Hi I sometimes  get this c p u overload error message on my mac book pro. I  
did raise this question on the list before a while back.  From memory Slau told 
me  there is some information about cpu maximisation in the protools manual, 
but i have not looked for it.
Good luck getting this sorted, Sounds like a night mare.

Brian I have never clipped a track in ProTools. I have done this with the 
levels I have never clipped  track and all the time I've used it which is only 
five or six months. But I have managed to get one song in the top 38 on the 
blues chart in the natiogn. There are lots of blind people using this program 
it is not a piece of junk relax and take it easy my friend you will get there.

Did you try searching for a solution or asking the same question on
the DUC? You are more likely to find a answer for this over there,

CPU error message

I am working with a project that has 10 tracks, and no plugins on the session.  
I keep getting the following error message:

Pro Tools ran out of CPU power. Try de-activating or removing Native plug-ins.  
(AAE -9173) text
This cannot be possible because I have a mac book pro with a 2.9 I7 quad core 
processor with 8G of ram.  Anybody else getting this error message and is there 
anything I can do to stop this from happening all the time?  I did some 
research on this, and apparently this is a bug that started in pro tools 11.2.  
Apparently this has nothing to do with CPU power.  I am running pro tools 12.0.

CPU error message

I have done extensive reading about this CPU error issue, and this is 
discouraging because it doesn’t look like there is a fix for this problem.  
Here is an accessibility question…  How do you read the CPU usage meter with 
voiceover?  This is absolutely unbelievable that I have paid all this money for 
pro tools and I may not be able to use it.  From what I have been reading on 
the forums, avid doesn’t seem to have any interest in fixing this problem.  All 
I want to know is has anyone else on this list had this problem.  This session 
has 10 tracks in it.  There are no plugins on the session, and from what I was 
reading, it doesn’t matter if you have plugins in the session or not, the 
problem is still occurring.  I am very frustrated.

Here is an update. I opened up another project, and this did not happen at all. 
I let it run through the entire project, and everything worked as normal. Weird.
