Where I may search solution for this problem?

Where'd so many queued messages come from?
Since there are only 2-4/20 running, I'm guessing that these failed
initially and have been requeued to be delivered at a later time. Was
there a problem that has since been fixed?

 Do
 # qmHandle -a
to try sending them right away. You should see 20/20 in the send log
right after this is run. (qmHandle is part of the qmailtoaster-plus
 package)

Do messages accumulate in the queue after it's been cleared? What is the
 cause of initial failure?

Thanks for your respons.
Problem was solved.
I'v made migrating from older system and file /var/qmail/queue/lock/trigger
was not copied. I'v made it and system is runnig OK.

Yes. Spamassassin scans the messages for content, but does not
out-of-the-box do network tests. Once you configure SURBL, it will not
only scan the content of the message but also scan for URLs within the
message and score them appropriately.

I think some of the answers are a bit confusing.

qmail-toaster is setup so that the RBL's are checked before handing the
message off to spamassassin.

SURBL is a different animal. It scans the content of the message
looking for links. It then checks the hosts of those links against the
SURBL database through a DNS query.

I have SURBL enabled on my servers. Since I had already made sure the
perl modules were installed all that was required was adding the
loadplugin line to v310.pre.

I'll include myself (shubes.net) in the list too, and check with my clients
to see if they'd also like to be included in the list.

FWIW, there's already an Affirmations section on the wiki. Perhaps we
could simply expand on that, and break it onto a separate page with a list
of company names. That could then be linked to from the main page. The
community could then handle the maintenance.

Just to clarify a bit more, SURBL is a subset (part of) of SpamAssassin, but
is not enabled in the stock toaster. SURBLs are checked against the content
of a message.

RBL is totally separate from SpamAssassin (and SURBL). It checks the
sender's IP address against BLs before the message is even transmitted.

When expiration kicks in (either manually or auto), a new bayes database is
created in place of the old one. This is sometimes created with user root,
even though the running process is vpopmail (why, I don't know). You need to

# chown vpopmail:vchkpw /home/vpopmail/.spamassassin/bayes_toks

when this happens.

You should probably check all of the files in this folder to be sure that
they have this ownership too.

[qmailtoaster] How do I disable simscan? Authdeamond?

2007-01-05 Thread Joseph Lundgren
All,

Sorry to re-post this. I didn't get any responses last time, and I
would like to get a clear understanding of the ramifications of this
procedure.

What is the proper way to disable and uninstall simscan and clamav. I
tried to do this just after my upgrade to the current version, but mail
stopped processing altogether. At that time, I merely uninstalled the
spamassassin-toaster, simscan-toaster, ripmime-toaster, and
clamav-toaster packages, with disastrous results.

I've got it partially disabled right now, via the
'/var/qmail/control/simcontrol' file, but I'd rather just remove it
altogether.

Also, what functionality does authdaemond provide? I routinely have
to restart MySQL, after finding that authdaemond is taking more than
its fair share of db handles. What is the impact of uninstalling that
part of the package? What is the proper procedure for doing so?

Sincerely,

I think that would be a great section for the wiki (especially since I
cover the East coast ;) ), but I had thrown my company in there for your
testimonials you had talked about writing:

I would also like to write a propaganda type page, including
testimonials and company names that use the QmailToaster mail
software. I'd really appreciate it if users would send me testimonials
and company names if possible that can appear publicly on the main
 qmailtoaster site.

Sounds like maybe we should have a commercial support links page on the
wiki. Would that be appropriate? If so, would someone like to work out a
template?

I've added an In The News section to the wiki main page. Would someone
like to google for any other articles that can be added? (KQ?)

[qmailtoaster] next (major?) release

2007-01-05 Thread CanopyAdmin
I'm holding out building a Qmail T for the next release. Is there
anything worth holding out for?

I don't really need a mail server just yet...

I set it up to check it out. I used the ServerCD version (single disk).
I don't recall having any issues.
