Sure, that would work. I didn't mean to suggest where and how the functionality should be implemented. The reason I associated it with random playlist (instead of SQLPlaylist) was because it seemed more intuitive for this functioanlity to be accessible from there from a usability perspective. In the Fishbone web UI (and possibly others), selecting Random Playlist from the main menu brings up the "Genres to include /exclude in the playlist:" page. However, any genre with special charcters (e.g. Samba-Canção, Scène Française) are deselected by default in both include/exclude checkbox fields and cannot be selected. Also, I know I've asked for this before... but would it be possible to include something like "Only play tracks rated or above" to the random playlist page? After using the SB remote to browse for a DynamicPlaylist, it would be good if, like some other menus, next time you browsed you were returned to the same position. At the moment, entering DynamicPlaylists seems to always start at the first static playlist. I've been enjoying my DynamicPlaylists so much, it's been a while since I've used my plain old static playlists, but I have noticed that they appear under DynamicPlaylists and so I was about to delete the Playlist menu entry entirely, but I noticed that if I browse to my static playlists on the SB via the DynamicPlaylists menu, "FAILED" appears on the SB and nothing else happens. I don't get any errors logged (I tried d_plugins and the TrackStat logging, just in case). If I browse via the Playlists menu on the SB, everthing is fine. Using the WebUI via DynamicPlaylists doesn't work either, play/add just return me to the DynamicPlaylists page (although clicking the link itself correctly goes to the playlist edit page). Just upgraded after falling a couple of versions behind. I like the new layout, but I've found that some playlists fail. For example, if I try to play (or add) "Songs > Not Rated > Not rated songs not recently played" a message appears on the SB saying "Failed: Not rated songs not recently...". Also, the webUI jumps back to the main DynamicPlaylist page. However, if I just click on the "Not rated songs not recently played", it takes me to the TrackStat page and from there I can play or add with no problem. I have not as yet identified a pattern as to which dynamic playlists lead to this problem and which do not. I've noticed, though that the track count keeps increasing...faster
than I can buy CD's, too!
I'm not sure if this is a bug in Trackstat or a bug in the 6.5 though
(I am leaning to the latter). What I see with mysql logging turned on
(I was looking for some other odd behavior so made mysql spammy and
slow):
