RE: [qmailtoaster] LDAP intergration

2011-05-26 Thread John Raley
Greetings,

Am planning on moving my current toaster from mysql auth to ldap, has anyone
used this tutorial http://wiki.qmailtoaster.com/index.php/LDAP and
successfully implemented this?
Just looking to hear experiences with this...

Alex

I have been waiting for LDAP integration for a while now. I know there was a
big discussion on it here but they moved to the dev list and I am not sure what
happened after that. The wiki page you linked said they were waiting on vpop
5.5 back in 2009. It looks like the latest stable version of vpopmail is still
5.4.33. I have not seen a new devel release (5.5) of vpopmail since November of
2010.

Dear Madmac,

If you haven't selected the ldapserver during os installation its not there
but you can install later on also.

yum -y install openldap-server

this command will install openldap-server and other necessary packages for
you. Internet connectivity is a must if you are installing using yum or else
u can install openldap-server rpm from the dvd/cd of your distro also.

Regards,

Anil Aliyan

Re: [qmailtoaster] Ldap Authentication

2007-03-26 Thread Erik A. Espinoza

I have used Turba w/ LDAP on Qmail Toaster. This doesn't require the
Qmail Toaster to support LDAP. You may have to install php-ldap from
your distribution.

Thanks,
Erik

Hi!

I'm sorry, this might be a dumb question, but here it goes...

I use the Qmailtoaster with MySQL DB for authentication and Horde Suit
as webmail.
I want to access an list in Turba (Horde) from an LDAP.
My question is: to do that, the qmail must have ldap suport?

Sorry if this is OT...

Thanks in advance,
Rodrigo.

Looks accurate to me. The amount of work to keep this codebase alive,
secure and stable takes a lot of time. Adding a major change like this
isn't in the cards. If someone wants to take the current base, rework
the vpopmail and merge it into the mainstream I can add it as an
 unsupported feature like the spambox.

Until then, this isn't moving forward.

 Thanks,
 Erik

Nope. It doesn't support LDAP. There's no plans to as of this date
 either. Sorry.

I noticed that LDAP has been requested at
http://wiki.qmailtoaster.com/index.php/Wish_List.
I've written a reply. Will anyone more knowledgable please review it for
accuracy?

Switching to ldap means more than just the basic auth has to change, many of
the toaster packages have to be rebuilt as well (courier, ect).

George.
