RE: problem deleting selection
Hi Poppa and Matt, I think I found tee solution. Simply said: Voiceover says that the track is selected but it seems it was not. I selected another track. Unselect it again and select the original track. Hitting delete then worked as aspected. Thank you for all your advices. Re: problem deleting selection
Hello, I doubt having a demonstration copy install is your issue here. When I first started with ProTools it was as a demo and I don't recall us ever being a problem. If you're using ProTools 11, unselect every track in the project, using voice over . Then reselect only the track that you wish to delete material from. The fact that you can delete audio using the tutorials just makes me there is just a selection problem going on here. RE: problem deleting selection
Tom, I was in the same boat, I migrated to PT after using Sonar for many years, and for about the first year I struggled with PT because I kept going back to Sonar, but at some point it all started to click and I have never looked back. I haven't fired up a Sonar rig for over a year or more now. I run a small project studio using PT and am glad I paid my dues. You will come to find that sometimes that it is just simply something so small, a check box or something making all of the difference for you, but when you figure it out you will feel a little silly that it was something so small. Here is something else to throw at you, if you copy/duplicate one of the tracks from the Pro Tools with speech session can you edit that one? I wonder if maybe something is going on when you create a new track. Also, have you attempted to import an audio track into that session and try and edit that one? Perhaps I can get some time to talk to you via Face Time or something today or tomorrow and attempt some basic trouble shooting. If so then leave me your phone number or Face time information. I've worked with cakewalk sonar for years and then you think that migrating Can't be so difficult. Stupid thought... But I will still give it a try. I was very impressed by the possibility to make my own sounds in Ultra analog from Applied acoustics. In the older days on winxp when using directixer this was also possible within sonar. But now you can only do this in sonar using synth rack view. And thas is very, very lot of work. Let me ask you this, maybe create a new track with audio on it, go to a section of the track, press the down arrow and then press Shift, option, Delete at once and then the delete key and see if it clears the section from the place you pressed the down arrow to the end of the song. -Original Message- From: ptaccess@googlegroups.com [mailto:ptaccess@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Tom Hessels Sent: Wednesday, April 01, 2015 10:49 AM To: ptaccess@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: problem deleting selection Hi Slau, It still doesn't work. It becomes a bit confusing for me. I loaded the session that the protools with speech boys provides with the edit tutorial. When I make a selection in one of the tracks of this session and delete it it works fine. But when I add a new track and record something on it and then make a selection and try to delete it it doesn't work. I explore botgh tracks but can't find any difference. Do you understand whats's happening here? Make sure you have track and edit selections linked as well as the edit and timeline linked. this is under the Options menu. It sounds like you might not actually have the track selected and/or the edit selection is not actually linked to the timeline. 2. You might not have waveforms being displayed. Make sure you see the word waveform in the track view of the Edit window. Check those things for now. Hi tom, One of two things might be happening: 1. Make sure you have track and edit selections linked as well as the edit and timeline linked. this is under the Options menu. RE: problem deleting selection
Try using the delete key instead of the backspace button. problem deleting selection
Hi, I'm migrating from Sonar to Pro tools and that results in a lot of dumb questions. I.ve already learned a lot from podcasts from Kevin and pt with speech. But there's still a problem with deleting a selection. I'm selecting a peace of audio using the up and down arrow keys. When pressing the spacebar I hear the selection. But when I press the backspace nothing happens accept when hitting the spacebar I hear the audio from start point of selection to the end of the track. What am I missing?
