[qmailadmin] Qmailadmin: check if password is strong enough

2014-11-01 Thread Nikolay Mitev
Hi Team,

I need a little help on the restriction on the implementation and change
password qmailadmin-1.2.16-0.el6.x86_64. I tried this patch (
http://mugurel.sumanariu.ro/qmail/qmailadmin-check-if-password-is-strong-enough/)
no problems during the build and installation but then does not work for
password protection, I can change the password by typing only two
characters.

Best regards,
Nikolay

[qmailadmin] unable to login

2014-10-19 Thread francis drake
Hi all,

After more than 10 years my qmail, vpopmail, and qmailadmin setup died
catastrophicly. qmailadmin was the core part of administering everything.

I now have a new install of that setup. Mail delivery works and I can retrieve
email from the postmaster and user accounts.

However, loggin into qmailadmin's postmaster account using
   postmaster
   my.domain
   password
results in Invalid Login. I also tried postmaster@my.domain but that
doesn't work either.

I reinstalled both vpopmail and qmailadmin but that didn't fix the problem.
Also tried both 1.2.15 and 1.2.16.

I checked the mail archives and even poked around in qmailadmin.c but am pretty
lost when it comes to c programming.

The o/s is fedora 20.

Any help with this will be greatly appreciated, especially tips on how to debug
this situation (didn't have much luck trying various printf instructions in the
source).

Looking forward to hearing from you,
Mike Wright

Based on the info given my best guess would be that you do not have

It's a .gz install. I'm using daemontools and checked all the qmail logs. I'm

If you have the compile directory from the old setup, I would look at
'config.log' for the configure script arguments.

Maybe you can post your configure command for the current qmailadmin

informative.  Anything in /var/log/maillog ?

Hi Bob,

qmailadmin's cgi perms are 89:89. Your idea that apache is not using the right
perms sounds like the right direction. I don't remember having to setup suid
stuff in apache before but that was a long time ago. I'll get into the apache
manual.

Checking the apache logs does show an error whenever I try logging in but the
error seems screwy: Domain theorb.net was not found in the assign file

You should always copy and paste the exact data.

vpopmail user not found is different than vpopmail: user not found

It would speed up getting a meaningful/helpful reply if you provided
relevant (and accurate) info, like snippets from logs, your 'configure'
arguments, etc.

[qmailadmin] [SPAM] autoresponder don't replaces header

2014-04-17 Thread Daniel Hauck
Hey there,

I got a mailserver running with qmail 1.06 and vpopmail 5.4.33.

For administration we use qmailadmin 1.2.1 with autorespond 2.0.2

Now we got the problem if I configure an autoresponder with qmailadmin,
there's one line too much.

So the header isn't overwritten and the header part is in the message like:

From: f...@bar.tld
Subject: Something

Message ... ... ..

I can't figure out, where the newline is coming from, I read the c source,
but I'm not able to find it.

Thanks in advance!

Best regards, Daniel

You might need to recompile vpopmail and install that without the install-strip
option, since qmailadmin statically links libvpopmail (IIRC).

I misspoke. There was one problem, a bug I fixed and reported on the
vpopmail list about 3 months ago. Here's a snip:

q
I've had a look at the code, and found that the config.h file, which
defines CATCHALL_ENABLED, is not being included in the command.c file.
I'm not sure when or why that got dropped, but it effectively removed the
commands associated with catchall processing along with it.

I've added an include for config.h to command.c, and that has fixed the
problem.
/q

I don't necessarily think this is related to your trouble, but you'll
want to do this fix. The symptom, an empty qmailadmin page, was the same.

Are you sure you don't want to reconsider using QMT? It's not too late.
Of course if you're having fun with this, then why change course? ;)

On my new system I want to use netqmail-1.06 with Chkuser 2.0 patch and

I have installed vpopmail-5.5.0 in combination with qmailadmin-1.2.16, and
qmailadmin-1.2.15 in combination with vpopmail-5.4.33.
I have done the installs of qmailadmin without strip.

I still get the same error: double free or corruption with no output I
( and the hackers in my company ;-) find usefull.

The fact that the error do not change indicates that the error is somewhere

2013-05-17 Thread Tom Collins
You haven't done anything wrong. I seem to recall seeing this error in the
past. I run a modified version of 1.2.12 myself, and can't recall if I've had
to fix this bug in the past or not (I guess I could try diffing against stock
1.2.12 and review my changes).

