Looks like changing the date to the correct one fixed the problem! Thank
you so much for picking up on that setting.

Not sure why when I installed the piCorePlayer that it wouldn't have
picked up the correct date and time automatically...

Changed weather station code but same results. I set logging level to

Thank you, I was thinking the EXACT same thing when I discovered this

there any additional functionality areas that we currently don't have?
I'm not trying to knock this down, I just want to know what this offers

Not sure what I did different, but I installed 8.2 again, downloaded the

OK, updated to 8.2 and was able to download Dynamic Playlist...that's
the good news (and thank you for pointing me in the right direction).
The bad news: as you mentioned about the risk, LMS crashed and I was not
able to recover, so I had to go back to version 8.0.

So, of course, my next question is: has anyone been successful in
running Dynamic Playlist/Dynamic Mix in version 8.2?

I am using LMS version 8.0.1

There is a link at the bottom of plug-in page (not a checkbox) that
brings you to the very outdated LMS Repositories list. The xml for
Ehrland's repositories is no longer valid. :-(

I finally got it working! Not sure what actually fixed it, but I did the
following:

1. Had to manually enter my Spotify login and password in the Spotty
setup since it looked like it didn't connect automatically using the
Spotify app on my phone
2. On the Spotty Spotify under Advanced settings I manually selected
the Spotty Helper Application dropdown list using 0.35.0 choice.

Thanks to Michael and everyone else that tried helping. Really
appreciate it...what a great forum!!

Yes, I've done all of the above. I can play Pandora if I do it directly
on the Touch. In fact, when I play Pandora on the Touch and I open
Material on my Android phone, I see the track that is currently playing.
I just don't have any control of Pandora on Material.

I just added Pandora as an app. I added it on my Touch (as well as the

also appears on the Web UI of LMS. However, when I launch Material Skin
on my Android or even on my Windows 10 browser (Chrome), I don't see
Pandora under "Apps" (there is no "My Apps"). Is there something else I
need to do so I can see it on Material Skin?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Spicefly Sugarcube on Raspberry Pi using Dynamic Path Conversion

2020-05-21 Thread dbinder101

I recently installed LMS 7.9.2 on a new Raspberry Pi 4. I wanted to
still be able to use MusicIP and discovered that you can have MusicIP
running on a different server from LMS by using spicefly sugarcube and
the DPC option. So I have a Windows 10 PC running MusicIP and setup
spicefly to send the request to the MusicIP PC for the next track .
Unfortunately, I get an error that says "MusicIP Failed" and so spicefly
just adds a random track.

Here is what I have and have done:

On the Raspberry Pi, I have an external USB drive that contains the LMS
library. The folder containing the tracks is sharable using Samba and
MusicIP on the PC is pointing to this folder. As a test, I created a
MusicIP mix on the PC successfully. On the Pi, I setup DPC as shown
below. I have also attached the server log file that shows the activity
as well as the error message.

Any would be appreciated.

I finally figured it out (with your help!). When you had said that LMS
is reporting a clean install with no players, I started poking around
and saw in the server "Player" tab that it also showed no players. Then
I realized that, because I have 2 LMS servers that I go back and forth
to (I know it sounds weird but I have my reasons), my players (Touch and
Radio) were both connecting to the other non-LMS-lite server. Once I
told both the players to connect to the LMS-lite server and issued the
Discover command, BOOM! The players were discovered. YAY!

The skill works like a charm, I issued several commands and all worked
flawlessly, thank you so much for these 2 great skills.

No, when I issued the command to Alexa, she did not say that there was a
connectivity problem, she just said she didn't find any new devices.
Yes, I am using ngrok which looks like it is running successfully. I

Tried all the suggestions you made:

- Logged out and back in from account on app
- uninstalled and reinstalled app
- From within browser, did not appear and also pressed "Discover
  devices"
- Just for fun, gave the command "Alexa, discover devices" on my
  echo

Unfortunately, it is still a no-go. I have a Squeezebox Radio and a
Touch. Not sure what to do next.

I was able to get MediaServer to work a few weeks ago, but when I linked
LMS-lite successfully and then told Alexa to discover devices, it said
it didn't find any new devices. So I then disabled MediaServer and
LMS-lite, thinking maybe there is some sort of conflict. I then
re-enabled LMS-lite, linked the account successfully, but when I say
Discover devices it still says no new devices. I confirm this on the
alexa app...I don't see my Touch nor my Radio. Any advice?

