You should try these instructions from the wiki. If they don't work for you, then we could try to troubleshoot. http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.cgi?LAMEForTranscoding http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.cgi?RemoteStreaming -- Nikhil Nikhil's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=993 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=40661 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Sirius and FLAC audio over SSH... STUTTERING AUDIO!!
okay, I copied the lame dll file in the bin subdirectory. Now what? 1) Do I need to register it as a directshow filter? 2) Do I need to configure slimserver to accept this encoder or choose this encoder instead of what it's doing? 3) Where do I specify the bit rate limit exactly? 4) At what point can I go to my softsqueeze player and play flac/sirius radio at a prespecified bit rate? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Sirius and FLAC audio over SSH... STUTTERING AUDIO!!
These are perfect instructions! Thanks! I wont be able to test this until Im on the other end of my ssh tunnel :) Thanks, Michael Nikhil;246508 Wrote: The way I have it on windows is that there is a folder called MSWin32-x86-multi-thread within the Bin subdirectory. This should contain a number of windows executables including flac.exe. To this I added the lame binary - lame.exe . There was no need to register it as a directshow filter. In the slimserver web interface, go to server settings. Select 'File types' and under FILE FORMAT CONVERSION SETUP make sure the line which says File Format - Flac and Stream Format - mp3 is selected. Save this. Connect to SlimServer with Softsqueeze. Then go back to the web interface. Under Settings, click on player settings for your SoftSqueeze player (it might be listed by MAC or IP addresses). In the pulldown menu, select the Audio option. After that you should see LAME Quality Level, and Bitrate Limiting. Set those to what suits your requirements. Hit save, and you should be good to go. -- mkanet mkanet's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7965 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=40661 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Sirius and FLAC audio over SSH... STUTTERING AUDIO!!
You can't have the transcoding bitrate altering in real time according to the available bandwidth - ala the SlingBox if that's what you are after. What you can do, however, is have a maximal bitrate set e.g. if you have a DSL uplink speed of 350kbps, I would set it to 192 kbps. This would provide enough overhead for the SSH tunnel as well. What you need to do to achieve this, is make sure that you have the LAME mp3 codec installed correctly in SlimServer. Then go to the player settings page, select the Audio tab, and then under bitrate settings, select the bitrate appropriate for your connection. I thought that ALL audio gets transcoded to the bandwidth the client is capable of!? If not, how do I get all audio to be automatically transcoded to available bandwidth? -- mkanet mkanet's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7965 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=40661 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
[SlimDevices: Plugins] Sirius and FLAC audio over SSH... STUTTERING AUDIO!!
Can someone please confirm that the Sirius Radio plugin at high quality and FLAC audio files will stutter over an SSH tunnel (DSL speed). Is there a way to fix this problem? -- mkanet mkanet's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7965 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=40661 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Sirius and FLAC audio over SSH... STUTTERING AUDIO!!
Don't know about Sirius, but FLAC over an SSH tunnel through a DSL connection is more than likely to stutter. In my experience 44.1 KHz / 16bit FLACs need around 1000 - 1200 kbps sustained to stream reliably (and I would double those numbers to be certain). You probably want SlimServer to dynamically transcode those FLACs to mp3s for remote streaming. -- Nikhil Nikhil's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=993 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=40661 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
