[QUAD-L] sleep

2005-09-17 Thread DAANOO

Greg, Fellow insomniac,I liked you, stay up at night, I usually
don't go to sleep until after 6 a.m. just wondering why do you only take
amitriptyline three nights a week (you don't recommend amitriptyline for
sleeping?). Last year when I had a sore I was stuck in bed, so my brother
got me a laptop. They year he put a computer behind my bed and I have swing arm
monitor holder that the monitor sits on. My laptop barely works as it has
dropped to the deck twice. How do you get through the day after staying up
all night in your wheelchair? I bet you really sleep the next night after being
up. I know I would be unable to do that as I do need some sleep in the
morning and early afternoon. I'm so glad you have no problem with pressure
sores. I have such a strange schedule, but it is difficult to change sleep
patterns. I don't usually get sores unless my roho loses air. The
longest time to be in bed was the six months last year. We think that sore
was caused by actually laying on the cord of the laptop, it was getting hot and
burned out. How do you type? I use Dragon NaturallySpeaking 7.0
professional. Do you work on your music when you're Up all
night.Last night I couldn't go to sleep until after 11 a.m. but then I
did not get up until 430.I'm having to write this in Notepad, because
Roadrunner is off again tonight and it was off all morning also. Can
you imagine what our lives would be like without the computer and
Internet? I will close for now.Dana (C4-5, 31 years post, 52,

Hi, Dana

I'm writing this at 7:15am
after being up allnight, I did take a couple of power naps last night,
though and usually do on the nights i'm up. I take amitriptyline on the
nights I go to bed, I get to sleep around midnight and sleep straight thru until
9 or 10am and yes those are GREATsleep!I type with a
mouthstick, I've been I.M. a girl in Chicago with no
arms (types with her toes) for about 4 months so, I've been getting pretty
darn sore lately. I've had friends smuggle me some prescription pain
patches and boy do those work great! I can be narcoleptic during the day,
go out for 10 or 15 minutes (sometimes in the middle of a movie, lol!) and wake
up a little refreshed. I HATE being in bed, unless I'm sleeping, bed is
like prison to me otherwise. Yes, I work on music at night, surf the net,
watch TV, have HBO, and Comcast On Demand is cool. I have a reading stand,
I get paperbacks spiral bound at Office Depot to flip pages with my stick.
Life would be very primitive without computers for sure. Hey, I'm really
enjoying this board folks, blessings!

Hi Stuntman,

I didn't think you could find anything but a "bad taco" that far North! I hope you're feeling better soon, and find a place that makes a good taco. It could have been worse, though. It could have been a bad 'sausage'! ;-)

By DOUG SIMPSON, Associated Press Writers Fri Sep 16, 7:53 PM ET

GRETNA, La. - A 73-year-old woman who was jailed for more than two weeks after authorities accused her of looting was released Friday evening.

Merlene Maten said the first thing she wanted to do was visit her 80-year-old husband.

"I thank God this ordeal is over," she said after being released from the parish jail. "I did nothing wrong."
Police arrested Maten the day after Hurricane Katrina on charges she took $63.50 in goods from a looted deli. Her bail had been set at $50,000.
Family and eyewitnesses insist she only had gone to her car to get some sausage to eat when officers cuffed her in frustration, unable to catch younger looters at a nearby store.
Despite intervention from the nation's largest senior lobby, volunteer lawyers from theFederal Emergency Management Agency and even a private attorney, the family fought a futile battle for 16 days to get her freed.
Then, hours after her plight was featured in an Associated Press story, a local judge on Thursday ordered Maten freed on her own recognizance.
Maten still must face the looting charge at a court hearing in October. But the family, armed with several witnesses, intends to prove she was wrongly arrested.
Defense attorney Daniel Becnel, family members and witnesses said police snared Maten in the parking lot of a hotel after floodwaters swamped her New Orleans home. She had paid for her room with a credit card and followed authorities' instructions to pack extra food, they said.
Police Capt. Steve Carraway said Wednesday that Maten was arrested in the checkout area of a small store next to police headquarters.
The arrest report is short and assigns the value of goods Maten is alleged to have taken at $63.50. The items were not identified.
Christine Bishop, the owner of the Check In Check Out deli, said that she was angry that looters had damaged her store, but that she would not want anyone charged with a crime if the person had simply tried to get food to survive. "Especially not a 70-year-old woman," Bishop said.Stuntman [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

Hey guys,

this is just a quick not since I need to use my time up for the bowel program and I'm in quite a bit of pain. I went to the surgeons and he will be opening up the tunnel to clean it out. He will have the vac put on it so it can heal that way. I have more confidence now that it will be opened since the opening to the tunnel is so narrow. I'll keep you all posted. HOpefully it wont take long b/c it is getting very lonely sitting in bed all alone. My neighbor/helper from the waiver comes over to bring me my meals and straighten my house but other than that there isn't many people to talk to since I have a very small family and don’t talk that much and the few friends that I have are very busy with their families and work. I'm trying to keep my spirits up so I can heal b/c I know that it's important for getting better. One thing that keeps me going os watching the news and thanking God that I am blessed to have what I do!
 .

Take care everyone and hopefully I'll have my roho soon so I can get up for a little bit during the day.

Hey Greg,
I also sleep with a fleece cap at night and it helped a lot and if I get hot I pull it off.
I also have a remote control ceiling fan that helps too.

[QUAD-L] lying flat

Hi All,
WhenI transfer into bed the head is raised up a bit. I stay like that for a little while. But then later when I'm getting undressed and lay flat my head pounds andI get a very bad headache until I raise my head up a little bit.
Dose anybody else have a problem laying flat and getting headaches? This has been happening to me since, forever.

I have experience having athrobbing headache but it's when I am laying
flat down and after having a real rough muscle spazm in both my legs. I
have gotten in my chair after the muscle spazms and see colors faded
in the carpet which is suppose to be brown, it turns other colors that are hard
to describe and no I am only taking my regular drugs.