I was having the same problem. I needed to re-install SB and downloaded
version 7.7 from logitech's site and then immediately upgraded to 7.9
When I tried install any of erlands plug-ins it would not install
(similar response as other people have described). Installing other
plug-ins worked fine. Then I decided to start from scratch (again) but
this time download and install 7.7 only and then try installing erland's
plug-ins. No problem! So, it looks to me that this issue popped up when
trying to install his plug-ins with the latest 7.9 version. Anyone else
get a different scenario?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Success: MusicIP and Spicefly Sugarcube running on Raspberry Pi

2017-10-09 Thread dbinder101

I know this is a bit off-topic in this thread, but I wasn't sure where
to post this question.
I've been using spicefly for a few weeks and have specific rules on what
songs to play based on MusicIp filter. However, it seems to just pick
random songs. When I look at the SugarCube Live View, it shows an empty
MusicIp Track Recommendations:

23830

So, based on this, it looks like MusicIP isn't making any
recommendations, which verifies that spicefly is just picking songs
randomly. Any help/advise would really be appreciated. Thanks!

[SlimDevices: Plugins] running MusicIP on MacOS

2017-08-28 Thread dbinder101

I've just received a MacBook and was curious about running Squeezebox
and specifically MusicIP under MacOS (after running these on Windows 7
and Windows 10 without any problems). I was able to get SB going fairly
quickly on the MacBook but I am having a very difficult time with
MusicIP. I have the service running fine and added songs to the library.
However, I cannot get MIP to analyze any of the tracks. It keeps saying
it cannot connect to the server. I know that a few years ago the servers
were shutdown, but I am still able to get the analysis working either
thru the GUI or the Web option. On the Mac, I keep getting the error on
the GUI. I even tried using the GenPUID program, but still got bad
connection error.
Has anyone been able to get this going on their MacOS environment? Any
help is greatly appreciated.

2017-07-30 Thread dbinder101

Hi-
Now that you've made your plug-ins available for free (thank you!) I've
started to use the Trackstat and Custom Scan plugins in order to import
the MusicIP playcounts into the SB database. It seems to run fine when I
run the MusicIP Statistics Import Scan in the Custom Scan window.
However, the only way I can check if the scan ran successfully, is when
I run the Trackstat statistics in the web control window and request the
Show Most Played listing. Unfortunately, when I compare this list to the
MusicIP listing of the most playcount, they don't match. Is there
something that I'm doing or looking at wrong? Is there a way to see play
counts of individual tracks within SB?

Thanks for your help on this.

I upgraded to version 1.1 (that's the most current, right?), goes thru
the same screens and process, telling me that it's copying the files.
but, unfortunately, I still don't see the files nor the playlist on my
phone.

I've used the file manager on the phone and all looks normal. I did the
copy 2 times: once to copy 20 songs...it took a very long time to
finish, and once to copy 3 songs so that it wouldn't take so long.
Again, it did NOT skip thru quickly, it still took a while.

I have the Samsung Galaxy S6 so it doesn't have an SD card. When I look
at the /Music folder, it says it's empty.

So I finally was able to connect...it turns out that I my firewall was
blocking it. It shows that it's copying the files and then says "Music
copied and playlist created". I tap on the Finish button. However, for
the life of me, I cannot find the files that it said it just copied. I
tried it a few times, I do a search on the phone, but nothing comes up.
Is it copying the songs to a hidden folder that I can't see? I feel like
I'm making progress, but still not completely there yet.

I thought I did turn on debugging. Anyhow, I went back and made sure
it's on, and then re-ran scan. Unfortunately the file is too big to

Yes, it did work before. Other recipes work fine.

I validated the recipe. When I select Smooth using blender, it displays
a list of tracks. If I click "Play this mix" it starts playing on my
Touch/Radio. But if I select Smooth on the device itself it comes back
with the "Couldn't find" message.

I have a few hundred tracks that echonest is not recognizing. I know
some have crappy tags associated with them, but quite a few are tracks
from CDs that I've ripped via dbPowerAmp so I know their tags should be
correct. And, no, these are npt compilations or Best Of that might
throw it off, they're pretty simple one-artist or group types of tracks.
Is there an easy way to cross-check the unrecognized tracks with what
echonest is expecting them to be so I can make the appropriate changes
for echonest to recognize them?

