Re: Cubase accessibility

2011-05-22 Thread Ronald van Rhijn
Hi,
Well if the new Cubase is as accessible as their Mac version of Wavelab I
wouldn't bet my money on it. that was pretty unuseable with Voice Over. Bought
a usb licenser especially to try the demo.
best,
Ronald

I have a link that the steinberg guy sent me, I had a quik read on the
site and it looks like you can activate it without a usb dongle they
say something about E licencing software installed with the trial.
 anyway here's the link
 http://www.steinberg.net/en/products/cubase/trial_version.html
as for the website speaking german just go in to your verbosity
settings and switch off the auto language detect. I receved another
mail from the guy from steinberg, guess he realised that he wasn't
that helpfull in the first. I'll paist his mail.
 Dear Mr. De Vos,
We have had special research groups with a team of dedicated engineers
about Cubase accessibility for the blind and to improve functionality
 for this matter.
I have already been in contact with another blind user that wanted me
to confirm that Cubase on Mac is a cocoa framework application.
The reason for that is that modern Screereaders are cocoa framework
optimized and work especially well, with cocoa framework
 applications.
I can tell you that all menu items and entry fields should be read out
 by the screenreader software.

It is however also important to realize that here is an
interdependency between Cubase, the Screenreader and the operating
 system.
Mac OS X Lion is stated to come out in the summer of 2011.

It would be interesting to test how Cubase 6, the Screenreader and Mac
OS X Lion will work together.

 Best regards,
 Jan Hendrik Peters

Don't know what you guys think but to me this is still not very
helpfull after asking the guy if they have actually tested cubase or
neuendo themselves, but I guess this is better than nothing from their
side. Would really appriciate if one of you guys can test it and give
 us some feedback.

Hi all this is off topic but some might find it useful. I said a while back
that I'm going to try cubase and neuendo on mac to check if one of the two
is accessible. I have had the chance to test cubase 5 on a system but it
 had
OS 5.8.3 obviously with a older version of voiceover so cubase didn't work.
A couple of days ago I contacted steinberg who makes cubase and neuendo
asking them if they tested one of their products for accessibility. I got a
reply today, it's not as useful as I hoped but the guy told me that the new
Cubase 6 is now a coco application where cubase 5 was only modified to work
on mac, its core wasn't coco. Because of this he said, cubase6 might be
accessible and that I should get the trail version and test it however my
employers where I have access to macs would not allow me to install it on
their machines to test. So if there's anybody with some time and
 willingness
to test cubase 6 with voiceover, please do and let us know what results you
 get.

I was also hoping to take this for a quick spin with a free hour I
have this evening. Gotten as far as steinberg.net talking German at
me, Googling for a direct link without much joy, and noticing people
saying you need an E Licence key or something to grab the trial?

If anybody gets any further with it, would love to hear about it. Feel
free to ping me a mail off list.

Cheers
Scott
