[pypy-dev] Pre sprint beer session Sunday 24th of April

2011-04-11 Thread Bea During
( emailing this list since I was not allowed to post to pypy-sprint and
people don´t seem to use it?)

Hi there

Since I am travelling to Japan on the 25th of April I will miss the
Gothenburg sprint (that was not the original plan but my family had to
move our trip because of what happened there).

I still would like to meet up so I invite you to a pre sprint beer
session at Bishops Arms pub in central Gothenburg, Sunday 24th of April,
starting from 18:00.

The Bishop Arms pub is a very nice, quiet pub (library inspired but
cosy) and they have a good selection of beers and whiskey.

Here is a map: http://www.bishopsarms.com/Goteborg_Park/Presentation

This way I get to meet most of you - and drink beer!

Talk about eating the cake and having it ;-)

Cheers

Bea

p.s. Anto - will miss you there d.s

That's really too bad. Are you going to Europython?
Yes, I'm going to come for the conference and the PyPy sprint.
At least I will try to come ;-)

Just a reminder that this sprint related thread of discussion
fits better on the mailinglist we have specifically for these purposes:

Re: [pypy-dev] European sprints?

Hi there

Regarding PyPy sprints in Europe during 2011:

Also I guess it is likely that we will have another one in Düsseldorf
 later in the year.

and probably one after europython, as usual?

 ciao,
 Anto

Here is a suggestion of places and dates based on Lauras, Carl Friedrich
and Antos
input:

- Gothenburg sprint: 25th of April to 1st of May
- Europython sprint/Florence: 25th of June to 26th of June (EP2011
official sprint dates)
- Düsseldorf sprint: 22nd of August to 28th of August (fits the plan of
the funded PyJIT project which ends end August)

What do you think about these dates - would they work?

Cheers

for me they mostly work, although I might arrive one day later or depart one
day earlier for the Gothenburg and Duesseldorf ones.

 ciao,
 Anto

My main idea with these suggested dates is to be able to state that
these are our known sprint plans
so far on the PyPy blog. We need to detail them more when we get closer
and announce them
through the usual channels.

So if this would fit for Düsseldorf we should post on the blog about it.

I can also see the need to sprint longer than 2 days at EP 2011 but we
need to talk to the organizers
to see if they have facilities available (this has been an issue during
previous conferences).

 Hi Miquel,

May I point out a couple of comments about http://speed.pypy.org/ ?
The first is that it looks great, indeed; thank you very much for doing
 such a site! :-)

Yes - it looks both nice and very useful indeed!

Do we have a link from PyPys main page
http://codespeak.net/pypy/dist/pypy/doc/ to this
page so people can find it more easily?

Or did I miss that?

Cheers

Bea

The comments are mostly about the graphics in /timeline:

 * they should also display, or allow to display, the speed of CPython
   for comparison;

 * they should have a longer maximum history than 100, to see more
   clearly the long-term evolution.

All in all it looks great!

 A bientot,
 Armin.

flight search/booking instances to call Wroclaw:

- Strachowice
- Breslavia (german name for the city is Breslau)

Thanks Maciek for the help!
