Where are you removing the AAX plug ins from? I find most people are removing
them from the degidesign or avid folder in their application folder and i think
that just delete the alieus (aka the shortcut as you may think of it on
windows) but not the actual plug ins.

if its standard midid, then drivers wouldn't be needed. PT reference manual
should be able to get up and going with configuring midi devices and what
exactly you can do with standard midi in PT.

Re: Guitar amp Modellers

2014-06-26 Thread TheOreoMonster
I am liking AmpKit. Its however standalone and not currently available in a
plug in format. But its pretty straightforward to use sound cloud to route
audio out of Pro Tools and into AmpKit and then back into pro tools to record
it.

RE: Recommend your favorite waves plugins.

2014-06-26 Thread Poppa Bear
I do think that the CLA stuff is pretty nice to. I got all of the one knob
stuff and I find myself using it a lot less than I expected, maybe if I did
a lot of live venue stuff it would come in handy. Another plug that I don't
find too valuable in a mix is the Vocal rider stuff, but the C4 is another
one that I used for many years and many people can't live without it. If you
are fawned of using DeEssers the Renaissance DeEsser is much better than the
native PT one IMO.

RE: Recommend your favorite waves plugins.

2014-06-26 Thread Poppa Bear
I have been using waves for quite a few years now and after aqumulating
dozens of them, I can give you a short list of the waves I would feel
complete with anywhere. As for reasons, if you have a particular question I
can give you my opinion or two. I use the API 2500 compressor on almost
everything, in second place to that is the V-comp, it seems to have a little
mojo of its own that seems to work more like a multi band comp/EQ, but for
the most part, The 2500 is all I need. I use the API 550 B EQ to help cut
some mud out of things here and there, and in second to that is the V-3 EQ.
For delay I use the H delay, and occasionally the Super Tap, but mainly the
H delay can be found on most of my projects. The last is the L2, it is kind
of a standard bread and butter for my final mixes. I will sometimes use the
SSL channel, or the Q 10 EQ, but the first ones I mentioned are kind of a
must for me at this point.

Re: Pro Tools 10 v. 11 Accessibility Improvements

2014-06-26 Thread Christopher-Mark Gilland
I personally am still on PT10, so you have at least one list member who
hasn't yet converted. the only reason I've not though is financial
reasoning. I have every intention however to upgrade probably in the next
month or two. the only other thing really holding me back is, I don't have
anyone sighted near me who is technologically savvy enough to help me with
getting the PT 10/11 bundle ILok license on my ILok dongle. Aside those two
things though, if I can find a way to work around those issues, I definitely
will be updating, no question.

Hi PT Access community,

I'm reconnecting with the community after a long absence. I've been
subsisting on PT HD 8 plus Sonar. It appears a lot has happened with PT
accessibility in PT 11.1 while I was gone. I'm just now trying to catch
up

and see if I can benefit from accessibility improvements. Unfortunately,
because I am limited to my HD Accel hardware, I cannot use PT HD 11. And,
because my current MAC Pro is from 2008, it appears I cannot use PT Native
11. After catching up on some of the forum posts, can folks confirm the
below?

-More features are accessible in PT 10 than were previously accessible in
PT 8
-PT 10 accessibility is hindered in Mountain Lion so I should go to
Mavericks or stay on Lion
-MIDI event handling is still inaccessible in PT 10 so I'll need to keep
using Sonar for these tasks until I can move to PT 11.1

Are folks on the list still using PT 10 or has everyone moved up to 11.1
to

take advantage of additional accessibility improvements?

Mixing Howlin in Pro Tools 11

Mixing
Howlin in Pro Tools 11

In this one hour and forty five minute video Ben
Lindell mixes Amber Skye's 'Howlin', in the box using Avid Pro Tools 11.
Using his unique approach to routing and a
hybrid workflow he demonstrates and discusses
the importance of working on both the details
and the big picture of a mix simultaneously.Ben
primarily uses plugins by Universal Audio,
Sonnox, Softube, Flux and Soundtoys, showing

builds the mix around Amber's vocal. Using some
of the new features in Pro Tools 11 along with
Ben's favorite digital and analog mix-bus
processing chain, the song quickly blossoms from
a great rough to a final mix before your eyes.
