[Qgis-user] Drone in agriculture

Hello,

I am the beginner user of Yuneec Typhoon q500 4K.

I am before national exam in Poland.

I will use the drone for taking photos in agriculture especially for
estimating damages done by hunting animals or overwintering of the crops and
of course damages done by hail, heavy rain, hurricane and spring frost.

This documentation will be given to insurance company as a proof of damages
in case of paying compensation.

My question is - on what height AGL should I fly my drone to take good
photos which I can later add to qgis as a raster and georeference and
digitize it?

I only know that photos should be taken in nadir position (camera straight
down).

The drone has CGO3 camera equipped with 12mpixels.

I appreciate any help

I reinstalled with new package installer and it works now. I need to test
for some time and I will let You know if the problem occured again.

I had redownoladed and reinstalled 2.16.2 and unfortunately the problem
occured again.
For me the only stable version right now is 2.12 Lyon.

Yes Nyall, this is on 32b Windows 7. ArcGIS 10.3.1 is working without any
problems.

Hi Nicolas,

I uninstalled 2.14 and 2.16 and installaed 2.12 Lyon and all worked
perfectly fine.
I can clip raster, make contours and the hillshade.

I think I need to stay for some time on 2.12 before getting to higher
version of qGIS.

But I still don't know what cause the problem.

Hi Nicolas,

In fact that's the only layer loaded to the project. I checked also when
trying to clip the raster it crashes again and I cannot even create
contours from clipped raster because it says the gdal_contour doesnt work.

And the most funny thing is that I loaded the same raster to arcgis desktop
and it worked at first time, I even create contours and then a tin from
them.

I wonder what is causing the problem.

I checked at the other project. I loaded cataster data from wms and I
create parcels.shp to digitize the data from wms. Everything works fine
until...until I loaded a raster to the project.

I did uninstall twice and installed clean 2.16 and...the problem returned.

Why it worked on arcgis and why wont work on qgis?

In Qgis 2.12, I can crash it if I have to many file with different
projections across a big territory (Canada).
Turn off all layers, change the project CRS to the layer you are having
trouble with, then zoom to the layer
extent, then turn the layer back on.  That may... Or may not help..
