 Hi all,

how can i permanently change the defaultsettings for example components,
track and other stuff in the PCB LIB.
it is changed under Tools, preferences, defaults.

changing is possible, i can save it and load it back, but it is not loaded
 by starting Protel.

i changed the ADVPCB.DFT with my saved file, but protel still uses its own
 'defaults'

 thanks

Do you have Save Peferences checked? Not under the Tools menu, but on
the pull down menu activated by the down arrow on left end of the
toolbar.

[PEDA] Via Nets

2001-10-25 Thread Jim Muehlberg

Though I have permenent checked in the via default menu, when placing
vias, the net name always resets to no net.

Is this normal behavior? or is it a bug?

Jim

[PEDA] Crash While Netlisting

2001-05-07 Thread Jim Muehlberg

Using Protel 99SE sp6, Win2Kpro...

I have a heierarchy with three schematics. Upon executing update PCB,
protel crashes. After restarting, I can no longer open the schematics
or the project sheet. Using the repair Database tool has no effect.
This has happened at least three times so far, on different projects.

Has Anyone seen this problem? I mailed the .ddb file to Protel, so I'll
post their answer when it comes.

 Don't exaggerate. It would be $7995. :-)

In that case, it would not be surprising to see the upgrade price be $1995.
That would be a tad expensive; it would put Protel maintenance into the
same range as other CAD systems, maybe even a bit more.

On the other hand, the increased price may include, say, $500 for
CAMtastic, so upgrade might be kept down to $1495. Funny, I thought $1495
was expensive until I chewed on $1995 for a bit.

I can help people with used licenses, but it's not quite the same with
upgrades. I can ease ya through the door, but ya still gotta pay the help.

According to Rick Wilson, Manager of Corporate Services, from whom I
just received training at a seminar, the upgrade price will be $795 to
$995.

Subject: [PEDA] Schematics to Netlist Integrity question.

 Hi,

I use Protel 99 SE on Windows 98 , a couple of times
when I generate the netlist from the Schematics, some
connections drop out, they are on the schematics but
they don't appear on the netlist. Is there a way over that
without having to review the whole netlist.

 Thanks

 M. Wahab

Not mentioned so far is electrical grid. Set the electrical grid
slightly less (2 mil) than the snap to grid and visible grid. Another
poblem that bit me was that the footprint pad number must be the same as
the component pin numbers, or they will not connect. i.e. a component
with pins A, B, C will not netlist with a footprint numbered 1, 2,
3. It's easy to misnumber a footprint that you're building and forget
to fix it!
