Is it possible to get older/previous versions of qmail-toaster? qt site
contains only the current install packages.

I have a couple older versions laying around. Others may have the same.
If you tell us the specific version you're looking for, I'm sure someone
will have it on a CD somewhere.

I am particularly looking for a previous version of ezmlm-toaster before
0.53.324-1.3.2

I have an issue with sending messages to a mailing list where list members
are only allowed to send after a message is moderated. The problem started
after upgrading and I think downgrading ezmlm-toaster may help.

So will very much appreciate to ezmlm*-toaster just before the current
version.

I have been using this list, the problem started after upgrading qtoaster

I can send to the list if posting messages is allowed to subscribers but
if I restrict it to the moderators only, that is when that error message
comes.

  Hi all,

From time to time, we need to read qmail's log files. Since the time
  stamp
returned by tai64nlocal is too precise (lengthy), for me, I've
 written
 a
Perl script so that the log file can be displayed in a customized time
stamp. It also includes few more options:

  # qt-showlog -h
Display qmail log in custom time format
  Usage: /root/scripts/qt-showlog [Options] [file name]...
-d directory Specify directory location. Default:
  /var/log/qmail
  -e TextDisplay lines without Text
-f date format SpecIfy date format to be used. Default: %b%d
  %H:%M:%S
  -h Show this message
  -i TextDisplay lines with Text
-s Service Select Service log, such as pop3-ssl and
 send.
  Default: send
-t Display log which is continously appended to
  (similar to tail -f)
[filename] File to be displayed. Default: All files
 started
  with ' and 'current'

If -t is selected, only 'current' will be displayed

For example, the following command shows only the lines which includes
'LOGOUT' in the newly appended records of
the /var/log/qmail/pop3-ssl/current file with a yymmmdd HH:MM time
 stamp:

  #qt-showlog -t -s pop3-ssl -i LOGOUT -f '%y%b%d %H:%M'
  06Nov16 11:31 INFO: LOGOUT, user=adams, ip=[1.2.3.4], top=0, retr=0,
  rcvd=24, sent=2614, time=0
  06Nov16 11:31 INFO: LOGOUT, user=sylvia, ip=[ 1.2.3.4], top=0, retr=0,
  rcvd=12, sent=39, time=0
  06Nov16 11:31 INFO: LOGOUT, user=adrian, ip=[4.3.2.1], top=0, retr=0,
  rcvd=12, sent=39, time=1
  06Nov16 11:31 INFO: LOGOUT, user=anita, ip=[1.3.5.7], top=0,
 retr=25181,
  rcvd=40, sent=25923, time=0

To further reduce the length of the output, you may want to edit the
following lines of regex in the script. In my example here, I replace
 all

  mydomain.com with MD and etc.

  # comment out the following if you want to show full content
  my @items= (
  [ qr/mydomain.com/, MD ],
  [
 qr/User_and_password_not_set,_continuing_without_authentication./,
  w/o auth ],
  [ qr(Remote_host_said:_250[^/]+), 'Remote_host_said:_250' ],
  );

I hope you like it. Please feel free to comment.

  Best regards,
  Bill

I immediately delete them each I come across such files. This is the
reason i keep upgrading toaster trying to solve this problem hoping the
latest version to be fixed in case there was a any bug.

I will forward you the files next time I get them.

Might be a bug with the current version of simscan. I'll attempt to
replicate this with a few of my virtual machines (Thanks Lightspeed
Wireless). Can you give me a few examples of filenames that have made
 it through?

I'll also see if I can test out simscan 1.4 later this week.

 Thanks,

Does /opt/qtp-sandbox/boot/.qtp-sandbox exist? The existence of this
 hidden
file is how the scripts (are supposed to) tell if /opt/qtp-sandbox is a
sandbox or not. If the file exists, then this message is a bug. If it
doesn't exist (and never did), this is a bug too. If you somehow removed
 the
(apparently empty, but it's not) boot/ directory from the sandbox, that
 would cause this error.

If the rest of your sandbox is safely intact, you could
 # mkdir -p /opt/qtp-sandbox/boot
 # touch /opt/qtp-sandbox/boot/.qtp-sandbox
to restore the directory and file.

The safest bet would be to
 # rm -rf /opt/qtp-sandbox
and let newmodel recreate it. If you still get this message, then there's
 a bug.

