GDAL offers stuff (esp. feature styling, block handling, labeling) that QGIS does not use. As DXF support is improved in QGIS there may be improvements/fixes in GDAL as well. Hi all, I wonder how to (easily) produce an overview map showing the extents of 26 single Maps (in german: Blattschnittübersicht). Right now I can only think of saving the individual x/y min and x/ymax coordinates of the map extends shown in the map composer in order to manually digitize my map bounding boxes (portrait/landscape). Is this it or am I missing something? For rasterfiles there is a gdal command which creates a shapefile for a directory full of rasterfiles. You then can load that shapefile to see all extents. If you are talking about topo maps with regular extend in parts of lat/lon degrees, you can easily set up a vector raster from Vector - Reserch tools. Otherwise the gdaltindex would be best suited. [Qgis-user] Producing nice map layouts and compositions
Hi I'm familiar with OSGEO software but possibly not much on doing maps printouts and compositions such as the ones I found here( http://www.capfida.mg/km/site_spip/IMG/zip/Trial2-Maps-EN-2.zip). Life gets a lot easier with the newer Garmin 62 series: If you plug your USB cable between the unit and your computer, the unit shows up as yet another mounted memory device (at least in MacOS X). You can just copy the GPX files to wherever you want them on your computer. Dear all I have a set of field surveyed data for a species, and the data are triangulation-based such as utm for each reading, and azimute (bean), and at least three reading for each species position on space and time. I knwow that if I have utmx and y I can use AniMove, also adehabitat family within R, but unfortunatelly it is not the case. Hi, I received two replies, one suggesting it might be the spaces in the file names and another to convert all files to GeoTIFF before using the calculator. After some more tests, it seems that the spaces were the problem. And these were spaces in the layer names, not the actual file names, which had no spaces in them.
