Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Best android Squeezebox control app?
I've recently added Orange Squeeze and Squeezeplayer to my Android devices and absolutely love the combination. Orange Squeeze is incredibly fast compared to navigating via a squeezebox and remote control or the LMS on my PC (which is connected directly to the QNAP TS-251 that LMS runs on!). Brilliant, highly recommended! cyprusgrump's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=14325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101633 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

A question about Squeeze Control: Does it support custom menus? I have Custom Browse installed in LMS, but I cannot find it in Squeeze Control. sciurius's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13819 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101633 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

sciurius wrote: A question about Squeeze Control: Does it support custom menus? I have Custom Browse installed in LMS, but I cannot find it in Squeeze Control. I haven't tried that plugin, but Squeeze Control pulls menus from the server in the exact same way as the Squeezebox Controller or Squeezebox Touch. So if the custom menus show up on any device that uses the SqueezePlay interface, it will show up in Squeeze Control. However, if the plugin only affects the browser or squeezeboxes with the older interface like the Boom or the SB3, then it wouldn't work with Squeeze Control. -- Squeezebox apps for webOS, Android and Windows Phone, http://www.angrygoatapps.com wt0's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=18760 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101633 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Maybe I should try it out after all, or perhaps get a play store gift card. I have Orange Squeeze and the official Logitech app. My advice? The Logitech interface is almost identical to the Duet Controller, so if you are used to that then you should try out the Logitech app first before forking out for Orange Squeeze. If you are more used to Android Apps generally you would probably prefer Orange Squeeze. On my phone (Samsung S3 mini) the official Logitech app is actually the fastest and more responsive of the two by some way. The more attractive interface is Orange Squeeze, and I like its integration with SqueezePlayer. It has a more flexible interface that is laid out much more like other Android apps. In practice I use the Logitech App when I need stuff quick and know where it is, but if listening via the phone's headphone socket or when browsing music in a more leisurely fashion I will use Orange Squeeze. I use the Controller more than both together as it is always standing next to the player and does not keep turning itself off to save battery. I've tried all the paid the controllers on Windows Phone and the best of the bunch (other than Squeeze Control on winphone, of course;) ) is probably Soundicity. It may have more features compared to the free apps on Android, but certainly not compared to Squeeze Control or any of the paid apps. Lyrics and bio is neat, but you can add a plugin to the server that will get the same info which you can then access through Squeeze Control. Compared to Squeeze Control it's missing a unified player manager, song downloading, per player customizable backgrounds, player server switching, auto server discovery (though that's a limitation of Windows Phone 7), music library list filtering, you can only access a song's full context menu in the music library section, the home menu customization has less available items and not reorderable, etc... -- Squeezebox apps for webOS, Android and Windows Phone, http://www.angrygoatapps.com wt0's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=18760 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101633 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Best android Squeezebox control app?
Orange Squeeze works well for me on both my Samsung Galaxy S3 phone and Nexus 7 tablet. Well worth the cost of the app. I also use Squeezeplayer on those devices to use them as players. The two apps work well together since Orange Squeeze has direct support for Squeezeplayer within the app. I haven't done a direct comparison with the Logitech provided app but performance has been good with almost immediate response displaying the list as it continues to load and cache entries in the background. And my library is considerably larger than yours although on much more powerful hardware.
