RE: [OT] Funny Hillary Pictures

2007-10-20 Thread Michael Madigan
Yep, she'll soil the oval office, but she won't be
called vile names like the Democrats call bush.

I won't be saying things like, Hillary Clinton lets
American soldiers die for her amusement or Hillary
Clinton went to war to help out her friends or I'm
ashamed of this country.

And I won't suddenly start supporting Bin Laden,
Chavez, Castro because they hate the United States.

I'm not sure we can survive four years with Clinton,
but we did survive four years with Carter, so
anything's possible.

Re: [NF] Searching Erased Drive Space

2007-10-20 Thread Malcolm Greene
Charles,

I don't know about searching deleted files, but if you have to recover a
deleted file I highly recommend the following:

FreeUndelete is a freeware data recovery program for deleted files.
http://www.officerecovery.com/freeundelete/

IMPORTANT: If you've accidentally deleted an important file, make sure
that you do as little as possible on the affected computer - any disk
activity runs the risk of having your deleted files overwritten with
other data. If you use the above utility, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS and
install the utility on another drive or a USB drive so that the undelete
software doesn't overwrite your deleted files.

Good luck!

Malcolm

RE: Ctrl32_StausBar

2007-10-20 Thread Peter Hart
Hi

Has anyone discovered how to get the status bar by Carlos Alloatti to
display what's happening particularly with a table when importing.
I am picking up a data file from the Mailing Preference Services which
holds data on people who do not want junk mail and who have died.
I am running this against a Membership table to mark them as died or not
wanting their names sold.
I want to inform the operator how things are going. So they know
whether they can get on with something else and this works but I would
also like to have the progress reported in the New Status Bar as it is
at the moment reported in the FoxPro Status Bar. I.e. 1200 Records
processed...
Anyone have any ideas.

Cheers

[NF] Third Browser Recommendations Needed

2007-10-20 Thread George
Mozilla is my primary browser and has all possible offensive features
turned off no questions asked. Some sites wont play this way

I use IE when a web site needs Active X etc. but only after asking
permission on each one.

I now need to go into a site that asks for Active X etc. over and over
and over and I am getting tired of clicking yes a hundred and eleventy
seven times.

I am hoping to find a third browser to be my secondary ask each time
browser so I can turn these features on in IE and use IE only for that
one site.

Any suggestions, more important, is there a better way?

TIA

George

2007-10-20 Thread Leland F. Jackson
I think it is incorrect to stereotype individuals, whether by race,
creed, religion, national origin, etc. Within each race you will find a
large divergence, regardless of the trait being measure or the ruler
being used to meter out the result. Within each race there will be
intellectuals and the ignorant, atheletes and the weak, optimist and
skeptist, leaders and followers, etc.

About 15,000 year ago there was only the gray wolf. All the divergent
breeds of dogs today were derived from the gray wolf that was
domesticated and breed by man.

In every race individuals will excel based on there particular gifts and
interest. The humorist Will Rogers probably said it best:

You know everybody is ignorant, only on different subjects.

Well, it does not die with it, but if it sees a significant change with
the HW it may require you to reactivate it and maybe explain it away to a M$
tech as a replacement motherboard in the same PC. Could get edgy. I would
opt for the full version of XP Pro were it not for my MDSN subscription.
Have you looked into getting the MSDN license through the M$ Independent
Software Vendor (ISV) Empower program? I think it is $375 for all OS and
apps for multiple machines used to develop M$ based solutions. At the end
of the year the monthly updates stop, but you can keep using the OS/Apps.

2007-10-20 Thread Leland F. Jackson
What I'm saying is measuring intellignece is very subjective and
specific to a given individual, rather than to a specific race. The
tests that measure intelligence do not fall under any exact scientific
laws of physics, chemistry, biology, or mathematics. They cannot be
expressed in exact scientific formulas in which the variable can be plug
in to yeild an answer. They are simply approximations based on what is
normal within a given test population.

For example, if we had some remote tribe of a third would country design
a test based on what should be know, (eg knowledge) or understood (eg
mastery of tribal customs, language, hunting skills, survival skills
within their environment, etc), I would expect you to perfrom well below
the statistical norms of the tribe. Can we extrapolate this result to
label the tribe as a superior race, and your race as an inferior race.
To answer my own question, Not really.

RE: memberdata

2007-10-20 Thread Ken Dibble

But I would still like to know what memberdata is.

Memberdata is a form of XML storage for add-on information about VFP
objects. It was added in VFP 8 or 9. The original idea was to let
developers do stuff like make custom object PEMs appear capitalized or
camel-cased in the Properties window. It is also used by some of the newer
reporting features. It's allegedly user-extensible for other purposes as
well. However, using it makes the object that contains it incompatible with
previous VFP versions (ie., forms won't open). Some people have reported
that using it extensively causes the IDE to run more slowly.

Well, it does not die with it, but if it sees a significant change with
the HW it may require you to reactivate it and maybe explain it away to a M$
tech as a replacement motherboard in the same PC. Could get edgy. I would
opt for the full version of XP Pro were it not for my MDSN subscription.

My sister has a IBM ThinkCentre A50 8090 PC. The board of that PC has
just died. The PC uses i865GV chipset. So I bought a new motherboard, an
Asrock P4i65G using i865G chipset, and assembled a new PC using the
living CPU, DDR-400 RAM and the harddisk.

When the new PC boots, it required me to activate Windows XP. I haven't
confirmed that one yet.

In the worst case scenario, the activation would fail because the
hardware has been changed and I would need to buy a new copy of Windows,
likely a Vi$ta Home Basic.

If this is true, and I believe it is, why is it some groups of people look to
other groups of people to solve their problems. It would appear to be culture,
not that one group of people are better than others, but that some cultures
work better than others, wouldn't you say?

Which then brings up the 'virtue' of 'multi-culturalism', which seeks to inject
aspects of less operational cultures into others to gain what could be called a
free ride. People who want to come to the US legally are more than welcome,
but they need to remember they are coming to a place not their own and they
have no right to expect everyone to adjust to their liking. If they like the
old culture better, that is where they should stay. If they want to come to
become part of the existing culture... come on in!

This is not to say they should all emulate WASPs. Tonight I had an enjoyable
evening in a Mexican restaurant... good food and good music. The only downer
was a waitress who did not understand enough English to even take the food
order. Gimme a break! If I were in Mexico, I would expect to have to deal at
least some in Spanish, but not in Richmond VA! I go to Indian restaurants and
they speak better English than I do.

It is good to have a sense of place. When I was in Holland a few years ago,
there was a distinctly Dutch culture, likewise when I was in Bermuda, the
English culture and Mexico the Mexican culture. Everyone thinks this is OK.
However when I ask to have a distinctly American culture, I am called a closed
minded bigot by those too foolish to recognize that this American culture came
to be over many years and has pulled elements from many cultures.

It is interesting that people who are most likely to believe in 'natural
selection' are the ones least likely to want to see it in action and seek all
sorts of artificial protections for failing segments of society.
