Dell , why do you change a winning team?

Dell was not a winner for me. I had a Dell Optiplex. The
laser printer I did not use heavily. Possibly, the printer resented
this as it died after using about 1.2 toner cartridges. Yes, that is
one and a fifth. A few months later, the computer itself
died. Loneliness? I still have the monitor though.

Winning team or not, there may be other brands with some useful
features that you find useful though computers are rather commodity.

Oh, that's funny. I have been using the archive to refresh my memory since
you posted it, and had never picked up on that before.

Well, don't go changing it now!

Thanks, Ed!

(OK, guys, from now on, I guess we'll have to start each thread with a
unique subject line. Maybe we should add a GUID?)

Kidding, I'm kidding!

Well, the way a “thread” is determined is by the subject line. That’s because
email clients back when that code was written were pretty bad about maintaining
threading via the Message-ID and In-Reply-To: headers. So I wrote something
that just searches on the subject, with any “Re:”,"[NF]”, or “[OT]” prefixes
ignored. So the message with the subject “Your laptop” matches the 2004 message
with the subject "RE: [NF] Insure your laptop”, as well as the message from
2006 with the subject "RE: [OT] Just because you can take your laptop into the
bathroom..."

It is what it is.

Ed:

Seeing some funny misbehavior with the archive, or perhaps people are
reposting old message threads.

When I look at message https://leafe.com/archives/msg/512987 that Mike
posted yesterday, and select the link for "View Entire Thread" the link is:

https://leafe.com/archives/full_thread/512987

But the resulting message is from 2004! That's a long thread, even for us!

RE: ReFox branding (encryption)

2019-03-25 Thread Tracy Pearson
Mike,

We use it at our office. We keep the debug information for line numbers in our
error messages. Being a 30+ year, originally Clipper, code base, there are
some PRGs that are greater than 2000 lines of code. Some technical debt I just
haven't cleaned up.
If you don't have one a program that access code in another program, you can
use the higher encryptions II, II+, III.

Trying to decide which one to use. I'm looking for comments from those

AW: Your laptop

2019-03-25 Thread juergen
I was a long time Dell Latitude fan, but the current series is nowhere as
useful as the 55 / 65 series.

Nowadays I'm quite happy with my Microsoft Surface Book. You can tear it apart
to be only a Tablet, or use it as a regular Laptop. Not exactly on the cheaper
side of products, but very handy. Very good Graphicscard (internal resolution
is 3000x2000), and together with the Surface Dock I'm using it on a 40 inch
monitor with 4k (3840*2160 pixels).

Keyboard is very good, also the mechanical endurance is top. 16Gb RAM should be
enuf, same with the builtin SD (512Gb or 1Tb).
The Pen is optional, I use it only sometimes for quick drawings (maybe I'm too
old for getting an artist here)
