I wonder whether the probem may be that Fred used some library
routines that he would be legally entitled to use in his own
programs,

but which were not his copyright and thus he cannot release the code.
Not sure whether or not this would affect releasing the file
formatting though.

Another thing that fascinates me is the compression routine for QTYP.
Did TT use a standard routine? The reason is that the dictionaries
page on my website has taken off with over 1,000 hits in the last
quarter and it now comes high on the search engines. Most people are
downloading the QTYP versions which indicates to me they are usable
in

other programs.

Nice to know that work you did for the QL years ago is still
relevant,

Best Wishes,

Updated again today.

There's a new tool to extract all known keywords. Not much use I admit, but I
needed it myself.

QPC commands have now been added based on Marcel's manual version 4.02 based on
QPC 4.04.

Enjoy.

It's located on the Atmel web site. The direct link to the PDF data

You can use the Arduino software to program the '85 but you'll need some
additional board info files installing as per

- scroll down to the section on AtTiny85 Devices for the details.

Rich's original announcement did mention the ability to download it on his
webpage at www.rwapsoftware.co.uk/SBASIC_reference_manual_online where it
mentions being able to download PDF, HTML or Epub versions.

For context, re file sizes, my PDF for the Atmel AtTiny85 micro-controller
is 234 pages and 3.8 Mb in size. The SuperBASIC Manual in PDF is
currently, as of November 4th, 944 pages and is only 2.2 Mb in size.
That's not bad for 4 times the number of pages at 0.57 times the size. ;-)

But, it will be getting bigger ..

Evening Marcel,

When I have time, unless anyone else does it first, I'll see if I can
add in your other QPC commands and maybe the ones from Smsqemulator as
recently updated by Wolfgang.

Lunch hours are few and far between right now a I have a huge
migration of an Oracle system from Solaris to "the cloud" as my raisin

I suppose I better do a "how to" just on the off chance that anyone is
interested in updating the manual!

And I had noticed your links on QLForum too! I was glad to see good
use being made of my hard work, but obviously huge thanks must be
directed at Rich for the original work. I'm merely taking the glory
for the work of others!

The SBASIC/SuperBASIC Reference Manual was of course a huge project -
whilst there were originally 3 of us involved in writing it (myself,
Franz Hermann and Peter Jaeger), I took on the mantel before its
original publication, and it was then published in 2 large A4 ring
binders, over 1500 pages in total; but released in that format to make
it possible to issue updates.

We released 4 updates to the original over the years, and then it was
converted to PDF and sold on CD-ROM, but I ran out of time and resources
to do any more updates to the manual, so there are probably a lot of
commands and information which could still be added (for example,
changes to SMSQ/e since about 2010).

The conversion to HTML format as a community project which could be
easily updated by all then made the next sensible step, but with the
manual written in Text87 format, this required a lot of re-formatting,
which has now been done to a very high standard, thanks to tools
originally written by myself and (Geoff Wicks I seem to recall), and
then improved on by Norman to whom I am very much grateful.

Now is the time for everyone else to start updating and contributing to
the manual to keep it current and ensure that it remains the must have
reference to SuperBASIC programming knowledge.

Good work, Norman. In the short time it has been online, I've linked
at least 3 times to it. Of course you all will hear from my lawyer
with a cease and desist for describing all my CD_ command and then an
anti-competitive complaint because the other QPC commands aren't
included :-D

No really, much appreciated. Reading the foreword I see that Rich
already had put up a HTML version before, but that somehow didn't
really register with me. So anyway, thanks to everyone involved.

has been updated to correct a few minor formatting problems with the
introductory chapters and the appendices, well, some of them.

I've also added in the descriptions of all the routines to be found in
the truly wonderful DJToolkit (version 1.16) which Dilwyn probably
thinks is the best QL toolkit of all time. ;-)

Enjoy.

Just in time for the RWAP Software 30th Anniversary too?