Do you have any plans on adding a setting to check for the number of
tracks before repeating an artist? I have just started to use
DynamicMix as a replacement to SugarCube and so far it's been working
really well, I really like the mixes that it picks, but I find that
 it
repeats the same Artist too often.

I have noticed this occasionally too. Sometimes I find it will switch
alternate tracks between two artist's albums.

It's really down to the mix settings and MusicIP. Try tweaking the
settings, eg. increase the Variety to make selection a bit more random,
or try using one of the MusicIP Recipes.

Thanks for the quick response. Do you have any information on using
recipes? I have tried searching through the forums and wiki but can't
find any good information about how to create and use them. I do see
the drop down of pre-defined recipes but have no idea what they do or
how to modify them. Thanks.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Possible MusicIP replacement in time?

2012-02-10 Thread dbinder101

I emailed Moodagent to see what the status is on developing a SB
plug-in, here is their reply (very disappointing):

We've had numerous requests for a Squeezebox-plugin, but we haven't
found the resources for developing such a thing yet. It's definitely an
idea to open the API for external developers, but the Moodagent API is
unfortunately not publicly available. We hope to find the resources to
fit this into our schedule, but for the time being it's not in the
pipeline.
Sorry about that.

Boo!

[SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIP Archive Analaysis stopped working

2012-01-13 Thread dbinder101

I've been using MIP for quite a while and I have always run the Archive
Analysis tool within the GUI with no problem. However, I just tried
doing it with some new tracks that I ripped and it doesn't seem to be
writing anything out to the PUID. I don't get an errors but it doesn't
show the PUID. Any ideas?

And since it is the Headless system that communicates with Squeezebox,
changes in the MiP database made with the GUI can't be scanned into
Squeezebox until the Headless database is refreshed.

Is this really true? I always thought that the Headless database is
just a convenient way of having the MIP service always running rather
than having the MIP GUI open all the time?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIP - re-analyze?

2011-06-13 Thread dbinder101

I'm having some problems with my compilation tracks. It seems that
almost every time I ask for a mix using a compilation track as the
seed, the bulk of the mix contains tracks from that compilation series
or album (no, I do not restrict the mix to genre). In looking at the
tracks, all of them say that they are analyzed, but some of them don't
have a PUID associated with the track. So I thought I'd try to run the
analysis again through all the tracks, but I can't find any way in the
GUI to do a re-analysis. Is this possible?

and tried running the analysis on them, but it isn't analyzing any of
the tracks. HELP!

[SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIP mixes with TimeLife tracks

2011-01-24 Thread dbinder101

I've been using MIP with my Touch for a few months and all is working
very well. However, something peculiar keeps happening for certain
seeded tracks.

I have roughly 700 tracks from the Time Life series, for every year,
from 1960 - 1990. They are all tagged with the Genre Rock. I also
have over 6000 other tracks spanning many genres.

Whenever I select a track from any of the Time Life series albums to
create a MIP mix it selects mostly tracks tracks from that year,
whether the seed track is mellow or hard rock. Is there a setting in
MIP that is causing this behavior?

Thanks.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIP filter creation

2011-01-09 Thread dbinder101

I am running Ubuntu 10.2 and SB server 7.5.1 with MusicIP turned on. All
is working just fine. However, I want to be able to create a filter when
creating a MIP play list. As far as I can tell, the only way to do this
is thru MIP's GUI. When I open up the GUI, I can see my library
(although it opens very slow). But when I try to create a filter and
save it, the entire system hangs and I have to force a restart on my
PC. Is there any other way to create a filter for MIP besides the GUI?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Playlist display format

2010-10-26 Thread dbinder101

Is there a plug-in or a setting within SB (I am using a Touch) that when
I want to display a playlist, will enable me to see it grouped by Album

I have a rather long playlist it would be easier sometimes to choose
what I want to hear by album or artist.