BTW, I did find and fix (just now) a bug with this. If you happen to
 change
the sandbox name to something other than qtp-sandbox, it would fail with
 the
message you're getting. It doesn't appear that you've changed this value
 though.

Let me know what your situation is.

 Did qtp-newmeld download a wrong courier-authlib?

 crispin

qtp-newmodel downloads whatever is listed in the current.txt file on the
main site. That appears to be the one you have (1.3.3).

If I remember right, you're running FC4, yes? If that's the case, I
 believe
you'll need to remove your current courier-authlib-toaster, install the
standard libtool-ltdl using yum, then proceed with the upgrade.

This could be a little tricky using the newmodel script. Do you have
 active
users using courier on your toaster? I'd like to tell you specifically
 what
you need to do, but minimizing any disruption in services the toaster's
 providing.

I have a dns server (bind) on seperate hardware server and I installed
djbdns on a mailserver. by both I mean the contents of my resolv.conf
contains both 127.0.0.1 and an ip of my dns svr.

crispin
Both meaning either or, or both at once? Why?

I don't know the differences in the various djbdns toaster versions. I see
that djbdns-1.05-1.0.3 is now current on the main site, and the change
 logs
 haven't been updated since 1.0.1.

Perhaps EE can clarify the situation.

Me too. I'm not aware of a djbdns upgrade that has been done with

 that.

Looks to me like djbdns doesn't like to be upgraded. I'm guessing that
djbdns might need to be installed in a fashion similar to a kernel,
 where
upgrades are installed as separate versions instead of being updated.
 Does
anyone using djbdns know if this is the case or not?

What version of djbdns are you presently running?
 # rpm -qa | grep djbdns

I had to skip kjbdns and succeeded to upgrade in about 3 minutes.
 The
upgrade is made easy this way, thanks shubes for a great work. I also
would like to know why zlib failed.

The zlib package failed because the version scheme was changed.
Originally we were trying to keep with the QmailToaster
1.branch.revision, but eventually we decided that zlib should go back
to 1.0.revision since eventualy OS's will release the same or newer
zlib than what we are shipping.

At that point there is no sense in installing our version.

 Type rpm -Uhv --oldpackage zlib*.

As far as i386 vs. i686, it doesn't matter on anything higher than a
P2. The i686 is more optimized, the i386 is generic enough to run on
just about any x86 compatible machine.

I'm guessing that there must be some patch to libltdl.so that was
 necessary
to get courier-authlib-toaster working on FC4.

So the answer to original question (is libtool-ltdl or libtool-libs
necessary?), the answer (apparently) is that it depends on your
distro/release. If you have dependent packages and can't remove
 libtool-ltdl
(or libtool-libs) cleanly, I'm guessing that you can remove it with
 --nodeps
before installing courier-authlib-toaster, which will replace the
 dependent
file(s). Now whether or not the dependent package will actually work or
 not
with the courier-authlib-toaster versions might be subject to testing.

This illustrates why it is prudent to run the toaster on CentOS instead
 of
 FedoraCore.

Re: [qmailtoaster] [Fwd: Re: Spamassassin tricks]

2006-09-08 Thread ldap
I see in many of the postings in this list people mentioning greylisting,
how is it implemented in qtoaster? has anyone ever tried delaying smtp
connections as a method of stoping spams?

regards,

Crispin.
Following is a little bit from my local LUG (PhoenixLinuxUsersGroup).
I typically have high regard for Craig White's opinions and level of
 expertise as a System Administrator.

I think that the toaster runs pretty well, but am always looking for
improvements (and I think there's a bit, while not a lot of room).

 I don't know a thing about MailScanner, but I'm guessing that it's a
counterpart to simscan, with some chkuser functionality thrown in. If
 that's
the case, I'd prefer the toaster, as chkuser runs straight off the SMTP
level, rejecting more email at the source.

I haven't installed RDJ yet, but seeing as it's part of QTP, I intend to
 very soon.

Does anyone have any knowledge/experience with SARE? Is it worth looking
 at?

I'm still on the fence with greylisting. I've talked with a few folks
 about
it, and am inclined to think that it is more appropriately implemented in
 a
 firewall, if at all.

I'm interested to know what some of our more seasoned email admins think
 about this.

