[Qgis-user] shape to wfs

2014-07-24 Thread Simo Turunen
I need to publish shp-files in web-based map. (not QGIS-based). For that I
need to give my shapefiles in WMS 1.1.1 1.3.0 or WMTS 1.0.0 or WFS
1.1.0. How it can be done if I use QGIS 2.0?

Hi Simo,

For publishing shape files as WMS, WMTS or WFS you need a server - no
way to do it with QGIS desktop.

You can use QGIS server to do it, or UMN Mapserver or Geoserver. If you
go with QGIS server, you can use the QGIS server tutorial (Google for it
to find it quickly). If you use one of the other server you have use the
other servers documentations or mailinglist.

[Qgis-user] problem with reshape features tool in epsg_4326 (wgs84)

2014-07-24 Thread ralfwessels
Hi,

I'm using QGIS 2.4 (Standalone installer) on Win 7 (64bit)

When I was editing polygons and used the reshape tool I always got the error
message unknown exception. I tested this with other polygon shapes and
PostGIS-Layers and figured out, that the error only shows up, when I tried
to edit features stored in srid 4326.
The reshape tool works fine with features in other srids like 3857 or
25833(german srid).
Can someone reproduce this problem/bug?

[Qgis-user] Transparency in ellipse marker symbol layer

2014-07-24 Thread Thomas Obel
Hey QGIS users,

I'm using QGIS 1.8. My current problem is, that I want to constitute a point as

Does anybody got an idea to solve this problem? I think it's possible to deal
with this problem in a newer version of QGIS, but I'm not allowed to upgrade it
at my working place.

2014-07-24 Thread Andreas Neumann
Hi,

I have no idea what was possible with version 1.8. You are right, in a
newer QGIS release this is certainly possible. Why can't you upgrade or
do the project on a laptop of your own?

If you can't make it to work with the ellipse marker you may try using
an SVG marker. You can create the SVG either by hand in a text editor or
with Inkscape or Adobe Illustrator. In SVG anything can be partially or
fully transparent.

Good luck,
Andreas

[Qgis-user] Blocking issue with tilted huge images

2014-07-24 Thread TAS-QI
Hi,

we are trying to work around what looks like a bug regarding big images
(TIFF 3x3) that are georeferenced with a world file. When trying to
load such an image, QGIS (tested with 1.8 and 2.x) just freezes.
Investigation shows this occurs only when the World file contains a rotation
(is it trying to resample the complete image at loading time?). Manual
edition of the World file to remove the rotation leads to smooth loading of
the image.

Can somebody help or suggest further tests?

Thanks a lot,

Stéphane.

[Qgis-user] Qgis server returns map from another project, that is defined in URL

2014-07-24 Thread Jan Michálek
Have a nice day
I have problem with qgis server (2.2). I have a few projects in my folders
and qgis doesn't use project specify in my url.

For example i had folder called
projects
with two files. red.qgs a green.qgs with the same layer (from postgis), but
with differenet symbology (fill color).

i use for first time url like this
http://nejakejservr.cz/cgi-bin/qgis_mapserv.fcgi?MAP=/mnt/data/projects/red.qgsREQUEST=GetMapBBOX=-615170.147011,-1003827.798116,-614613.882202,-1003027.916641CRS=EPSG:5514WIDTH=400HEIGHT=300LAYERS=testSTYLES=,,FORMAT=image/pngDPI=96

And I obtain red filled polygons (as is specified in red.qgs project).

If i use this.

http://nejakejservr.cz/cgi-bin/qgis_mapserv.fcgi?MAP=/mnt/data/projects/green.qgsREQUEST=GetMapBBOX=-615170.147011,-1003827.798116,-614613.882202,-1003027.916641CRS=EPSG:5514WIDTH=400HEIGHT=300LAYERS=testSTYLES=,,FORMAT=image/pngDPI=96

I should obtain layer from green.qgs project, but i obtain red filled
polygons from project i had use before.