If you reinstall qmailadmin with install instead of install-strip, that
backtrace might contain the names of functions and it would be easier to track
down the bug.

qmail-toaster (http://wiki.qmailtoaster.com) is presently on
vpopmail-5.4.33 with qmailadmin-1.2.16. There haven't been any problems
reported.

I don't know to what extent 5.5 is ready for production. It's not been
deemed stable yet to my knowledge. I've been waiting for some time to
try out 5.5 with ldap support, but last I recall Matt was still ironing
out the schema for that.

I hope you give qmail-toaster consideration. It has a lot of users with
a friendly and helpful community base. Disclaimer: I'm the project lead,
so I'm indubitably biased. ;)

In that case also check your routing tables. I've seen misconfigurations

I don't know if it will still cleanly apply to the current version, but it

As You can see this email has been sent on Friday at 18.23.
The gmail server received the email immediately.
my server received it on sunday ad 22.39

Does it depend on my server or on the sender?
I cannot find any problem on my local server.

Thanks fo Your hints.

RE: [qmailadmin] weird problem -

2013-01-14 Thread Thibault Richard
Hello,

The two important lines in your header are :

Received: from camilloPC (193.205.xxx.xxx) by smtp2.xxx.xx (8.0.023)
(authenticated as c)
 id 50DB9E852324; Fri, 11 Jan 2013 18:23:39 +0100

= It indeed means smtp2.xxx.xx has received the instruction to send it
at 11 Jan 2013 18:23:39 +0100

Received: from smtp2.xx.xx (62.241.xxx.xxx)
   by v-server.cad with SMTP; 13 Jan 2013 22:39:03 +0100

= It indeed means smtp2.xx.xx succeed contacting your server only at 13
Jan 2013 22:39:03 +0100

It could means several things

1° There was a system problem (qmail-smtpd down) at 11 Jan 2013 18:23:39
+0100. It suppose this problem has been solved later. I suppose we can
exclude this hypothesis.

2° There was a routing problem between smtp2.xx.xx and your server
around 11 Jan 2013 18:23:39 +0100.

-The sending server do not succeed sending this mail at 11 Jan 2013 18:23:39
+0100
-Then it retried 5 minutes later (11 Jan 2013 18:28) with the same problem
-Then it retried 10 minutes later (11 Jan 2013 18:39) with the same problem
-Then it retried 2 hours later (11 Jan 2013 20:39) with the same problem
-Then it retried 2 hours later (11 Jan 2013 22:39) with the same problem
-Then it retried 1 day later (12 Jan 2013 22:39) with the same problem
-Then it retried 1 day later (13 Jan 2013 22:39) to finally succeed!

This hypothesis is based to classical re-try period configured in most of
the MTA

3° smtp2.xx.xx was blacklisted for a while on a blacklist not used my
Gmail

You could find it by determining the IP of smtp2.xx.xx

Try then

grep 62.241.xxx.xxx /var/log/qmail/qmail-smtpd/*

If this is the case, you should have some record like this

rblsmtpd: 62.241.xxx.xxx pid 2628: 451
http://www.spamhaus.org/query/bl?ip=62.241.xxx.xxx

4° Last hypothesis

You have implemented this feature
http://qmailrocks.thibs.com/greylisting.php
smtp2.xx.xx has configured strange retry period

I hope this 'll help you

Best Regards

Thibault a.k.a Thibs

Subject: [qmailadmin] weird problem -

Hi all
I installed Debian with qmail (Thibault Richard) and is running fine.
Sometime something weird is appening.
Down in this email I include the header of an email sended from an Italian
University server.
The addressee has two email, the first is on my server, another one is on
gmail.
As You can see this email has been sent on Friday at 18.23.
The gmail server received the email immediately.
my server received it on sunday ad 22.39

Does it depend on my server or on the sender?
I cannot find any problem on my local server.

Thanks fo Your hints.

Giulio

Hello,

It seems you are using qmail-scanner.

In such case, it depends on $sa_quarantine_site variable in
/var/qmail/bin/qmail-scanner-queue.pl

e.g. : with Spamassassin default score value of 5 and $sa_quarantine_site
variable set to '0.5', all mails with a score of 5,5 or more will be
quarantined

You can find more details on

is only to understand if I made some mistake or the server has some

Your english is horribly broken. If you're quarantining message at 5 then
that is a very low threshold.

