you be willing to pay for a Grooveshark Anywhere account ? ($9/month I

Good for me; the same as Spotify needing premium accounts to work.

Would be great :)

Just for information to anyone interested in this, looks like
Grooveshark now has released an official API which also allows
streaming as I understand it:

So if any third party wants to do something, it looks like it's now
possible.

Don't they check for this? I know that SoundCloud (who have a similar

I suspect the issue is that:
- Logitech doesn't want to do it because they don't want to end up in
legal battle with the record companies.
- Grooveshark only wants to do it through an official agreement with
Logitech. I've tried, several times, to offer to help them do it
through a third party plugin, but my impression is that Grooveshark
isn't interested in doing it this way, they want an official plugin
through Logitech.

Of course, this is just suspicions, I have no actual facts.
But based on this I personally suspect this isn't going to happen.

Still no app?

Honestly - why does there even need to be? Why can't they just make it
simple and have a stream to tune to - just like other radio.

One more vote for a GrooveShark app.
I wonder if the foot-dragging may have more to do with the thinking
that Grooveshark may not last. they're not getting along with the
labels, and Apple has turned their back on them if the big boys
could destroy Napster, these guys won't be much of a challenge

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Grooveshark?

2010-09-22 Thread Muele

According to goal number three on the roadmap it is pretty high on the
agenda:
http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Software_Roadmap

But the roadmap seems to have been abandoned altogether. It hasn't been
updated for a year.

To be honest I think the ONLY hope of Grooveshark on the Squeezebox is
that a user makes it happen.

Logitech were contacted directly by a Groovehark developer who wanted
it to happen via bugzilla. They chose not even to answer him.

Logitech chooses not to put enough ressources in the product line to
get beyond line one of the roadmap: Stability and performance - No
crashers, quick startup, no skips, less memory usage.

But hey! It's an open arquitecture. One dedicated user with programming
skills can probably make it happen.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Grooveshark?

2010-04-28 Thread shftleft

Hello,

This is my first post in these forums, so forgive me if I couldn't find
a relevant thread on this topic.

Are there plans for a Grooveshark plugin? A quick google search
reveals demand for one, but no actual development.

I recently ditched Pandora for grooveshark, and would like to integrate
it with my 4 Slim devices (2 classic, 1 boom, 1 duet) for joyful
listening =P

/shft

Please vote for it, then there is a bigger chance it will happen.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Grooveshark?

2010-04-28 Thread RichardDavies

Several support requests have been submitted to Grooveshark regarding
Squeezebox support:

http://getsatisfaction.com/grooveshark/topics/grooveshark_on_squeezebox
http://getsatisfaction.com/grooveshark/topics/grooveshark_on_squeezebox-10p1m

Unfortunately, Grooveshark doesn't appear to be very motivated to
provide an
API or expand their service to other devices. But if you're interested
in this,
I encourage you to visit those requests above and click the 'I have
this
idea/question too' button and leave a comment to indicate your
interest. If
enough people do this then maybe they might change their
mind/priorities.
