Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: PlayDASH Plugin

2017-10-10 Thread odw199

Hi Berns,

I created this plug in a good few years ago as more of a proof of
concept and to see if it could be done - it hasn't been touched in a
long time and I'm not sure if it still works TBH.

If VLC can play the stream on your system then it should be possible to
update the plugin to work for you, but I'm somewhat time limited at the
moment so not sure if or when I'd be able to update it.

Sorry I can't be much more help at the moment.

Thats the same as I got, had to enable extra logging for plugins to see
anything in the log. I'm sure the repo will get fixed soon

To answer my own post, yes, the digest is for 0.6.2 but the xml is
pointing to the 0.6.1 version.

Manually downloading the 0.6.2 version and running shasum against it
gives the digest in the xml.

2017-06-11 Thread odw199

Hi,

I think there might be an issue with the repo.

I'm using LMS 7.9.1 running on MacOs Sierra. When I try and install the
latest version of the plugin from he test repo, I get an error in debug
plugin logging:

Code:

[17-06-11 09:37:49.9876] Slim::Utils::PluginDownloader::install (159)

digest does not match

Looking at the xml it gives the sha1 as:

Code:

  The potential next generation Spotify protocol handler. v0.5.0 - add full
content browsing menus (to be enabled in the settings). v0.6.0 - add support

  s...@herger.net
  775f2f2e53eb1668b26b8a3e9fdf87bd544fdea3

If I calculate the sha 1 of the zip I get something different:

Code:

$ shasum -a 1 Spotty-0.6.1.zip
  ac1ecc83e4d6663138228a0fa980ab9cd910ff15  Spotty-0.6.1.zip

Is the problem simply that the digest has been updated with the value
for version 0.6.2 but the zip linked in the xml is still version 0.6.1?

The ntp requirement came from one instance when my pi booted up with the
date set to 1st Jan (presumably 1972 - I didn't check). It had been
unpowered for a while so sensible to assume the clock had reset. This
prevented openvpn from connecting as it saw the certificates as not yet

That's it, when your picoreplayre reboots it will set the date and time

your local home network and connect to your LMS.

The only additional step you might need (depending on if your vpn will
allow the discovery service used by LMS) is to manually set the IP
address of LMS in the picoreplayer web interface. This can be done on
the Squeezelite Settings page in the LMS IP field.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Radio X Listen again - possible to modify BBC iPlayer plugin?

Hi,

Radio X offer a listen again service. I understand the individual listen
again URLs work in Squeezebox, but I wondered if the BBC iPlayer plugin
could be used as a base for implementing a Radio X plugin that offered
similar functionality?

How "BBC Specific" is the BBC iPlayer plugin and is this possible? I'll
try and look at the Radio X site implementation/structure/protocols over
the coming week to see how feasible this is but wondered if anyone had
tried anything similar?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: PlayDASH Plugin

2015-02-22 Thread odw199

Hi Everyone,

Following on from bpa's PlayHLS plugin, I've created a copy with a few
tweaks that allow MPEG-DASH streams to be played through a squeezebox.
I'm afraid the plugin in it's current form will only work on a Mac and
VLC version 3 (from nightly build) must be installed in the Mac's
Applications folder.

When installed correctly, you should see a new file type available under
Advanced - File Types:

MPEG-DASH DASH mpd

This uses playdash.sh to convert to FLAC (playdash.sh is included in the
plugin and is just a wrapper to call VLC).

I've tested this against an mpd file stored locally on a web server that
was generated from an AAC file using MP4Box and it works without issue.
VLS is started and stopped as the stream is started and stopped.

I haven't yet been able to test it with a live internet feed so feel
free to give it a go and report back any issues.

I'd like to thank bpa for his PlayHLS plugin as this is basically a
customisation of that with some bits of the Xplay plugin thrown in;
without bpa's plugins as a base I could't have created this.

Finally, this is more of a proof of concept plugin I decided to create
for a number of reasons:

1. The BBC has said it will eventually move to MPEG-DASH format so this
is to try and help avoid everyone getting caught out as we all did when
they switched to HLS.
2. To prove to myself that sticking with squeezebox and not selling up
and buying a Sonos system was the right thing to do. While they still
await HLS support, we now have both HLS and MPEG-DASH support.

To install the plugin, use the repo here:

http://raw.github.com/Mac0z/playDASH/master/public.xml

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: ShairTunes Plugin

2015-02-22 Thread odw199

Hi,

It does indeed look like you have 2 versions of perl installed.

