Question on latest Protools on Mojave

2019-05-11 Thread Christian
Hi all,

I just have a few questions on latest Protools on Mojave.
I listened to the old Protools with speech tutorial some while ago, will I
still have to do all settings suggested in there in order for the best
experience with Protools?
And at last, is step recording accessible?
Many thanks and best regards,
Christian

Music composition with ProTools question

2019-04-20 Thread Christian
Hi all,

OK, so I have not posted much into this group, but I’d like to hear your
opinions.
I’ve got Logig Pro X installed, and I have been thinking about installing
ProTools and try to learn it. But, when it comes to music creation, may Logic
Pro X be a better alternative?
I read some posts on the net that some musicians prefer Logic especially when
composing music and ProTools for editing and mastering.
So, what do you think?
I want to be able to compose music with my ideas.
Many thanks and best regards,
Christian

Virtual instrument question

2018-03-17 Thread Christian
Hi all,

OK, so I am just searching for a good virtual instrument that I can use with
Protools. I have used Expand2, but I want to have some more sounds. On Windows
I used Independence from Magix, but what other alternatives are out there since
I want to have a library of good quality sounds of different styles.
Independence was about 70 GB in size.

Many thanks,

Flotools and Protools question

2018-02-17 Thread Christian
Hi all,

OK, so I’ve finally installed Flotools and Protools 2018 but I have a question.
Where do I set track heights to medium?
And at last, if my display language is not set to English US, but my keyboard
is set to it, is that fine or should the display language also be set?

Many thanks,

2018-02-16 Thread Christian
Hi all,

OK, so I have finally got it working! I did a reinstall of the system and with
Filevault enabled as well and now I could enable that checkbox.
However, I have a question. How do I ge to the tracks table and have it shown?
If using the VoiceOver cursor I cannot seem to find it.
Many thanks,
Christian

Hello Michael,
Many thanks for your reply.
OK, but I am not able to access the About Protools dialog using VO. Nothing
seems to be shown, did you have to use the window choocer?

Many thanks

Hi Christian,

the about pro tools dialog should be accessible with VO. But you can get
the latest update by logging into your avid account, downloading the
latest pro tools update from there and installing it manually.
The current version is 11.3.
Concerning VO-preferences: I dind’t adjust anything and it works fine
for me. You could think of disabling bluetooth and adjusting power
management settings, to prevent your mac from changing into sleep mode
after some minutes of inactivity. But in terms of accessibility in my
experience there isn’t something special to adjust.

Good luck and best.

Protools 11 questions

2015-01-11 Thread Christian
Hi all,
So now that I've got Protools 11 installed I have a few questions.
First are there any special adjustments I should make within Protools for best
accessibility?
And also, I got a message telling me about an update and I secelted to install
but nothing seemed to happen. Maybe the updator is not accessible with VO as
well as the About Protools dialog?
Many thanks!

Protools 11

Hi folks,
OK, so now I got the Ilok and ready to install Protools trial later today. Was

I read somewhere that there could be problems with that.
And also, will I need sighted assistance with activating Protools or how is it
with the Ilok system?
Many thanks!

Finally got a Mac and ready to start with Protools

2014-10-24 Thread Christian
Hi all,
OK, so now, I have got a Mac and I am now thinking about getting started with
Protools.
I have been unsubscribed from this list for a little while, so i haven't
followed along that much.
How is it now when working in MIDI in ProTools as i will be doing, how
accessible is it compared to Sonar as some of you may have been using? Are
there any GM synths included like the Cakewalk TTS1 that comes with Sonar?
I will try out the demoversion first of Protools, but neded to get my Ilok so
that I can try it.
Many thanks for any info!

PT11 and MIDI

2014-04-20 Thread Christian
Hi again all,
I have not got any clear answer to this, so I have to ask again.
Since I have been using mostly MIDI in Cakewalk Sonar and a little audio
besides that, how is it with MIDI and editing it in PT11?
For example, is there some kind of event view? is it easy to navigate with VO?
I am thinking about purchasing the latest Mac Mini with 8 GB RAM.
Many thanks for any replies,
Christian

drum program called Boom, a full instrument library with drums called
expand, a Grand piano and some other stuff that I am not familiar with.
There are hundreds of sounds in the box and the nice thing is, the settings

Yes they do, they have an extinsive sweet of native affects just like
 Sonar.
All of the native settings for the plugins unlike Sonar are accessible
 down
to the DB, attack, release, delays, and reverbs without needing HSC sets
 and
going through the track inspector that only gives values in percentages
which can be like flying in the blind, no pun intended.

RE: Protools accessibility

2014-01-05 Thread Christian
Hi all,
Many thanks for your replies!
I am using Sonar as of today for recording MIDI, doing some mixing and
mastering also.
I have been thinkibg about a Mac some day, and if I get it I would like to know
that I can record MIDI and audio, edit and add effects, work with softsynths,
move between my recorded tracks, etc. In short, the things I can do in Sonar as
of today.
Are there any softsynths included with Protools?
Many thanks,
Christian

Christian, I have been a Sonar user up untill this last year or so when I
got my PT set up. At this point I run my small scale home recording studio
with Pro Tools. I have clients in weekly to record, mix and do a little
mastering. I can do everything in PT in those three areas as well as I could
in Sonar. I have found that some steps are a little quicker in Sonar IMO,
but having the reliability of the Mac, just one built in screen reader and
the ability to work along side with my sighted counterparts on a fairly
equal playing field, using the same DAW as them and sharing and colaberating
on the same DAW makes up for anything I may miss about Sonar.

Hi christian,

Welcome to the list. In attempting to answer your question, for illustration
purposes, allow me to turn the tables just a little bit. I've never used
Sonar. If I asked you how accessible it is, you might have some of the same
thoughts that I have when I see a question like this. For example, how
accessible something is has largely to do with how a person feels about
it. In other words, what's quite accessible to one person might not be very
accessible to another. Further, I have absolutely no idea what your
knowledge and experience is so it makes it really challenging to answer a
general question like that. If I had to answer as best I could, to me, Pro
Tools is very accessible. There are aspects of it that are not yet
accessible so, depending on your specific needs, it might make sense or not.
Until recently, the MIDI Event List was not readable. That didn't mean you
couldn't create MIDI tracks and record and edit them but you couldn't do it
with the control and detail that you could in Sonar. Now you can. If MIDI
was your thing, it wasn't terribly accessible, that is, until now.

The more specific you are with questions of what's possible or not, the
better people on the list will be able to answer. Your question is really a
big one, as simple as it sounds and I'm sure you'd get a better answer if
you could be more specific and tell us about what your needs are, what
you're looking to do and maybe even why you're interested in Pro Tools if
you're already working in Sonar.

Cheers,

Slau
