Re: [pydotorg-www] [Webmaster] bugs.python.org login not work

2019-05-29 Thread Berker Peksağ
Hello again,

Could you please try again? I've reverted my changes yesterday, so it
should be working now. Note that it might not work if you've reset
your password. I don't think the current implementation supports
merging OpenID logins with existing accounts.

Hello,

I might introduce a regression while I was working on implementing
support for GitHub login. I'll look into it tonight.

Thank you for your report!

Hi George,

Thank you for improving the Python wiki! Your changes look pretty good
to me. I have just one minor suggestion: We can now replace
"[[|Bein]]" (and others) with just "Bein" (without markup) Or we can
perhaps replace broken links with PyPI pages of those projects (e.g.
https://pypi.python.org/pypi/pyf for PyF and
https://pypi.python.org/pypi/bein/1.06 for Bein and mark them as
unmaintained)

This week's biggest task was switching from Tastypie to Django Rest
Framework. I documented detailed tasks both in the issue and the pull
request. You can play with it at https://staging.python.org/api/v2/

Main users of the API are Python release managers and they use it to
upload Python release files. I'm going to collect feedback from them
this week and hopefully deploy it next week.

Thank you for the report. I've just disabled the account. Out of

Success stories improvements

This week's biggest project was to make "Success Stories" application
usable. Most of the work has been done in
https://github.com/python/pythondotorg/pull/1099 #1099 also fixed a
previously reported issue:
https://github.com/python/pythondotorg/issues/834

After #1099, I've opened
https://github.com/python/pythondotorg/pull/1100 to fix some small
bugs introduced in the earlier PR.

Then I wrote
https://github.com/python/pythondotorg/commit/e3baa4cb3f2ff806770575980f1c96c0c297a5af
to include admin URL in emails to make review process easier.

Could you please create an issue at

We probably could easily run a one time job that deletes all inactive
users and improve the register form to ask for confirmation for the

Thanks for the report! I've now updated the link to 2.7.12.

Looking at https://wiki.python.org/moin/BeginnersGuide/Programmers?action=info,
it looks like they were in some sort of an edit race. I'd vote for
removal (you may also want to revoke pythonspot's editor access.)

Hi,

Thanks for the report! django-links is hosted on PyPI. PyPI just
displays what the module maintainer put in their setup.py file so we
can't do much here. This needs to be reported to django-links
maintainers.

Yes, using Vagrant would save you from additional troubles like
https://pythondotorg.readthedocs.io/install.html#freetype-not-found-on-osx
But if uWSGI was the only problematic step, I'd say don't waste time
with Vagrant now :)

You won't need uWSGI in development so you can safely remove or
uncomment the uWSGI line in requirements.txt.

Ideally, we should have a separate requirements.txt for
production-only dependencies, but we need to make sure that we won't
break anything in deployment process. I will try to do it this week.

Thanks!

Also our Django version is not compatible with Python 3.5. Please use
Python 3.4 as documented at

Hi Arun,

uwsgi is not needed for development so you can simply comment out the
"uWSGI==2.0.10" line in requirements.txt. It looks like this is a
known issue in uwsgi: https://github.com/unbit/uwsgi/issues/1262

If I understand correctly, the PSF wiki is a different MoinMoin
instance. For example, my username is in
https://wiki.python.org/moin/EditorsGroup, but I couldn't access the
page Frank posted.

And the process is a bit different than the public wiki. From
https://wiki.python.org/psf/:

"Please note that an account is required to log into this wiki. In
order to get access, you need to create a profile, and then write to
the wiki admins (e.g. p...@python.org) to get your user name added to
the MembersGroup page."
