My mistake, Andy. It is for the 18th, and I'm premature posting the
agenda this early. Thanks for pointing this out.

Andy Heath writes:
Hi, Janina can you clarify whether this is for the 11th or the 18th please.
The last couple of weeks or so it has been 18th in conversations (and what
I put in my diary at the time of the conversations). The subject here says
18th but the body says 11th.

 ?

My hope is its 18th because that's easier for me than 11th.

IndieUI Pointers (My Action #1)

2014-07-15 Thread Janina Sajka
Colleagues:

During the Editing TF call last Friday I took an action to provide a
pointer to current IndieUI docs.

Ben Peters writes:
scribe ACTION: janina to forward URLs of IndieUI docs [recorded in

trackbot Error finding 'janina'. You can review and register nicknames at
 http://www.w3.org/2008/webapps/track/users.

So, even though Zakim didn't know much of anything last Friday, I can
still point everyone to the IndieUI publications page:

http://www.w3.org/WAI/IndieUI/#publications

That page has three documents:

1.) Our Events 1.0 current draft -- This is undoubtedly the nexus for
collaboration with the Editing TF. We have been hoping to take this
specification to Last Call late this year.

2.) Our Requirements document for the Events specification.

3.) Our FPWD of our User Context 1.0 specification.

PS: We continue very interested in working with the Editing TF and are
holding several conversations around that opportunity this week. I
expect we will have some key questions and possible approaches to lay
out in a few more days.

I'll leave it to James Craig to provide an example of what we propose to
move toward in our User Context module over the next few days. As he

 Hi Janina, All,

 I added a 30 minute slot on Monday November 11 from 13:30-14:00
(Shenzhen time). Unless I hear otherwise from you, I will assume
this slot is OK and that we will meet in WebApps' meeting room.

To help WebApps prepare for the discussion, I think it would be
helpful if you would please provide some background information. For
example, the URL of the IndieUI User Context specification, the
proposal for a new way for user agents to restrict access to
 certain groups of media resources.

On 10/31/13 3:39 PM, ext Janina Sajka wrote:
 Dear Colleagues:

The Independent User Interface Working Group (IndieUI) requests
 approximately
30 minutes of time to meet with CSS and Web Apps (jointly or separately) at
TPAC to acquaint your working groups with a new technical approach in
 IndieUI
 specifications.

The IndieUI User Context specification is moving away from a reliance on a
 new
accessor method for key/value pairs, and toward an extensive reliance on
 Media
Queries (new media features, and matchMedia) as the more appropriate
 approach
for specifying the features we need. To address privacy and fingerprinting
concerns, we will also be proposing a new way for user agents to restrict
access to certain groups of media features based on user preference. For
example, if a site referenced a media feature related to video captions
 (via
matchMedia or @media), the user agent may prompt the user to allow access
 for
the domain. We expect that significant portions of our emerging User
 Context
specification will overlap with work coordinated by the CSS or Web Apps
 Working
 Groups.

Therefore, we are requesting time with your group at TPAC to acquaint you
 with
our approach and to develop an understanding of how best we can move
 forward.
If possible, we would prefer a morning meeting time in order to more
conveniently teleconference our specification editor from North America.

 Thank you for your consideration.

Inviting your review of IndieUI Events

2013-02-01 Thread Janina Sajka
Dear HTML, Web Apps, and Pointer Events Working Groups:

As you may know, the IndieUI Working Group recently published the First
Public Working Draft of IndieUI: Events technical specification at
http://www.w3.org/TR/2013/WD-indie-ui-events-20130122/

IndieUI defines a way for different user interactions to be translated
into simple events and communicated to web applications. With IndieUI,
web application developers will have a uniform way to design
applications that work for multiple devices and contexts. For a general
introduction to IndieUI, see http://www.w3.org/WAI/intro/indieui.

We believe this work is particularly relevant to the HTML, Pointer
Events, and Web Applications Working Groups. Therefore we would like to
request review from your groups early in the development cycle, rather
than wait until Last Call. In addition to reviewing the Working Draft
itself, input on the requirements is also helpful:
http://www.w3.org/WAI/IndieUI/wiki/Use_Cases_and_Requirements.

The formal comment period on the current draft extends to 22 February
2013, but we welcome input at any time you are able to provide it. You
may send input by email to public-indie-ui-comme...@w3.org.

Thank you for your help in getting this technology off to a robust start.
