[Qgis-user] Opening gdb files
Hi List, I cannot open gdb files, using QGIS 1.8.9 GDAL/OGR 1.9.2 on windows Vista sp2. According to the post: http://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/26285/how-to-get-gdb-esri-file-geodatabase-support-in-quantum-gis-osgeo4w-qgis;, the gdal-filegdb pack should have put a FileGDBAPI.dll file at c:\OSGeo4W\bin, but I don't find it. I only find the ogr_FileGDB.dll file at c:\OSGeo4W\bin\gdalplugins. Any hint? (the gdb files are CCM2 data downloadable at http://ccm.jrc.it (instant access after registration)) Thanks for any response and for this very interesting user's list, Paul ___ Qgis-user mailing list Qgis-user@lists.osgeo.org http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/qgis-user

Hi List, Completing my previous post: - I downloaded the FileGDBAPI.dll file at http://trac.assembla.com/dnrgps/browser/trunk/dnrgps/GDAL/bin/FileGDBAPI.dll?rev=20 The filetype ESRI FileGDB is now displayed in the add vector module. But I still get the message xxx.gdb is not a valid or recognized data source. - reinstalling the gdal-filegdb pack doesn't change anything. Re: [Qgis-user] Opening gdb files
I used Add vector layer Directory The source type is then set to ESRI FileGDB. I browse then to the dataset which is a xxx.gdb directory. I don't know if this can interfere but the bitdefender's Active Virus Control blocked an upgrade with OSGeo4W. I had to signal osgeo4w-setuup-work.exe as trusted. After a reboot, Qgis seems to word fine. Le 5/02/2013 22:03, Brad Nesom a écrit : Did you choose add vector data, folder? then browse to the folder.gdb. Re: [Qgis-user] Opening gdb files
The webpage doesn't tell the version. But I see the latest version of the data (CCM2.1) dates back to July 2008. It should then still be version 9. That could be the reason why iI get the error message. I'll send them a mail. Thanks a lot for your mails. Le 5/02/2013 22:16, David Fawcett a écrit : What is the version of the .fgb? Re: [Qgis-user] Opening gdb files
Hi Jürgen, Thanks for your answer. This means that the ESRI API is absolutely necessary. Moreover, if I don't misunderstand it, it needs to be built, using Visual Studio. Seems at first sight very complicated. In any case, I sent an e-mail to the data provider, asking him to provide these data in a less closed format, such as a shapefile. Yes, if the SDK license would clearly state, that it's ok to redistribute that DLL, things would be easier (see the discussion in the tickets on the page). Jürgen Le 5/02/2013 23:06, Jürgen E.
