drop down list, but doesn't show at all in
the Player Tab under Settings)? Am I missing something obvious? I
installed using the windows install exe download.

I tried to search the thread to see if anyone had had a similar
experience (perhaps with a different device) but couldn't easily find
anything - so would appreciate any guidance on things to do/try...

TIA

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2012-07-21 Thread Mycenius

Hi Pippin,

I see you have been getting a bit bombarded of late! :) But I was
wondering of you had a moment to comment on the issue in iPeng with Now
Playing not displaying multiple artist names (when present), I've had a
bit of a browse/search but can't see if what I'm thinking has been
raised previously?

I was wondering if as a work around whether there's a way to switch that
lt;artistgt; field to lt;album artistgt; instead, solely in iPeng
clients? Is there a switch setting in iPeng?

I think you can change this in LMS right (although I haven't double
checked for sure)? But that's global so will affect other clients (e.g.
Web Browsers) as well, which do display multi-artist names OK...

In my library I always have the album artist as a single name (e.g. Tom
Petty and the Heartbreakers), while my artist field will have multiple
entries (e.g. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers; Tom Petty; The
Heartbreakers; plus any other individual band members I have other
albums for, and/or any guest artists on individual tracks). So
displaying lt;album artistgt; instead of lt;artistgt; would be a
usable work around that would display meaningful information in Now
Playing.

P.S. On a different tangent (probably telling you how to suck eggs here
but) have you thought of writing something to strip the semi-colons out
of the string to turn it into a single value (e.g. replace ; with , or
such like)?

Many TIA.

:)

Ahhh - right I'm with you now - I had misunderstood an earlier post
elsewhere by yourself that I thought implied iPeng can only display 1
piece of info sent from the server due to some limitation... Not that
the server was only sending 1 piece... So understand fully now.

BTW - one odd little thing I've noticed (you probably have too) - that
it seems to always be the last name in the artist list (as entered in
the file's tag field) that gets displayed... Another work-around I
thought of was just to always put the full album artist name in the
artist field last in the list... as that may cause it to always display
in iPeng then...? Haven't tested yet though...

Understood. I know from the earlier conversation you had said it was a
long-term thing to correct - and iPeng's pretty good already so was
hoping to find work around to get by indefinitely until resolved... :)

Right - gottcha - probably won't affect the background data being
broadcast by the server. I haven't quite figured out if there is a
setting for it or not, other than the advanced 'now playing' ones anyway
(i.e. the ones that display extra info on now playing on the SqBx itself
using the remote)... So might be a red herring anyway (i.e. may have my
'wires crossed')...

pippin wrote:
Sorry, I don't understand that one.

It's redundant with your first answer (i.e. only was a thought if the
server was broadcasting the data and iPeng was simply dropping the
multiple fields e.g. overwriting the same field with each subsequent
artist name rather than adding them until the last one was the one left
displayed)? But your answer makes it redundant (i.e. server doesn't'
send the info to start with).

I don't know, I'm seeing the issue with recent versions of LMS, too.
It's completely unrelated to iPeng, though, you will see the same
behavior in all other interfaces, it's the server.

A look for new and changed music _should_ be enough but cleaning up
the library doesn't always seem to work correctly.

You could file a bug at bugs.slimdevices.com

I've noticed this too FWIW. I have an auto-new changed rescan
scheduled every night and it usually corrects itself overnight, and at
worst after the second night (scan).

FWIW: I've also noticed a strange issue with the time tracking (for each
track) that displays in iPeng is all out of whack, which has also
started recently same as the above. BUT I'm assuming this is an LMS
related issue too and/or is due to my recent change to Vortexbox (or
perhaps at the extreme the network connectivity to the VBx - I'm using
ethernet over power line adapter for it rather than a wi-fi-bridge). I
haven't had to time to investigate properly and see whether the issue
replicates on my SB Touch too. My suspicion was it's LMS for Linux
EXCEPT The issue doesn't happen in LMS control panel in a web browser on
a PC or Laptop - only in iPeng on my iPads and my iPhone. Note I've got
2 iPads (a 2 and a 3) and if I have iPengHD open on both and in a web
browser on my Win7 laptop both iPads' iPeng track time is in sync but is
out of sync with reality which is correct in LMS in the web browser -
all 3 devices are using Wi-Fi back to router, then ethernet over power
to the VBx.

