We did have an article from Norman last time that we did not use because we
had run out of space. We had room left for just one article and gave
priority to Ian Burkinshaw on the grounds that there was already assembler
in the magazine, but no hardware.

Fortunately we knew that both Ian and Norman would understand,

Best wishes,

Geoff

PS Norman don't worry about your secrets getting out. These days it's too
dodgy for we media types to hack into your mobile. Damn, there goes my
Quanta moles!

Evening Geoff,

I believe you already have something from me that was held over from the
last issue? I certainly hope so.

Perhaps as a news item you might like to note the following:

Both George Gwilt and myself - but mostly George - have been updating
http://qdosmsq.dunbar-it.co.uk with lots of information on the internals
of QDOS and more especially, the Pointer Environment.

Huge thanks are due to George who seems to have unlimited time for
adding information to my web site.

Cheers,
Norm.

Just a reminder that the deadline for the next issue of QL Today is next
Tuesday 15th November. We want to keep to schedule this time so all readers get
the magazine before Christmas.

Fortunately we have had several early contributions, but not yet enough for a
complete magazine. Also as it has been so quiet on the QL front in the last
couple of months I am anticipating a short news section.

On the positive side, from the material we already have plus one promised
contribution, it looks like being an issue with a good variety of articles,

Best wishes,

Hi Geoff,

I know some of our readers have only had their QL Today for just over a week,
 but
the deadline for issue 2 is next Sunday 16th November.
Ha! I'm not worried this time because I know I've sent you two articles!
So I refuse to panic this time.

... and the start of a new series although I am not revealing the content.
Intriguing . I wonder what it will be.

We hope that the late arrival of issue 1 will not prevent you writing for
 issue 2,
No, it didn't. As I said before, the late arrival of Issue 1 means a
shorter wait for issue 2! :-)

Cheers,
Norman.

1. Geoff's Jokes
2. Geoff Qomments On Quanta
3. Other suggestions anyone

Actually Dilwyn I can now reveal the purpose of the clones. Once I have
twenty of me I can call for a Special General Meeting on a frivolous motion,
probably that the officers should end their 3 year period of office by being
rolled naked in a bed of nettles. It would cost me £500, but be worth it.
(;-o)

On second thoughts probably not. In the last year I have been approached by
two people - both with close connections to Quanta's High Command - to
enquire about my standing as chairman,

Best Wishes,

Geoff

usual behind the scenes but not promoting it as there are long delays in
anything I do QLwise. Actually it will probably not reduce my workload

You are part of the sombre news, although you are not leaving the QL
community. There will be a tribute to and a potted history of TF Services.

Another is John Mason's last Quanta Magazine editorial that members have not
responded to Quanta's pleas for new committee members. (Should there now be
better news, please let us know Quanta committee.) There are also one or two
more minor stories that are a bit negative.

What I am a little concerned about is that we could recreate some of the
atmosphere in the first half of the 1990s when DJ Software closed down
followed a year later by QL World. The screams that we heard then The end
of the QL is nigh were more than a little premature.

In fact there is still a lot happening on the QL scene and we need to
publicise this. It's just that we need to be flexible in thinking of the
future, just as we had to be flexible to survive the early 90s.

I am afraid I cannot lighten the scene. I am having to stop any active
QL work (and adverts) as I am far too busy. I will still be doing the

Fully understood. In fact we have spoken about this situation many times at
shows. Your contribution has been much appreciated and has been far wider
that just TF Services,

Whoops - I forgot to reply privately.

I am certainly not disappearing, but am simply recognising reality. I
have had a few orders in the last few months, but have taken a long time
to fulfill them. I think it fair not to advertise my lack of service (8-)#
