Just wanted to tell you that I was really frustrated not being able to
get XM on my Squeezebox radio and by lack of interest on XM's part.
Anyhow, I finally found this forum and Neil Potter's great work. I'll be
making a PayPal donation. Well worth it for domestic harmony since my
wife will be able to listen to her favorite stations she's used to from
her car radio.

Couple this with iPeng on her iPhone, I am temporarily a hero.

Can't understand why XM doesn't support this feature.

yes, easy to install, go to SbS web interface, select settings page, and
on plugin tab, enable show 3rd party plugins. Then find the xm radio
plugin, check the box next to it, hit apply and it will install. after
SbS restarts you'll need to add your login info in settings. But all
very easy!

Are you playing through a hardware player or software (like
SqueezePlay). When I play xm through a hardware player (SB3 or Boom,
etc.) then I get artist name and song name. When I play through
squeezeplay on my computer itself, I get the channel name, but NO
artist/track info. I think this is an issue with SqueezePlay, not with

Hi Northern Bob,

Some things to try/ questions:

1. Can you log in through the xmonline ui?

http://www.xmradio.com/player/home/xmhome.action

2. Is your account in the US?

3. Do you have the premium online account? If not, you will need to
select low bandwidth option in the xm plugin settings (where you have
entered your password).

Neil, a very big thanks for getting this up and running again.

Everything is working great for me, except that sync no longer works.
I suspect this is now a limitation from the xm changes, as opposed to
something simple not working in 3.5/7.4.x version? But I wanted to ask
to be sure.

Like Jeff, I'd not want to look a gift horse in the mouth, so I feel a
little silly bringing it up - I'd MUCH rather have xm on one box without
sync than none!

universal. I just added the plugin to another instance of SbS this
morning through the settings plugin update page. Hit restart, and
restarted and worked perfectly on my end.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] XM radio plugin with 7.4?

2009-12-02 Thread wharfrat

I've heard the following issues with 3.5 so far:

1. On Windows, can select stations and they appear to play but no sound
from the some of the logitech players (e.g., duet player) but sound from
others (e.g., duet controller).

2. Light web skin not working properly (I don't think it ever was)

Any other bugs I need to include in the update?

And I need to retrofit the new plugin back to SqueezeCenter 7.3.x

The installation from the extension downloader screen does work and
should be used going forward. Please delete any manual files including
the XMRadio folder, and if you had pasted the xml into the Additional
Repositories box at the foot of the plugins page, remove that too and
click apply. And then install XMRadioOnline from the Other 3rd Party
Plugins section.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] XM radio plugin with 7.4?

2009-12-01 Thread corbey

Thanks for the update, Neil!

However, the only way I could get it to install was by using the
old-fashioned way. I had go to your website to download version 3.5 and
then copy the new files to my plugins directory. I tried uninstalling
and reinstalling using the Plugins page, but I kept getting the old
version.

When I clicked on your link above, my browser just displayed the XML
file, but I didn't know how to run it in Windows Vista.

Thanks again.

My thoughts...
1. XM and Sirius are not fully merged yet. I am on the phone with XM
customer care right now (I have two cars with XM installed) and they
cannot assist with anything Sirius related.
2. Sirius online for existing Sirius subscribers is the same as XM,
2.99 a month... not sure what it is for internet only, or if they will
give the discounted rate to an XM subscriber.
3. As far as why Logitech supports Sirius and not XM... my best guess
is that since eventually XM will probably go away as a result of the
merger, they do not want to invest time and development resources in a
platform that has a limited shelf life. I am sure that we can argue that
this is a shortsighted view and forces longtime SB/XM users to either
live with less reliable plugins (no offense to the volunteers who do
this hard work on their own time and dime) or either go with Sirius or
look hard at what other options there are other than SB. Personally I
have cars with XM installed in stereo so it is harder for me to switch
to Sirius. If I had add-on equipment or portable players it would be
easier.

I doubt if XM will be going away anytime soon. There are still way too
many cars on the road that use it, with more being sold everyday,
including Honda.

Also, if you're not a Sirius subscriber, they charge $12.95/mo for

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] XM radio plugin with 7.4?

2009-11-20 Thread AbMagFab

Good, so not just me...

Now, anyone know how to debug this? I'm guessing either:

a) the host has changed, and for some reason all these tools use the
same host (except the website)

b) some part of the discovery protocal has changed

c) somehow they are blocking non-web streamers

If it's (a), we can work around that with a hosts file update. If it's
(b), we have to wait for updates to the tools (and unfortunately the
older tools like uXM will likely never work again). If it's (c), we're
screwed, and that sucks, and seems lame of SIRIXM.

*In any case, the symptom in all cases is that the authentication is
failing.*

But even when trying to login online, at this address:

I can login with my email and my password. But if I go from there to My

So, my guess is, the XM web site is in the process of changing their

can anyone else running XP (sp3) with SbS 7.4.2 confirm that they see

Okay, after running this for a few days:

- My SB Radios crashed when playing XM for hours (this never happened
using the uXM soluion)

- My SB Radios and Boom lost all Favorites that pointed to these, which
is odd

- I sometimes get a network error

Overall it works, but it seems to be causing stability issues in the
playback devices.

I couldn't get it to show up on a newly installed 7.4.1 either. But this

Please undo the manual install and then install from the

I've added this repository to the official list, so in the future XM

has checked the Show all 3rd party plugins option in the Plugins tab.
So starting now there is no reason to setup this repository manually in

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] XM radio plugin with 7.4?

2009-10-20 Thread cff

Sorry, I should've been more specific. I was referring to adding the
link to your favorites under Squeezecenter, not Squeezenetwork. I'm not
sure why your URL includes your public address instead of your LAN
address (192.168.x, 172.16.x, 10.x.something). Did you substitute that
yourself? Replace the name portion (the part between http:// and :9000)
with your internal IP address and add it to your local favorites and try
to play it that way (when connected to your local server). Otherwise, if
you do want to play it via Squeezenetwork, you *should* be able to do so
also, but if you haven't already, you'll need to setup your router to
forward port 9000 into the LAN IP (which needs to be static) of your
system that's running Squeezecenter. You might want to enable a
username/password for the server though unless you don't care about
others accessing your system via the Internet (especially considering
you have your public DNS name in your post).

Hope this helps.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] XM radio plugin with 7.4?

2009-10-12 Thread NJRonbo

Hello everyone!

After a year or two of putting my Squeezebox aside I decided
to hook it up again with the new software.

I am an XM radio subscriber paying for additional online streaming.

Was a bit disturbed to find the SIRIUS plug-in does not work if you
have an XM account. Thought they were SIRIUS/XM now.

Anyhow, thanks to a search, I found this thread. I look forward to
an XM plug-in being made available.

Question while I am here

Will Squeezebox work on its own to stream online content without
a computer?

For example, if I take my squeezebox to work and connect it to their
WiFi, can I still get XM RADIO (when available) without the need of a
computer to stream it?

Thanks in advance and I am subscribing to this thread in hopes of
a plug-in announcement.

NJ:

No, you need a server to use the XMRadio plugin.

For the time being, you'll need to install one of the previous versions
of squeezecenter, e.g., 7.3.3. There's a new feature in the 7.4
squeezeboxserver that refuses to perform background I/O during an idle,
so I'll have to prepare a new version.
