some old school multi band comp/eq on tracks to drop/cut/boost frequencies
and pan where needed, along with adding some reverb or delay to create a
bigger more spacious sound, then blend them. As far as using for field
recordings, I could see it being a good tool for saving time to clean up
some stuff.

RE: Recommend your favorite waves plugins.

2014-06-26 Thread Poppa Bear
I do think that the CLA stuff is pretty nice to. I got all of the one knob
stuff and I find myself using it a lot less than I expected, maybe if I did
a lot of live venue stuff it would come in handy. Another plug that I don't
find too valuable in a mix is the Vocal rider stuff, but the C4 is another
one that I used for many years and many people can't live without it. If you
are fawned of using DeEssers the Renaissance DeEsser is much better than the
native PT one IMO.

So waves have dropped a coupon code on me, and they also appear to be having
a pretty massive sale for the next day or so. So where should i spend my
money? Any recommendations or favorites and why?

Thanks

RE: Recommend your favorite waves plugins.

2014-06-26 Thread Poppa Bear
I have been using waves for quite a few years now and after aqumulating
dozens of them, I can give you a short list of the waves I would feel
complete with anywhere. As for reasons, if you have a particular question I
can give you my opinion or two. I use the API 2500 compressor on almost
everything, in second place to that is the V-comp, it seems to have a little
mojo of its own that seems to work more like a multi band comp/EQ, but for
the most part, The 2500 is all I need. I use the API 550 B EQ to help cut
some mud out of things here and there, and in second to that is the V-3 EQ.
For delay I use the H delay, and occasionally the Super Tap, but mainly the
H delay can be found on most of my projects. The last is the L2, it is kind
of a standard bread and butter for my final mixes. I will sometimes use the
SSL channel, or the Q 10 EQ, but the first ones I mentioned are kind of a
must for me at this point.

Personally, I use the CLA76 in a majority of mixes. Also, a big fan of
true verb.