No doubt good advice, Craig. However, you failed to answer the question.
 (couldn't resist) ;)

OK - SARE and RDJ rules du jour are the popular ones.

to be honest, after greylisting RBL blocks, spamassassin 3.1.5 seems
to get just about everything that gets past the first 2 (which isn't
much). I haven't implemented either SARE or RDJ but I keep my eye on
 them just in case...

Since I started using qtoaster, five months ago with 700+ users this

cleaned up.

Does anyone have any idea why directories (messages) in /var/qmail/simscan
aren't being cleaned up? It seems to be continually growing.

Is it effective?

Any information that will help implement it is greatly appreciated.

located in /var/qmail/contral/

In my server I don't have this file and I searched thinking that it might

Does this mean this verstion of qt do not include simcontral or I am
missing something?

Re: [qmailtoaster] Problem moving spam into spam user folder

2006-08-07 Thread ldap
The following is what I did with Jake's help

Download a mailfilter script from
http://www.tnpi.biz/internet/mail/toaster/etc/mailfilter-domain

Create a spam account.

Edit the following line in mailfilter script;
#VPOP=| /usr/local/vpopmail/bin/vdelivermail '' bounce-no-mailbox
to
#VPOP=| /usr/local/vpopmail/bin/vdelivermail ''
/home/vpopmail/domains/yourdomain/name of account you created

For each user, create a spam folder name it, Spam (make sure S remains in
Capital)

edit /home/vpopmail/domains/yourdoman/.qmail-default
add the following line (on my server this is the only text I have) also
remember this is one line.

|/var/qmail/bin/preline /usr/bin/maildrop -A 'Content-Filter:
maildrop-toaster' /home/vpopmail/domains/your domain/mailfilter

Then run a script that will remove all mails in the Spam folder every
night, otherwise your users will have problems with quota. The script
should call SA-Learn before deleting the messages in every Spam folder
and in the folders of spam account you created.

Then tell your users to regularly check their Spam folder for any false
positives and inform them that contents in the folder will be deleted
every night.

Lastly, visit http://v2gnu.com/qmail/ to see how jack is dealing with spams.

hope this will shed some light on the alternative ways of dealing with spams

Crispin.

Some time ago, my qmail-toaster box were configured to move spam
detected messages into users spam folder.

When I upgraded qmail toaster, I lost this function and I don't remember
 where I configured that.

Anybody could help me saying how I configure this?

I want all e-mail marked as spam were moved into user spam folder.

 Thx

Re: [qmailtoaster] RBLSMTP after setting up rules-du-jour

Steve,

thanks you for the explanation. I removed the entry from the tcp.smtp
file. however, my worry is, it wasin't blocking all mails before I updated
my spamassin's rules using the scrit I downloaded from the rules emporium
site.

I will read the man page from the url you sent and see how best to use it.

heh - i encountered the same problem recently. here's my
(incomplete) understanding of what's going on:

read the rblsmtpd man page (http://cr.yp.to/ucspi-tcp/
 rblsmtpd.html). according to it:

If the $RBLSMTPD environment variable is set and is nonempty,
rblsmtpd blocks mail. It uses $RBLSMTPD as an error message for the
client. Normally rblsmtpd runs under tcpserver; you can use tcprules
to set $RBLSMTPD for selected clients.
If $RBLSMTPD is set and is empty, rblsmtpd does not block mail.
If $RBLSMTPD is not set, rblsmtpd looks up $TCPREMOTEIP in the RBL,
and blocks mail if $TCPREMOTEIP is listed. tcpserver sets up
$TCPREMOTEIP as the IP address of the remote host.

so, the way i read this, your entry RBLSMTPD=Blocked - Reverse DNS
queries for your IP fail. You cannot send me mail. in tcp.smtp sets
the environment variable $RBLSMTPD. i figure you must have been
setting this value for all incoming hosts; perhaps your tcp.smtp file
 had a line like this:

:RBLSMTPD=Blocked - Reverse DNS queries for your IP fail. You
 cannot send me mail.

since there's nothing before the colon, it matches all hosts, and
 thus blocks all hosts.

my understanding is that you shouldn't need to explicitly add a line
like this, unless there are specific addresses or networks that you
want to block permanently (perhaps you might want to add permanent
block lines for the RFC1918 nonroutable networks, as a safeguard
against malicious or misconfigured hosts - but if you're using a
nonroutable network address, don't block it!)
