Dear all,

I am using qmail 1.03-30 on redhat 6.2 box and its working very very fine.
I am facing a problem while adding a new alias.
I want to create a alias by the name lokeshkhanna ( sign ) but when i am
running touch .qmail-lokeshkhanna its giving below message

[1] 16495
bash: khanna: command not found

I think its not allowing me to add a user whose username is having ( and
sign )

Is there any way by which i can add this user ?

off topic

2001-08-13 Thread Wolfgang Pichler

Hi
It's a little bit off topic, but does anywhere know which ports to open on
my firewall so that qmail works correctly. At the moment I've opend dns, smtp
and pop3 but when i activate the firewall some messages can't be delivered
(wasn't able to establish an smtp connection), but when i try to telnet to
the specified rcpt-server everything works really fine. So what happend here
? (if i open the firewall for everything, then the messages are leaving the
queue)

OS: Linux 2.4.4-smp with iptables v 1.2.1a
with rcpt-server i mean the mean the highest prior MX server from the dns
server.
I have no mail server in DMZ
I've used the following rule:
iptables -A OUTPUT -p tcp --dport smtp -s myip -j -m state --state
NEW,ESTABLISHED ACCEPT

25 outbound if you only want to send e-mail to external sites. 25
inbound as well if you have a mail server in a DMZ.

Log entries? Kernel details? OS even? There is a big diff between
Linux and FreeBSD. Hec, there is a big diff between Linux v2.0, v2.2
and v2.4 firewalling. How are we meant to help you if we don't even
know the foundation?

rcpt-server = really crazy parrot tarot-server? What do you mean,
rcpt-server? Do you mean the remote MX?

So what happend here ? (if i open the firewall for everything, then

Nice... I think it's probably safer you leave the firewall
open. Really.

queue is getting larger

2001-08-10 Thread Wolfgang Pichler

Hi
i've installed qmail on my SuSE 7.2 running nearly perfectly. Nearly
because of one problem: My queue gets larger and larger, the problem is that
qmail-send - qmail-remote waits really long (about 1 day in some cases) to
start delivery for some messages. (Only some recipent mail servers). I
really don't know on what qmail-remote fails (if i telnet to this mail
servers on port 25 everthing works really fine). I need something that
processes immediadtly all messages in the queue - else i will get realy big
problems. QMail is running supervised and qmail-tcpok + svc -a qmail-send
doesn't send all messages in the queue.
Can anyone help ? (hope this message will be deliverd in the next few hours)

AW: log files

2001-08-10 Thread Wolfgang Pichler

hi
the qmail-send/run only executes the /var/qmail/rc script (so its nearly the
same). And at the first time I havn't had the multilog command in
/var/qmail/run, i've then added it because the log doesn't worked for me.
And it still doesn't work.

 /usr/local/bin/multilog /var/log/qmail/qmail-send

 my qmail-send/log/run file:

 #!/bin/sh

 /var/log/qmail/qmail-send

Your qmail-send rc? Do you mean /service/qmail-send/run or
/var/qmail/rc? In any case, you can't have multilog in that script plus
a log/run script and still make sense.

How to flush the queue

2001-08-09 Thread Wolfgang Pichler

Hi
I am running qmail with the use of the supervise scripts and like to flush
the queue immediately. First of all if reseted the Connection Timeout Table
with qmail-tcpok, after that i've sended the ALARM SIGNAL (with svc -a
qmail-send) to qmail-send. But it doesn't started to send all remote
messages in the que. Why ?
