Following http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=538330,
Solar Designer did an audit of temp file handling in groff-1.20.
He found and fixed *lots* of ugliness, but most does not look
exploitable and some was already improved in groff-1.21.

This is my own fix for the only one that, with a huge amount of extra
paranoia, might be worth patching. To mount an exploit, the attacker
would need to trick root into setting an unusable TMPDIR (or similar)
variable in the environment such that mktemp -d fails, then convince
root to run pdfroff (*you* don't run that as root, do you?), then
handle a race condition to find the PID and predict the temp file
name to mount a symlink attack.

I think we should still go for the fix jasper@

mozilla-firefox 5.0

2011-06-23 Thread Landry Breuil
Hi,

so Firefox 5 has been released, so far i've only been able to test it on
amd64, so i'd welcome test reports on i386 and macppc. It should build
fine there as i've added the missing bits for 32 bits archs.

For the amd64 pkg:
http://rhaalovely.net/stuff/amd64/mozilla-firefox-5.0.tgz

Grab and build the port:
cd /usr/ports/mystuff/www
git co -b firefox-5 http://rhaalovely.net/git/mozilla-firefox
cd mozilla-firefox
make install

Thanks.

find out the pid anyway. This is a critical fix and users should upgrade

It's also linking gettext statically now (that's what the removed
patch-configure lines were fixing), which is especially obvious if you
--enable-R-shlib (as requested by, and based on a diff from, Sam Smith).

This diff on top of yours (use patch -p1) fixes that, zaps some stray
space chars, corrects license marker, syncs WANTLIB and enables the
shared lib.

Anyway, here's the alpha2 release in case anyone is interested.

(nicm, I know you use svn, and I've added the -r {one day ago} feature

I use svn a bit, but I think posting alpha releases for OpenBSD ports testing
is kinda ridiculous for pretty much any ports. release canditates make more
sense for an app like svn.

Yep, I'll test, cheers.

The no_bindings FLAVOR doesn't seem to build because of something about
Python but I guess that is either my system or I need a later diff?

Never mind, apparently my ports cvs up cron job is busted so the tree is
way old and that's why it complains about Python.

Re: mozilla-firefox 5.0

2011-06-23 Thread Brett

Hi,

so Firefox 5 has been released, so far i've only been able to test it on

amd64, so i'd welcome test reports on i386 and macppc. It should build
fine there as i've added the missing bits for 32 bits archs.

 For the amd64 pkg:

 http://rhaalovely.net/stuff/amd64/mozilla-firefox-5.0.tgz

 Grab and build the port:

 cd /usr/ports/mystuff/www
 git co -b firefox-5http://rhaalovely.net/git/mozilla-firefox

  ^^
make that 'git clone'

Landry

Hi,
I just installed firefox5 using the above instructions on 4.9 (June 6
snapshot), i386. It all works fine, except for a couple of addons that are not
compatible with firefox5.
Thanks for constructing the port!
Brett.

Landry,

thanks for that. I am a git dummy but will get upto speed quickly.

as many others have said on the internets, just edit the string and
bump the firefox version in the .xpi files for the addons in your
mozilla profile folder. Firefox is at version 7 already, how can they
expect volunteers to bump version strings every few weeks?

Re: [patch] math/R 2.8.1 -- 2.12.2

2011-06-23 Thread Daniel Dickman
 - LIB_DEPENDS appears to have some redudant fluff, pango depends on glib, so
no need to depend on glib. cairo depends on png, so no need for png either.

thanks for taking a look. i've removed glib and png dependencies.

 - could you please look at the systrace warnings during the build? i don't
know if they're harmless, but just to be sure.

I suspect this is most likely to be a mkdir() call, my hunch would be
to look at the ones in src/main/dounzip.c first.

i'l take a look. thanks for the hint.

 - it links with -lpthread instead of -pthread in several places

hints appreciated here. this might take me a bit of time to work out.

It's also linking gettext statically now (that's what the removed
patch-configure lines were fixing), which is especially obvious if you
--enable-R-shlib (as requested by, and based on a diff from, Sam Smith).

thanks for this! I've included in the latest patch.

This diff [...] corrects license marker,

i also originally had GPLv2+ because I read answer #1 from the the R
FAQ too quickly (http://cran.r-project.org/doc/FAQ/R-FAQ.html). Later
I realized the or any later version applies to that document not to
R itself. The actual project license details are summarized here
http://www.r-project.org/Licenses/ (and also in the FAQ as Q 2.11) so
I think the original GPLv2 that I had is more correct. I've added a
link to the license page in the latest patch.

... and enables the shared lib.

So, enabling the shared lib give me the following which I haven't
figured out how to fix yet --

$ make update-plist
...
WARNING: version mismatch for lib: R (212.2 vs. 0.0)

NEW: swfmill 0.3.0

2011-06-23 Thread Brad
Here is a port of swfmill 0.3.0.

swfmill is an xml2swf and swf2xml processor with import functionalities.

It's most common use is the generation of asset libraries containing images
(PNG and JPEG), fonts (TTF) or other SWF movies for use with MTASC-compiled
ActionScript, although swfmill can be used to produce both simple and
complex SWF structures.

* built around an XSLT/EXSLT processor (libxslt)

* input and output of the XSLT transformation can be either XML or binary SWF

* XSLT commands for importing PNG, JPEG, TTF and SWF, and for mapping SWF ID
  numbers

* built-in simple dialect to support library creation and building simple SWFs

Addons.mozilla.org will have a process to automatically check addons
compat, so the bump will be done mechanically in the install.rdf files.