The which perl command you ran from a terminal shows an install in
/Users/kim/perl5/perlbrew/perls/perl-5.16.0/

Yet the slim server.pl application uses perl in /usr/bin:

Code:

$ head slimserver.pl
  #!/usr/bin/perl

  # Logitech Media Server Copyright 2001-2009 Logitech.
  # This program is free software; you can redistribute it and/or
  # modify it under the terms of the GNU General Public License,
  # version 2.

So when you manually installed the additional modules through CPAN, it
would have added them to the perl install in
/Users/kim/perl5/perlbrew/perls/perl-5.16.0/, but this isn;t used by
squeezebox, it uses the install that comes shipped with Mac OS.

You need to add the additional modules to the default perl installation.
And to do that you need run CPAN from the default installation, not the
alternate installation under
/Users/kim/perl5/perlbrew/perls/perl-5.16.0/. The easiest way to do this
is to take /Users/kim/perl5/perlbrew/perls/perl-5.16.0/bin off the PATH
environment variable. So if you run:

Code:

export PATH=/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin

This sets the PATH to just be the default areas, which means when you
run which perl again it should point /usr/bin/perl, then install the
CPAN modules again and they will be installed to the installation of
perl that squeezebox is using.

The short version of all this is:

Code:

$ export PATH=/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin
  $ sudo perl -MCPAN -e ‘install Crypt::OpenSSL::RSA’
  $ sudo perl -MCPAN -e ‘install IO::Socket::INET6’
  $ sudo perl -MCPAN -e ‘install Net::SDP’
  $ /Library/PreferencePanes/Squeezebox.prefPane/Contents/server/slimserver.pl

When ever you log back in to a terminal it will put your PATH back to
what it was, which is fine, the export is only temporary so you can
install the CPAN modules to the right perl installation.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: ShairTunes Plugin

2015-02-22 Thread odw199

Hi Kim.T

That is how I've been running it and it works for me (which I realise
doesn't help much).

The only things I can think of are:
1. Are you adding any arguments or commands after the slimserver.pl to
either daemonize it or but it into the back ground? For example:

Code:

./slimserver.pl --daemon
  ./slimserver.pl

I am just changing to the right directory, and then running the command
from there:

Code:

cd /Library/PreferencePanes/Squeezebox.prefPane/Contents/server/
  ./slimserver.pl

2. Are you on the latest version of LMS? Your log indicates it is 7.7.5
from 26 November, looking at the LMS download area there is a version
released on 27 November (but this might be the same one and it's a
timezone crossover thing):

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] VLC as a transcoder

2015-02-21 Thread odw199

1. Yes as dst was - i took it to mean stdout
2. It's an internal URL to my home network. I transcoded a flac file to
an AAC DASH format (multiple files all served by an apache web server,
generated the .mpd file). This was all done using the gpac tools, MP4Box
to create the DASH files. I've tested playback from the URL with
MP4Client and it works flawlessly, it's just MP4Client outputs direct to
speakers so (as far as I know)you can't chain it into squeezebox without
doing some sound flower type munging (which won't work as the mac I'm
using plays other media content locally through the sound output
devices).
3. On a mac you just get the VLC.app as the mac application. A mac
application is actually a folder containing all the bits needed
(resources, data etc). This includes the actual executable binary, of
which there sonly VLC, hence my command line. I read that cvlc was a
wrapper to VLC -I rc and as I'm using the dummy interface, (-I dummy) i
thought this should work. Running it with -I dummy does not launch a GUI
so I think this part is OK.
4. I didn't know about xplay, I'll check it out, thanks.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] VLC as a transcoder

2015-02-21 Thread odw199

Hi,

Has anyone been able to use vlc as a transcoder for a plugin?

I've been trying to use it to support MPEG-DASH in a proof of concept
plugin (trying to get ahead of the Beeb) but I can't get it to work.

