[Qgis-user] Single lines for road network

2021-07-30 Per discussione krishna Ayyala
Hello,
I have a huge road network that has double lines such as below. We see such
roads mostly for express highways.
In the same road network, there are also some streets with single lines
such as below.

Is it possible to convert the entire road network such that we have only
single lines and not double lines such as above. Since the road network is
huge, it may not be possible to select manually each segment and run the
tools. Is there an automated tool that can do this for the entire network?

Regards.

A couple of warnings about GeoPDFs and Avenza:
1. Even if you upload your maps as GeoPDFs, Avenza will rasterize
the map on upload.
2. At least as of about six months ago, Avenza's rasterizer did not
correctly rasterize line pattern fills. The color was changed and
the fill was a solid fill, not a line pattern. Avenza was aware of
the problem, but didn't have a fix at the time.

[Qgis-user] Clipping WMS Layer for Export to Geo PDF

2021-07-30 Per discussione Stewart Holt
I am working on a GeoPDF map to use in the Avenza map app. It is an 80 mile
hiking trail which stair steps from SW to NE. I am using a WMTS layer as a
background. I want to avoid having the PDF as large as a rectangle
containing this trail. I created a polygon and used it to select the extent
for the map, but it did not clip the map but instead it created a
rectangular extent containing the polygon.

Next I created a larger rectangular polygon covering the area and cut out a
ring for the trail and included this layer in the map. The result was the
inclusion of all of the WMTS map layer as before with my mask layer able
to block unwanted areas. This does not reduce file size, ofcourse.

I think what that did is the correct behavior. What I need is a way to clip
the WMTS layer on the fly. I think having the export to PDF being able to
do this would be the best approach.

Can anyone think of how to accomplish this without exporting the WMTS layer
and then clipping it with a polygon?

Thanks,

Stewart

[Qgis-user] Layer actions in one clic ?

2021-07-30 Per discussione Didier Peeters
Dear QGIS users,

I have been using actions in QGIS for years and I find them very useful and
much easier to create than plugins. As a reminder, they can have 4 different
scopes, which are 'Field', 'Feature', 'Layer' and 'Canvas'.

However, there is one thing I don't understand: when choosing 'Canvas', it is
always necessary to click on an layer element after choosing the action to be
used in the attributes toolbar (with the action button - the little wheel). Why
is this? Wouldn't it be easier to immediately trigger an action by clicking on
its name in the toolbar?
In particular, I have defined a Python action that fetches a file containing
data to be imported into a database, with no specific link to a particular
entity.

So, have I misunderstood the use of the action? Am I missing something?

Or maybe better, would it be possible to have actions not related to any layer ?
