Re: [Ql-Users] (Another) Question - Is it possible to save the QPC state?

2009-10-14 Thread Martyn Hill

Hello again

Thanks for that - I might therefore go back to running QPC in MS Virtual
PC, as Wolfgang suggested.

Only trouble is that I found QPC a little unstable in that VM. Actually,
most any emulator in MS VPC seemed to go funny.

While I'm at it, I was also wondering whether anyone knew if QPC can
be made to save the QL environment before closing so that one could
start-up where one left off?

I know QPC copes well if I place my laptop to sleep, but it would be
helpful to be able to save the entire emulated environment so that I
could nip in and out without a complete QL restart...

I should probably send this directly to Marcel, but see that he reads
this list...

The only way I can think of, would be to start a small windows in
a virtual machine, running only QPC, and save/load snapshots of it.

This is indeed a practical question. I use 'hibernate' on my laptop to
keep the QL going. Unfortunately, sometimes, as happened last night,
one of the FATAL windows' errors occurred and hibernation became
restart. So I lost what I was doing.

That was always something I wanted to have, but it's actually very
difficult to do properly so I've never implemented it.

Yeah, a lot of work went into that one already, earlier versions
didn't cope quite that well.