First of all, I think VLC 3 is required, which I have installed on my
Mac (this makes it a bit more difficult as there isn't a simple vlc
binary in /usr/bin etc)

What I have a is a simple script in my plugin/Bin directory:

Code:

#!/bin/sh
  /Applications/VLC.app/Contents/MacOS/VLC

which is executable, then in my custom-convert.conf I have:

Code:

dash flc * *
# RB:{BITRATE=-B %B}T:{START=-ss %s}
[playdash.sh] $FILE$ -I dummy -q --no-sout-video --sout
'#transcode{acodec=flac,channels=2,ab=128,samplerate=44100}:standard{access=file,mux=dummy,dst=-}'
 vlc://quit -

(Which I'm sure bpa will realise has been based heavily/copied from the
excellent playHLS plugin - i tried the playhls.sh but that didn't work
either when changing the app path so I've tried to simplify it a lot)

I have the transcoding option enabled under file types so that's all
good, but nothing happens when I try and play a DASH stream. I have
validated the DASH stream works with the command line:

Code:

/Applications/VLC.app/Contents/MacOS/VLC stream -I dummy -q
--no-sout-video --sout
'#transcode{acodec=flac,channels=2,ab=128,samplerate=44100}:standard{access=file,mux=dummy,dst=-}'
 vlc://quit -

In that it dumps a lot of binary output to the console so I think it's
more my plugin set up that isn't working.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: ShairTunes Plugin

2015-02-20 Thread odw199

I have this working on a mac mini running yosemite, but only if I run
slimserver.pl directly from the command line, not when using the start
button in the Preference Pane (Pain?)

When running from the pref pain I get the infamous:

Code:

[15-02-20 17:51:03.5684] Slim::Networking::IO::Select::__ANON__ (147)
Error: Select task failed calling
Plugins::ShairTunes::Plugin::handleSocketRead: Expected port number from

/Users/tv/Library/Caches/Squeezebox/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/ShairTunes/Plugin.pm
 line 344.
  ; fh=IO::Socket::INET6=GLOB(0x7f971a0c8d48)

Does anyone know what differences there are in how LMS starts between
the command line and Pref Pane? I've checked they both use the same
version of perl so presumably there is a difference in library used
based on path ordering or some such but I haven't yet been able to
figure it out.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: ShairTunes Plugin

2015-02-20 Thread odw199

If you type

Code:

which perl

at the command line what do you get?

After installing MacPorts I found I had two versions, one in /opt and
one in /usr/bin

My command prompt had /opt earlier in the path than /usr/bin so when I
manually added the required dependancies with cpan, they were added to
the /opt version. But slimserver.pl specifies the path to perl as
/usr/bin/perl, therefore the installed cpan modules were not being
used.

To fix this I temporarily removed /opt from my path:

export PATH=/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin

Then re-ran the cpan installs which added them to the /usr/bin version.
Starting slimserver.pl then worked with the shairport plugin

I took a look at gpac...

The player is mp4client but while it can happily play an HLS stream, I
couldn't find a way to send the output to stdout (or anywhere other than
the speakers) so I doubt this is of any use.

mp4box is able to manipulate containers which might allow the encoding
of an HLS stream, but I couldn't find a way to do it.

My advice, ignore gpac and stick with ffmpeg for now.

I haven't been able to try anything yet (will take a look when I get

I'll see if I can get it running this evening and feed back, you never
know, transcoding load might also be less than ffmpeg (you never know).

Using curl to see the results of the http requests I get:

curl
http://a.files.bbci.co.uk/media/live/manifesto/audio/simulcast/hls/uk/sbr_high/ak/bbc_6music.m3u8
#EXTM3U
#EXT-X-VERSION:2
#EXT-X-STREAM-INF:PROGRAM-ID=1,BANDWIDTH=339200,CODECS=mp4a.40.2
http://as-hls-uk-live.edgesuite.net/pool_6/live/bbc_6music/bbc_6music.isml/bbc_6music-audio%3d32.m3u8?dvr_window_length=24

So then pulling in the actual stream I get:

curl
http://as-hls-uk-live.edgesuite.net/pool_6/live/bbc_6music/bbc_6music.isml/bbc_6music-audio%3d32.m3u8?dvr_window_length=24

/HEADBODY
H1Access Denied/H1

You don't have permission to access
http://as-hls-uk-live.edgesuite.net/pool_6/live/bbc_6music/bbc_6music.isml/bbc_6music-audio%3d32.m3u8?;

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: BBCiPlayer Plugin (UK only)

2015-02-14 Thread odw199

Thans for the noun URLs, this is now working on LMS on MacOs Yosemite.

I'm using bpa's plugin and ffmpeg downloaded using MacPorts.

The Radio 1 live URL I have working is:

http://a.files.bbci.co.uk/media/live/manifesto/audio/simulcast/hls/nonuk/sbr_low/ak/bbc_radio_one.m3u8

Great work everyone, thanks!