Thanks.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Custom Scan export to MusicIP in ubuntu

2010-07-28 Thread dbinder101

Thank you for your assistance. I've solved the problem which is...it was
working fine the entire time! The reason I thought playcounts were not
being exported was because I was checking the playcounts with the MIP
GUI and sorting the Playcount and Last Played field to quickly see
which tracks were updated and nothing was showing up. After reading the
contents of the log files, it looked to me that it was actually being
updated so I decided to create a filter within the GUI to show a list
of all tracks that had a playcount 0 and, lo and behold, the proper
tracks appeared within the filtered list. Very strange that it doesn't
appear correctly within the sorted columns of the entire library.
Again, I want to thank you for your quick suggestions, it actually did
help me in getting to the bottom of the mystery.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Custom Scan export to MusicIP in ubuntu

2010-07-26 Thread dbinder101

I've succesfully exported playcounts from SB to MusicIP on my Windows 7
PC. However, after creating an ubuntu environment (10.04), I can't seem
to be able to do the same thing. I don't see any errors in the scan log
file. I did notice that the MIP's default.m3lib file has permissioning
of rw--- for my user id and group id. Could this be a permissioning
problem that doesn't allow Custom Scan to write the changes to the m3lib
file?

Thanks.

(1787) Calling:
Plugins::TrackStat::Plugin-musicmagicexport::exitScanTrack

Hope this helps in the mystery!

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Multi Library - separate iTunes from MusicIP?

2010-07-01 Thread dbinder101

I am scanning my iTunes library (on C: drive)as well as my MusicIP

figure out how I can use Multi Library with Custom Browse so that when

listen to my iTunes songs or whether I want to listen to my MusicIp
songs. Is this possible? I've played around quite a bit with both
plug-ins (ML and CB) but cannot get it set up the way I described. Any
help?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIP confusion

2010-06-02 Thread dbinder101

I've been playing around with SBS and the MusicIP plug-in for my Touch
for a few weeks and I thought everything was scanning properly, but
then I noticed the following:

My MIP library contains 2519 mixable tracks
When I scan the library via the SBS using the setting Import all song
data from MusicIP (slower) it completes successfully with the
statistics matching the number of tracks, 2519.
When I scan via the SBS using the setting Only read mixable status
from MusicIP (faster) it completes successfully but says there are
only 2249 tracks.

Although the second method is much faster, why is it not picking up all
the tracks from my MIP library?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spicefly SugarCube 2.5 - Taking MusicIP up a notch

2010-05-24 Thread dbinder101

After using SugarCube for a few days I have the following observations:

1) The mixes seems to be more random than using the MIP plug-in. I've
been using MusicIP for a number of years and I am constantly amazed on
the smooth flow of the songs it chooses. However, when I use SugarCube
it seems to choose songs in a much more random fashion. I have the same
settings for SC and MIP as far as Mix style and Mix variety. Could it be
that I'm not setting some of the other variables properly?

2) After playing more than 6 tracks, the title of the screen that
displays the track number of the playlist (Track XX of YY) remains at
6 of 7.

3) When choosing a track to start off SugarCube, I have to specifically
says Play at End. Otherwise, it will start with the track I chose and
play all the rest of the tracks from the album that the track is from.
As a result, SugarCube will use the last track of the album as the seed
rather than the song I chose.

So, at this time, I am using the MIP plug-in because I feel it creates
better mixes. However, I would love to be able to use SugarCube because
I love the idea of just choosing 1 track and for it to create mixes
forever without any intervention.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIP settings

2010-04-30 Thread dbinder101

I got my Touch a few weeks ago and have been enjoying it to no end.
Since I am pretty familiar with MusicIP (been using for the past few
years), I was grateful that there is a plug-in for SBS and it's been
working well. However, there are a few settings in the GUI MIP that I
don't see either within the plug-in or maybe it belongs in the mmm.ini
file (I'm using the headless MIP). I hope someone can let me know if
the following are possible within SBS:

1) Restrict duplicate artists in mix - I was able to specify a number
i.e. No duplicates within XX tracks/minutes/megabytes
2) Shuffle - in the GUI you have a choice of how you wish the mix to be
created when hitting the Shuffle button: Smooth Shuffle, Random Shuffle,
Sawtooth Shuffle, Scan Shuffle, Jagged Shuffle
3) Exclusions - I know you can specify Filters but I was wondering if
you can also use the Exclusions options (Don't include songs like this
in the mix)

Thanks in advance.