 Hi
 I found in my mailbox this email.
 As You can see Spam-status hits is 9, a value 5 should be enough to be
 put to quarantine and not delivered to the mailbox.
 Despite of this the subject was not modified and I found this and two othe

RE: [qmailadmin] [SPAM] Auto-empty trash items older then a certain age

 Just want to throw out there that different email clients
 will use different names for their deleted items.

 I'm using a cron job to clean up the Trash, Deleted
 Messages and Deleted Items folders, including any folder
 that starts with those strings. Survey your system and see
 what variations you find.

 I decided not to share my Perl script, since it uses the file
 date (Perl's -M which returns days between script start
 time and file modification time), not the date it was moved
 into the Trash folder. Hmm. I just did some quick tests and
 it looks like I should use -C (days since file change time)
 to trigger of the timestamp of when the file was moved to the trash.

 So, here's my script. Interested in feedback. I have it in
 my /etc/cron.daily so it runs every night. The file globs
 take care of directory hashing for both domains and users.

 I figured this was more efficient than recursing through the
 domain list, getting a domain's home directory, recursing
 through the user list and then processing the files.

 #!/usr/bin/perl

 $days = 45;

 $c = 0;

 print Deleting mail in .Trash and .Deleted Messages folders,
 over $days days old.\n;

 foreach $path (@globs)
 {
   while ($name = glob ('/home/vpopmail/domains/' . $path))
   {
   opendir (D, $name) or print failed to open $name\n;
   while ($f = readdir(D))
   {
   # skip non-files
   next if (! -f $name/$f);
   $t = -C $name/$f;
   if ($t  $days)
   {
   unlink $name/$f;
   $c++;
   }
   }
   }
 }

 print Deleted $c messages over $days days old\n;

Not sure if you saw some of the responses I got, but apparently if you don't
use the expunge command, your quotas will not update. Someone can correct me
if I misinterpreted this. Ofcourse if you're not using quotas, that won't
matter. Otherwise your script seems to make sense based on my limited
programming knowledge. In my case, I only want to empty the Trash that
Squirrelmail uses for now, since its usually users that forget to purge it
once they delete messages that I'm concerned with to start. In the rare case
that they moved a message there by accident, I'll give it a 90 day window
before its expunged.

RE: [qmailadmin] [SPAM] Auto-empty trash items older then a certain age

2012-11-12 Thread Matt Rauch
  Hello,

   Sorry if this isn't the place to ask, but I've looked
 all over and haven't managed to find a clear solution. I'm
 looking for a way to have items that have been in the user's
 .Trash folder for a certain period of time (lets say 30 days
 or older) removed automatically. I thought there must be
 built-in functionality for this, or a script someone has come
 up with to manage this sort of thing. I've see a squirrelmail
 plugin that does it based on number of logins or every x
 number of days, but it empties the whole trash and doesn't
 check each message's age individually.

 Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 Thanks,

 Matt Rauch

Just to update everyone. I did find a way to accomplish this even though we
are using the vpopmail auth. I found this script online and modified it to
fit my login info:
--
#!/usr/local/bin/bash
# MySQL details

HOST=localhost;
USER=vpopmail;
PWD=vpopmail passwd;

# Output sql to a file that we want to run
echo USE vpopmail; select concat(pw_name,'@',pw_domain) as username from
vpopmail;  /tmp/query.sql;

# Run the query and get the results
results=`mysql -h $HOST -u $USER -p$PWD -N  /tmp/query.sql`;

# Loop through each row
for row in $results
do
/usr/local/bin/doveadm expunge -u $row mailbox Trash savedbefore 52w
done

-

Maybe this can help someone else who is in the same boat.

Re: [qmailadmin] qmail admin softlimit

2012-11-09 Thread Amit Rathor
Dear.

Please make changes in /etc/php5/apache2/php.ini for the following
parameters,

post_max_size
upload_max_filesize
memory_limit

as it looks qmail increases the attachment size but apache / http restrict
that.

Thanks,

 Hi all
 as you know I installed Qmail from Thibs site.
 I would enlarge the softlimit to receive attached file up to 20Mb.

 I tried to set it with
 echo '800'  /var/qmail/control/databytes

 then
  qmailctl restart

 but nothing changes.

 Where is my mistake? ( Do not consider the 20Mb as an error... I know it
 is..)

 Thanks