I had use qgis (2.4) on my desktop for this wms, but with the same problem.
I get lazers from first used project.

Why?

How I can change this?

Hi Even,

Thanks a lot for the quick response - I really appreciate your work in
dealing with the GDB files!

That sounds great! Let me know if you need more data examples and such.

Just a quick question - .gdb is not typically forward and backward
compatible across Arc versions, right? [I've definitely had .gdb files that
don't work in QGIS, while some do, so I have assumed that it was due to
versioning issues - is that right? Or should I be doing some
trouble-shooting?]

Thanks again, and best regards,

Re: [Qgis-user] Opening Raster from ESRI .GDB

2014-07-24 Thread Alex Mandel
Sorta, there are 2 drivers for GDB. The open GDB that Even has been
working on and the official ESRI GDB api.

The ESRI GDB api and Arc instance are not backwards compatible, once you
upgrade a gdb to the latest it only works with the latest and there's
often no way to write an older variant.

The open GDB driver I think allows you to read any version and write
older versions if you need to without auto-upgrading.

Back to your original question does the ESRI gdb driver work for you use
case for now? On windows I think you can get it with OSGeo4w on Linux
you need to download the SDK from ESRI and recompile GDAL - but I don't
know if this is vector and raster or just vector.

Thanks,
Alex

That sounds great! Let me know if you need more data examples and such.

Just a quick question - .gdb is not typically forward and backward
compatible across Arc versions, right? [I've definitely had .gdb files that
don't work in QGIS, while some do, so I have assumed that it was due to
versioning issues - is that right? Or should I be doing some
 trouble-shooting?]

[Qgis-user] Trouble starting Qgis 2.4 (and 1.8) on SuSE 12.3 after the 21.07 upgrade of Qgis 2.4 on GEO repository

2014-07-24 Thread Lars Forseth
Hi!

Am any others having trouble starting Qgis on Suse 12.3? I use Suses GEO
repository, and after the 21.07 uppgrade I am unable to start Qgis.

The following error messages come when I try to start the application at
the commandline:

Only reading. Writing hasn't been implemented although we probably have almost

ESRI FileGDB SDK only supports vector too. So no closed-source or open-source
solutions for raster yet.

I believe that you meant that the ESRI FileGDB driver can only read files
created by ArcGIS 10.0 or higher. Their driver does not work for 9.x files
if I remember correctly.

The ESRI GDB api and Arc instance are not backwards compatible, once you

often no way to write an older variant.

The ESRI FileGDB SDK can only read gdb that have been created by ArcGIS
 9.X.
The OpenFileGDB driver can (well, at least on all available samples I have
worked on). See http://gdal.org/drv_openfilegdb.html for a comparison of
 both
 drivers

The open GDB driver I think allows you to read any version and write
older versions if you need to without auto-upgrading.

Only reading. Writing hasn't been implemented although we probably have
 almost
everything needed to implement it one day.

Back to your original question does the ESRI gdb driver work for you use
case for now? On windows I think you can get it with OSGeo4w on Linux
you need to download the SDK from ESRI and recompile GDAL -

Latest OSGeo4W must have GDAL 1.11, so you won't need recompiling anything.
Check with ogrinfo --formats if OpenFileGDB shows in the list.

  but I don't
know if this is vector and raster or just vector.

ESRI FileGDB SDK only supports vector too. So no closed-source or
 open-source
 solutions for raster yet.

Re: [Qgis-user] Opening Raster from ESRI .GDB

2014-07-24 Thread Michael Treglia
Even and Alex,

Thanks! That definitely clarifies some things.

I just tried two GDB files with ESRI FileGDB and OpenFileGDB in QGIS. One
.gdb file worked fine with both ESRI FileGDB and OpenFileGDB. The other
didn't work with either. I don't know what Arc version the latter was
created in or anything, but I can try and find out and get back to you in
the future.

Best regards,
Mike
