Re: [Qgis-user] Google Layers proxy
2010/9/23 Maurício de Paulo mauricio@gmail.com: Hi, I'm currently using google layers behind a proxy network that requires user authentication. Many QGIS' plugins already connect through authenticated proxies but googleLayers can't. I've looked at the code and found out that the urllib use doesn't support authenticated proxies. I've also found out that urllib2 supports. I'd be glad if the dev could change the used library. I've made a few tests and the proxyhandler class of the urllib2 can handle the authentication but it would need to be read from qgis' settings. As far as a workaround I've told the proxy to ignore mt*.google.com and maps.google.com to make the plugin work throught the proxy. Best regards, Mauricio Hi Mauricio, can You provide a patch ? Just few weeks ago I have discussed with Martin about PostGIS-only metadata support in PostGIS Manager. He said, that the problem is, that everybody is dealing with metadata differently, I can just agree with. Maybe in case of PostGIS, it would be fine, if some basic metadata storing model would be included in package. At least 4-5 existing plugins do something along the lines, partially overlapping: the plugins listed below plus the Postgis manager plugin. One would have to join efforts of the various plugin authors to create something more generally usable and compatible. - use the overview map widget to view the data (vector and raster) - evis plugin for other data such as geocoded photos, non-geocoded paper maps, poster maps, etc. - metadata plugin for metadata viewing or a new widget to design the graphical forms from a shapefile index attribute table Andreas signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part. ___ Qgis-user mailing list Qgis-user@lists.osgeo.org http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/qgis-user
