Hi Bren yes that is strange you can’t use apple script. After what i’ve heard
about the sierra behaviour with pt, i’ve also decided to stay with yosemite for
now, It works well with flotools here. I am running pt 12.61 i think.\

2017-09-07 Thread Brian Casey
Haha nuke and pave!

I'm still adjusting to mac life slowly outside PT so will rap my head around
the OS nuking and paving when there's more down time I reckon.

Yes the Yosemite bug is a real thorn in my side, especially as I work quite
happily without the new Sierra commands mentioned.

Happy to split life between the 2 systems for now anyway.

2017-09-07 Thread Brian Casey
I've been dividing my time between machines with and without FloTools for over
6 months and have found it easy, largely because of how FloTools feels like a
natural augmentation rather than a redefining of PT for me, though I'm sure
that will vary from person to person.
I'm finding a really useful logic to the FloTools key commands.

It is way down the list of things that cost me time and money when swapping
studios unfortunately

For what its worth I and several other PT "pros" don't use flowtools mainly

Re: FloTools issues on sierra 10.12.3 with PT 12.8

2017-09-07 Thread Slau Halatyn
Hi Brian,
Yep, I'm tolerating the Sierra behavior. Being able to jump between track list
and clips list with VO+j and instantly going to the top or bottom of tables
with VO+Home and End outweighs the nuisance of the VoiceOver focus issue. Also,
I couldn't even begin to calculate the time I've saved with Flo Tools so it's
all good.

Yes, the track list appearing to the right for you is because the mixer is
scrolled down. Paging up should fix the problem and, yes, it's most likely
because you're working from a template at the outset.

I still don't understand why your system is not letting you check the checkbox
to allow scripts to control VoiceOver. That is a real head scratcher. Well, I'd
say the transition to Sierra is worth it but I would highly recommend a nuke
and pave approach so as not to inherit any quirks from Yosemite. Keep us posted.
Cheers,
slau

2017-09-07 Thread Brian@Wavefield Recordings
Slau, my apologies, I vaguely recall having been told this already, I
think I have FloTools working as it should in that case. Are you
sucking it up for want of a better phrase and working off Sierra
regardless of this VO bug? My main studio machine is still on Yosemite
and working extremely stable, but it won't allow me let VO be
controlled by apple scripts for some reason, so I'm still weighing up
pros and cons of upgrading for FloTools benefits or staying where I am
for now. That VO bug in Sierra would slow me down quite a bit mixing,
but FLoTools would speed up tracking sessions especially quite a bit,
the modified mouse click stuff is making me quite happy right now
although I'm only just learning the ropes.

On an aside Slau, we spoke off list a while back about the track list
table showing up to the right/the bottom of the mix window for me an
other unpredictable behaviour, I'm not sure why this is still
happening, but I seem to be able to solve it every time by hiding and
then showing all tracks in the session. I'm no closer to knowing
exactly why it was happening so consistently, but it could be partly
down to the fact that a huge number of my projects were based off the
same session template.
