Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Public Radio Fan

2016-08-28 Thread ChrisNY

I thought I'd add an update to this thread to help others keep using
this plugin with the latest 7.9 version of the server. The current
plugin - found at http://www.malsbury.net/~slim/ - is still working with
7.9 (amazingly!). The only change required to continue to use the
plugin is to change the following line in the install.xml file from:
7.5+
to
7.9+

I've been able to use the plugin successfully with this change. Note
that this only works on the older Squeezebox versions (SB1-3, Boom,
Transporter).

Great plugin which provides easy access to currently playing NPR
programs (Music and Non-Music) as opposed to podcasts.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Public Radio Fan

2011-02-22 Thread ChrisNY

Thanks for the replies. As I started to think about it more I realized
the solutions you've presented are excellent alternatives. I also
realize I haven't used the Mediafly app nearly as much as I should. I
tend to use it/maintain it for a while and then it goes off of my
radar.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Public Radio Fan

2011-02-21 Thread Mark Miksis

I don't think the Public Radio Fan plugin has been maintained for a few
years. Some options to consider, although they don't quite offer
publicradiofan style browsing are:

- The built-in Radiotime support has quite good NPR listings. In fact,
a year or 2 ago, the guy who owns publicradiofan.com was on the
Radiotime Board of Advisors and Radiotime was receiving NPR program
data from him. I'm not sure if either of those are still the case, but
you can certainly use the Radiotime plugin for NPR.
- Try the NPR Radio plugin by bpa which is mostly an NPR podcast
directory and is actively maintained.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Public Radio Fan

2011-02-21 Thread Bassman

I use the podcast link, so I don't ever have to hunt for it.

I use MySQ.com. You install the Pod Player from the Squeezebox web
controls My Apps. Once it is in your account, all the players access
it. Just like the Favorites, it is shared. I have a Boom, a Radio and
the Duet.

Go to this site:
http://www.npr.org/rss/podcast/podcast_detail.php?siteId=5183214

That shows the podcast is: http://www.npr.org/rss/podcast.php?id=35

Then, add this as a Podcast.

The great thing about this method is, if that pod address has a list of
pods, you can select which date to listen to. I timeshift a lot of
stuff.

For example, this always has a list:
http://www.cbc.ca/podcasting/includes/dnto.xml

"Definitely NOT the Opera" from CBC. It's the forefather of This
American Life. I used to listen by hunting down the radio stream, but
the podcast list is better. No time constraints, especially that
half-hour shift in Newfoundland or where ever that was I used to chase
down.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Public Radio Fan

2011-02-20 Thread ChrisNY

I was using the Public Radio Fan plug-in this morning to find Wait Wait
Don't Tell me as I do most weekends. I realized that since I don't
believe this is in the Plug-In repositories many people may not be
aware of it. Here'e the link to the plug-in site:
http://www.malsbury.net/~slim/

Great plug-in. Two questions on a related note:
1. Is there a way to get this into the repositories?
2. It only works with the older Squeezeboxes (Boom, SB1-3). Is there
a way to access this on the Touch, Controller, etc?
