I have a small system here on V11 with VFP9 SP1 and ODBC works no problem
in both reading and writing data. I just inherited it from a Filemaker V8

if you are using 64bit Windows then the 64 bit driver will be looked for
and VFP only works with the 32 bit driver - The same goes for the SQL

 Subject: ODBC Problem

Has anyone encountered any issues using ODBC with a third party product.
Query's via Excel work fine, via VFP they don't work full stop using the
the View designers and give random results using SQL Pass Through.

 Thanks

 Chris.

The ODBC Driver in question is for Filemaker.

I have an old house with plaster walls through which wireless signals
seem loathe to pass. As a result, I have 3 Wireless Access Points
 positioned strategically throughout. Worked fine.

A couple of weeks ago, I had to reposition the router and a nearby
switch that form the hub of the network. Because of the change of
location, I had to unplug all of the lan cables, move the devices and
plug cables back in. Since then, only one of WAPs gets an Internet
 signal.

Usually, it is a matter of powering down all of the devices (including
computers), waiting a minute or two, and powering back up. I have done
this a few times with no luck.

Does it matter which devices one powers first? WAPs, then Router
versus Router, then WAPs? Kids/wife are all unhappy with me that only
one wireless device is working. Anyone have clues to restore my happy
 home?

 Thanks,

 Ken

YEARS - he would Insist that they not be used in the system. Well, he's
been gone for like 1.5 years by now.

Well, recently - in 2 different client systems and for 2 different
purposes - I decided to use a Memo field in a DBF. And, now it seems I
may be regretting having done so.

There has been one or more times with the one client - where there was a
problem - and it seems that the Memo file or data got corrupted.

And - now the problem is worse. It seems this one DBF (or maybe it was
multiple ones - as it happened a day ago and I don't have the full
report from the client) - that the DBF or a progam had crashed. Now -
they figured it was an Index problem - and re-indexed the files - but,
no good. So - my QA Tech buddy (they do the direct client support) - he
copied these 3 DBF files to another data folder - re-created the CDX
files for each - and then tried running this report - and the report
 Still crashed.

In the end - I had him Download from the client's server this one DBF -
along with the attached FPT file - to see if I could make it crash here
in the office. And, sure enough - a slight manipulation would make VFP
crash (Error: Fatal Error: Exception Code=C005). The error
originally happened when I would copy multiple records out to a Temp
file (that was the code in this report program). So - when I did it here
 - the same crash would happen. I think narrowed down which record caused
the problem - by copying only a SINGLE Record at a time out to a Temp
file (each temp file was concatenated with the Record # - so I could see
which record caused the problem). And that did work. Just now - I went
to that record - and just went to double-click on the Memo field - and
 the Error occurred again.

So - it seems its Definitely the Memo field that is causing the problem!

Any advice? Should I re-write their systems to NOT use Memo fields???

 Thanks,

  -K-

I need to verify that for a given transaction the value field in all the
rows belonging to it are either 0, and therefore an invoice, or 0 and
 therefore a credit note.

If there is a mixture of both 0 and 0 then this is a fail condition.

It can obviously be done in a few lines of code but can it be done in
 one SQL Select statement ?

In the example below, the first three are one transaction which would
fail because one value is negative, the last two are taken as two
separate transactions and would be OK.

'mycol' is not found. mycol is definitely in the table. You gave me

Anyone remember that or have the solution? It is not in the VFP help

my application it tried to print it to the label printer!

So the Access programmer is doing some magic to get the labels to work.

I won't be able to sell my application unless the labels work.

My questions are, can I set up two printers in Printers Faxes that
 point to the same printer?

Should I create a report instead of a label and send it to the label
printer to over ride the printer settings?

Thank you in advance for your expert advice. I really appreciate it!!!

Subject: Re: RDT and Windows XP Prof

Maybe I wasn't clear in my first post.

This is a very small client (His store I mean, he is taller than me :-) ).

Just a store with only one computer (no network of any kind).
This computer is XP Prof and runs an invoicing system, built in VFP9SP2.
No SQL Server as a back end.
He has an idle wife at home and wants her to update pricelists,
products, etc. from home. Since she would be working during store hours,
the solution is either RDT or a VPN.
I have been making tests with Hamachi but it is slow in their scenario
(low band width), and I have been using RDT with Windows Server 2003
very successfully with other clients, so I am confident with it. Because
this is a small client (ie, very little money and also a bit on the
stingy side) he won't purchase Windows Server. So I am stuck with XP Prof.
So, the situation is: employees using the one XP box to invoice
customers over the counter and at the same time, idle wife uses computer
from home to occupy herself productively. (perhaps this is a very
macho statement, so I apologize to the women in this forum, but this
 is really the case)

 So, there you have it

 Regards

 Rafael

It looks like you got your answer, but this perked my curiosity.

If the controlling computer is on the same network, why wouldn't you just
do the updates from that computer? If I recall, you said they were
 updating
databases, etc. If the database is on a database server (e.g. SQL Server,
MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc) then the connection is probably going through
 ODBC
so any computer on the network could connect. If the database is a VFP
database (or file-based DBMS) then I'd imagine it's located on a network
drive which should also be available to computers on the network. Or, if
the VFP database is only on the single machine, it would be possible to
just share/map a drive to that computer from other computers on the
 network.

I'm not saying any one way is right or wrong, just curious what drove you
  to RDT.

Have to checked the version of the printer driver on the PC in question?
You might want to look into the StrToFile() command as a way to bypass using
the print rountine.

It doesn't like the /e. Syntax issue? I just get an error saying The

putting the /e at the end as well, including reversing the slash, but
 still error.
