Dear QGIS users and devs,

we did a progress with our new generation of GIS.lab Web client built on top
of QGIS Server. There where a few WFS service problems, which caused switch to
QGIS master and slight delay on schedule, but I really hope that until the end
of the next week we would be able to show something (including proposal of
mobile friendly UI, WFS filtering and other features).

GitHub repository has been moved [1].

BTW, is there anybody going to attend FOSSDEM at the end of the month ?

[Qgis-user] WFS server responses validity

Hi all,
recently we have discovered that WFS responses produced by QGIS Mapserver are
not valid. Currently I am fighting with missing 'Keywords' element which is
crashing owslib [1], but when trying to validate response with 'xmllint',
there are few more problems:

Example:

$ wget
"http://localhost:8090/cgi-bin/qgis_mapserv.fcgi?REQUEST=GetCapabilities=WFS;
- -O capabilities.xml

$ xmllint --schema WFS-capabilities.xsd capabilities.xml  --noout
capabilities.xml:8: element KeywordList: Schemas validity error : Element
'{http://www.opengis.net/wfs}KeywordList': This element is not expected.
Expected is one of ( {http://www.opengis.net/wfs}Keywords,
{http://www.opengis.net/wfs}OnlineResource ).
capabilities.xml:68: element GML3: Schemas validity error : Element
'{http://www.opengis.net/wfs}GML3': This element is not expected. Expected is
( {http://www.opengis.net/wfs}GML2 ).
capabilities.xml:91: element FeatureTypeList: Schemas validity error : Element

QGIS: 2.8.4

What is wrong ?

Dear Andreas and others,
yes please, in January we will have documentation, development environment
with Vagrant deployment and I hope there will be also some first UI
implementation. Than I would start demo application and will be very happy to
receive feedback from QGIS community. We will take it to account as much as
possible.

Of course, there is possibility to see the code now [1], but it is in very
early stage (UI will be changed completely). But any questions and feedback is
very much welcome.

Hi Vincent,
the web and mobile clients + QGIS plugin are already working, code is here
[1], but we are currently in the state of cleanup and creating documentation.
Everything should be ready to test until Christmas. There is one developer
working full time and few contributors.

Andreas, thank you very much for your response.
Our project will fulfill your hard requirements and will be ready to use in
early 2016. It is already financially backed by myself and my business partner
(as other parts of GIS.lab project) as kind of response to FOSS4G community
after closing one period of my life with making business on top of FOSS4G
software. If your initiative would come few months earlier, I would definitely
join.

Of course we can apply for this job and win it with already finished product,
but it doesn't make a sense and also it isn't our goal :). I would rather
discuss the requirements and try to adjust our development to be more suitable
to build on top of it.

Dear Andreas,
as you might know, GIS tools of GIS.lab [1][2] are based on QGIS Desktop and
Server. Until now, we had our web interface [3] also built with GeoExt and
ExtJS.

Few months ago, we have decided to start with development of new generation of
our web and mobile clients with modern technologies like OpenLayers 3, Django,
Angular, Cordova ... - license GNU GPL 3 [4]. We have decided to develop it as
separate project usable with or without GIS.lab.
In January 2016, we would have some usable versions of web and mobile
applications + QGIS plugin. Actually, our original plan was to offer it to the
community as new generation of QGIS Web Client :).

Our goals are to use GIS.lab for education and we could easily adapt our plans
according user's needs. It would be excellent if we would be able to join our
forces. I would be very happy to discuss if with you !

Hi all,
I would like to ask what is the license of QGIS Web App Builder plugin
developed by Boundless ?

I am a developer of GIS.lab [1] system. We are currently in state,
when discussing if to continue with development of our own web
publishing framework or rather join and contribute to some existing
one. Few months ago, I was reading information that QGIS Web App
Builder plugin will be available in official QGIS plugins repository.
What is the current state ?

Thank you.

The labeling unit tests use qgis_local_server.py [0] to auto-launch and
control a lighttpd/spawn-fcgi configuration [1] of independent processes.
You can see the parameters passed to the start/stop/restart shell scripts

 one if you can).

Note: this is a local-only setup, merely to save PNGs of server output to

means secure, or robust; but, it is a working setup from which you can
start. Also, it uses very minimal resources.

Good luck, and please contribute any working configs you come up with for
a production setup, so they can be included in the Server Tutorial.

I am planning on adding a lighttpd/spawn-fgi and Nginx/(spawn-fgi or
uWSGI) setup configs section for the Server Tutorial, just not sure when.

Hi Andrea and Bernard,
just yesterday I was checking if GetProjectSettings returns 'alias' field
defined for attribute field and it was not there.

Now I was testing GetFeatureInfo response in GML and XML. XML returns alias,
but GML not.

In the very near future we are planning to propose a patch which adds many new
informations about project and layers in GetProjectSettings.

Hi, it would be better to place this conversation to separate thread.

You can look at GIS.lab [1][2][3] project which provides automatic
creation of complete GIS server and client environments by one
command. It also provides automatically created web application for
each user saved QGIS project. No configuration needed.

Feel free to ask any questions.

Thanks Andreas, but as I remember there was some better docs or tutorial

For the future reference, I have found that CAD Console in 1.8 suffers
from the same bug as Python Console, that it freezes until one space

Do You know that You can use 'gdalbuildvrt' command to create virtual

Than files matching your viewport will be automatically loaded by

Last time I went to 'G_realloc error' issue on 32bit Linux, I did not

In Your case, You can split shapefile to smaller pieces.

Nathan, thanks for Your proposal, I like it too.

I have one note to current 'Show selected only' check box behavior.
Currently, when enabled, it does not take to account updates in list of
searched records.

Example:
1. Open attribute table
2. Enable 'Show selected only'
3. Search for some record
4. Attribute table is empty until re-enabling 'Show selected only' or
pressing 'Move selection to top'

For a long time I am not sure if it is bug or feature. May it can be
fixed/changed when implementing Your work.

it would need to be read from qgis' settings.

As far as a workaround I've told the proxy to ignore mt*.google.com and

I also think that many components for a catalogue browser and viewer are
already existing. At least 4-5 existing plugins do something along the
lines, partially overlapping: the plugins listed below plus the Postgis
manager plugin. One would have to join efforts of the various plugin
authors to create something more generally usable and compatible.

  - use the overview map widget to view the data (vector and raster)
  - evis plugin for other data such as geocoded photos, non-geocoded

  - metadata plugin for metadata viewing or a new widget to design the

[Qgis-user] Can't compile current trunk - revision 11737

2009-09-30 Thread Ivan Mincik
I am trying to compile Debian package from current trunk version of
QGIS, revision 11737. All dependencies installed. Since now I didn't
have any problems to compile.
There was similar looking problem at the past, but according to Trac,
it should be fixed - https://trac.osgeo.org/qgis/ticket/1271 . I am
not sure if it is my problem or some problem suitable for bug tracker.
Any ideas ?

OS: Debian Lenny, x86, KDE
Compiling with: dpkg-buildpackage or debuild -us -uc
