Re: [PEDA] How to create a IPC-356 or Mentor-Neutral netlist with Protel 99SE?

2001-08-23 Thread Florian Finsterbusch

Thanks to all who have tried to help me with the IPC-356 netlist problem.

In the first stepi will give the manufacturer of the PCB the netlist created
with the Protel testpoint function.
I will tell you if it is working or not.

I think it was reported that there was a problem with it Rob. I was going
to try a simple design, the next time I have one ( and does not require a
quick turn). While I appreciate Wolfgang's suggestion to try the RSI netlist
generator, we also encountered some netlist problems with the RSI product.
One problem that is apparent is the source netlist from Protel can not be
used, (correct me If I am wrong, Wolfgang). A netlist is generated within
CamCad, which makes it no better than using a gerber generated netlist used
by the Fabricator.

I haven't actually sent them anything since I found it would generate it.
They did say that they would love to get the IPC-D-356A netlist, and we
prefer it to them generating a netlist from the gerbers since it will
prevent us from one of those nasty in the gerber but not in the source
problems. I looked at the files and it is a simple format that they should
not have problems with (I Hope).

Rob,
Has your board houses had any problems with the IPC-D-356A netlist generated
in Protel? I thought there were some problems with Protel's netlist
generator. I am also getting alot of request for IPC-D-356A netlist

This was talked about a month or two ago. In the Cam manager create a
testpoint output and then select IPC-D-356A. Now set the options you want
(I select all of them) and when you generate the gerbers it will generate
the netlist that the board house can use.

Easy but not intuitive when your trying to generate it after the gerbers
have gone out.
