And, by the way, the steps you outlined are exactly right. Keep in mind that
the process can work intermittently because Keyboard Maestro performs the click
and drag at the computer's fastest speed and it sometimes does it faster than
Pro Tools can register so you need to sometimes issue the command a few times.
Sometimes it works the very first try. Remember, the drag will put the clip
right where the insertion is and it's helpful (and possibly even necessary for
the insertion cursor to be visible in the window. That's where the scrolling of
the page comes in handy. Be aware also that Pro Tools seems to default to no
scrolling unless perhaps a template remembers that kind of thing. I somehow
doubt that's the case however.

Slau

Hi Peter,

You can certainly drag to wherever the insertion cursor is in the timeline.
Make sure you have Edit window scrolling set to something like page or
continuous. Move the insertion cursor to the desired location and just engage
the transport for a second and stop. Perform the steps for dragging and the
clip will end up exactly where the insertion resides.

Dragging clips to timeline

2018-02-01 Thread Peter Bosher

Hi All,

When using FloTools to drag clips from the clip-list onto the timeline,
is it possible to spot them to the selection cursor time, or do they
always go to the beginning of the track?

I'm working on a project where I have to bring in lots of pre-recorded
clips on different tracks at different times, and I'd so much like to
nail this process, because it is still hit and miss for me.  So, if you
have patience, please could you check my procedure below?

I find the clip I need in the clip-list with the VO cursor, press
command-option-shift comma, then stop interacting, find the track where
I want the clip to go, (not in the tracklist table but in the edit
window), then press command-option-shift period.  Am I missing
anything?  Sometimes it works, but sometimes it will say 'dragging
failed'.  and it always goes to time zero.   Any pointers on exact
details, especially spotting to the selection time, very much appreciated.

Best,

Peter