My VBx is running LMS Version 7.7.2 - r33908 (this is dated March but it
has been updated since I built the server in May) and the iPads are
running iPengHD 1.3.2 - I need to investigate this more to verify where
the source of the issue is but thought I'd mention it here in case
anyone else has seen it (as it seems it may be an iPeng/VBx combination
issue) or in case it's a known general issue?

Any thoughts or suggestions Pippin? I'm planning to test with using
iPeng to control by SqBx Touch instead of Vortex Player, and also test
switching (back) to LMS Library on my Win7 PC that I was using
previously to see if problem continues or not...

TIA

Belay That! As fate would have it straight after posting I've noticed
the web browser doing it too for the first time... So is almost
certainly either an LMS for Linux, or a Network issue...

A clear amp;amp; rescan usually helps.

Hi Pippin - Thanks - I'm guessing you are referring to my timing issue
comment right? I'll clear the library amp; rescan tonight and see if
that resolves it...

Cheers.

I'm not seeing any timing issues with my setup (similar eqpt but I don't

Recall some posts on similar issue at vb forums but seemed to be related
to the vb player not SB or ipeng. Might have been your posts I saw.

Hi Pippin GaryM - Don't think I've posted there yet about that issue -
doing some trials today then will as needed once i have more details...

Basically the time track in the media window (whether in iPeng or in the
LMS CP) jumps around. e.g. you start a new song that is 3:50 in length
and the played time on the left starts at 0:40 instead of 0:00, it gets
to say 1:21 then suddenly jumps to 1:59 or something, 10 seconds later
it jumps back to 0:48 or such, and ongoing it jumps around suddenly
going up 5 or 10 seconds, then occasionally jumping back 30 seconds or
more, ll the time it's not tracking consistently in real time when it's
not 'jumping' (i.e. it's running faster than actual), then it gets to
3:50 and the song hasn't finished so it ends up showing 4:17 or
something as played time... (Note: all those times are just general
examples, not actual example).

I'm running VP into my system (see signature below) but this error
happens on both iPeng and the LMS CP in web browser - so I originally
thought it was iPeng/VP sync issue - but looks like it's specifically VB
VP issue on the box, and/or LMS on Linux... I am about to do test
today with SB Touch to see if it does it directly on that, and in iPeng
managing it (if not in either case then I think it's clearly some sort
of VP player issue on the VB box itself)...

The player probably reports a wrong timestamp.

The usual progress in iPeng is not being sent from the server, iPeng
just counts seconds and just re-syncs itself whenever there's a change
or otherwise periodically. That's why you only see the jumping at
 certain times.

I believe the web interface acts the same way.

Thanks Pippin - that's interesting as I actually have another minor
problem with the server where it keeps getting the actual time out of
sync - I'm in NZ so at +12 GMT, but sometimes the VB Server's suddenly
changed the actual date time so it's effectively at about +15 or +18
GMT so I wonder if it's related to that then (the server's not reporting
a consistent time in sync with the players/clients)? Appreciate your
thoughts/response - I shall investigate further...

(I love iPeng BTW - have the HD version on 2 iPads and the standard on
my iPhone - been using it for 18 months now. An audiophile friend came
over yesterday and he and his wife were playing with it too - they use
the android squeeze commander(?) or such app on phone and the LMS CP on
a laptop; and thought iPeng was considerably better/more functional and
more user friendly, etc, than those.)

I can imagine what's going wrong there it's not so easy to keep these
things in sync when using a large input buffer.

Thanks Pippin - any thoughts? I'll keep investigating as I have time, I
used to work in I.T. so should be able to eventually figure it out...
Just a bit annoying when you can't identify source, so can't 'do
anything' about it... :)
